It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it

I have 4 children, all grown up now but I used to make their cakes whilst they were at school so that I could have 'the licks'. Trouble is now they and my grandchildren all of them are too grown up, too far away or have vegan/vegetarian tastes so I don't get to make them very often. sad

What are cookies? Surely you mean biscuits, all thes Americanisms are killing the English language, how old are you? Clearly you are easily influenced. Nobody my age (84) say cookies.

sad

Old people may not realise the difference.
DH probably wouldn't either - he'd just scoff them 😁

I make cookies, they’re bigger and less crispy than biscuits. M&S sell both cookies and biscuits so there’s obviously a difference.

mabon I'm not quite as old as you so perhaps that's why I know the difference between biscuits and cookies

I've made both.

Nah - it’s 🤢 yucky. Uncooked nasty.

Uncooked deliciousness! 🙂
But I won't touch it now.

I'm in the US in 74. To me cookies are delightfully yummy concoctions. To us in the US biscuits are savory meant for soaking up soups and stews and making sandwiches. Bowl licking is mandatory for either.

Some people just can’t help themselves Crossstitchfan

Anyway, aren’t biscuits those crisp thin bakes, whereas cookies are thicker (gooey) less crisp and chewy??

Right - I’m off to Greggs!!

I, and others, have written to you before about your propensity for nasty comments but you take no notice. You must be a very sad and unfulfilled person to want to make others feel bad in the way you do.

Made brownies the other day, bunged in oven and left Google to ping when time up. Looked fine , left in tin for a time, turned out and centre collapsed through rack . Oops !
Obvviously did not instruct Google correctly.
Managed to salvage the outer part. Scooped up the rest and popped into fridge. Ate for pud with raspberries and Greek yoghurt. Absolutely delish !

Oh my goodness just because you are 84 doesn’t mean you have carte blanche to be rude! Where was the need for such brusqueness on such a gentle post?

I've never licked the bowl since Edwina Curry's announcement about eggs!

Raw cake mix does taste so much better, though.

BigBertha1 Tue 13-May-25 13:31:32

DH always get to the bowl before I do.

Mollygo Tue 13-May-25 12:33:48

Mmmm
That’s why making scones is so disappointing.

Magenta8 Tue 13-May-25 12:21:14

Why is it, whenever I make anything, the finished product is never as tasty as the bowl lickings?

teabagwoman Tue 13-May-25 12:03:49

Didn’t get to lick the bowl when I was a child; have made up for that ever since!

Cossy Tue 13-May-25 11:58:39

Having made cookies this morning, in the absence of a small child, I was forced to lick the bowl myself. Memories of childhood.
