With needs gone - (this just means I/we want it out of the way because another item of furniture will be arriving on such and such a day to take its’ place) …don’t you all realise there’s a war on ? 🙄 the war is against time wasting and making an effort and therefore words are rationed because folk are busy busy busy most if not all of the time and so these shorts hand phrases have “helpfully” evolved.
How much of our vocabulary would be left if we removed all of these?😂
I understand that we all haven or two words that irritate us, but this thread has become a version of One Man Went To Mow - people are reciting all the words others have used and adding one of their own without any explanation of why it is annoying,

Checkout staff exhorting me to have a nice day when it might be mid afternoon. I always feel obliged to reply “you, too” which is a bit silly when they’re working. Less common, but I do still get told “see ya later”, mainly by the very young.
I always just say ‘thanks’ in reply. As for ‘See you later’ 😄are you tempted to say ‘not if I see you first’ then leave them to work that one out.

Here is mine: Grrr 🦁 it is “host” as in we/they will be hosting Christmas 🤶🏻 …..(sorry to mention that in May) whereas in a previous life they would just have people/family over for the festive knees up!
Breast fed babies root for their mother's nipple. Mine would snuggle their little faces into your chest with their mouth open... presumably bottle fed babies do something similar.

Is that a local thing Grammaretto? Do you think they are trying to be friendly by implying they have forgotten - so the "again" is referring to the first time you told them - maybe 10 years ago??
