Overused Words.

...especially when prefaced with "quite" or "very"

Existential is a word I’ve noticed cropping up everywhere lately.
Everything apparently is not just a threat or crisis but an existential calamity, especially of course with regard to ‘climate change’.

I find 'why oh why' (the phrase, not the poster!) over-dramatic. I can picture someone with the back of their hand across their forehead saying it.

'Brilliant'; I was quite flattered, but having just given someone my address for a form, it didn't seem justified.
'Like' - used so often in a sentence, almost every other word, and the whole thing becomes unintelligible.
'Reaching out' is another one that sets the teeth on edge.

With the under 25 year olds it’s got to be
‘like’. It does seem a habit they grow out of though, thankfully!
