Good morning all. It’s a cloudy start to the day in Glasgow.

I have felt a bit off colour since my booster on Sunday and feel worse today flu like and an upset stomach. A forced day of rest will hopefully get me back on track.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Good morning everyone from a partially sunny/cloudy Northampton, but a fine day is forecast although cooler than yesterday.

Was too late on the phone yesterday morning to get a doctor's appointment, but was successful in the afternoon. I had a thorough examination and an upper respiratory infection was diagnosed (lungs were ok). Delayed antibiotics prescribed: I need to wait three or four days before starting them to see if my cough improves on its own; if not then I take.them, with instructions to return if they don't work.

On the way home I called in at my hairdresser to see if I could change next week's appointment which clashes with my wine club. Luckily she had a cancellation and has fitted me in this afternoon. Yippee!

So it will be a quiet morning of pottering, an early lunch then out on the bus to the village for an afternoon of pampering.

Thinking of the FGT2s today.

Happy birthday 🎂 🍾 Marydoll!

Good morning from the sunny Essex coast. I'm going to the boat with DH today, it's lovely when the sun shines on the river. Lunch packed already.
DH's brother has managed to get two tickets for us to go to Wembley on Saturday to see my team Crystal Palace play in the FA Cup Final. I am so excited.
Happy Birthday to Marydoll , I hope you feel well enough to enjoy your big birthday.
It sounds like your DH is doing well Gingster.
Best wishes to everyone xx

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and cloudy. Marydoll very happy birthday to you. Thank you all again for your good wishes and exhortations to do nothing. I promise I'm listening!
Yesterday, apart from a quick hoover round and washing the dishes, I did little. I did wash towels but I had already put them in the machine prior to my op and took them out with my grabber. It's a very useful device. I told my aunt about the state of the cupboards and she's said she will clean them for me 😱. That would be mortifying. I had a terrible night's sleep though. My feet and legs were so sore, I finally got up and made a cuppa at half past one.
Today I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver sunglasses and reading glasses. My sunglasses are prescription lenses so not much use now. The reading glasses will do until my other eye is done. The hospital said I'm already on the list for it and it shouldn't be long. I can have a job as the Bionic Woman! Tho most I will do today is change channel on the remote and sniff the air in the garden. Tonight's dinner will be spaghetti bolognaise, courtesy of dd. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud with a promise of sunshine later
A very Happy Birthday Marydoll ! 💐🎂🥂
So good to hear your DH is doing so well Gingster
I’m calling into DD2s this morning and then onto the gym for a Zumba class. I’m then planning to walk into town with a pal and treat myself to a coffee by the river. Simple pleasures but so enjoyable
That must have been frustrating for your DH Ash hope he’s home today with no problems
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from another beautiful sunny Suffolk where it will be all windows open in the village hall where I have my keep fit class.

DS was born 45 years ago on what was a very hot day. DH remembers how hot it was in the delivery suite in UCH at 1am. The TUC had called a day of action which meant that manu union members were on strike and there were very few buses running. We lived in north London and DH had to walk most of the way in to see you. A day to remember in so many ways.

The pub at the harbour of our nearest seaside town has a special offer on fish and chips for 2 on Wednesdays and Thursdays( but not during the school holidays) so I think we’ll pop down this evening. There is a drink included in the price too. Adnams still buys some of its fish locally too.

Hope all have the best day possible whatever your circumstances.

Morning from a sunny, dry S Hants, I watched a storm in the distance yesterday as Winchester had very heavy rain, not a drop here. MrJ gave my car a good clean out inside, he laughed about the rubbish in the door pockets, Christmas flyers!
Dentist this morning, not my favourite, sandals to collect from Cotton Traders later.
FGT and himself in my thoughts.
How trying for oldudders Ashcombe
Good news bellas relief all round

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Final packing and house checks before the off tomorrow. DH and I agreed that going away is much more worrying now.
Happy birthday Marydoll
Best wishes

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it feels much cooler.

Busy day yesterday, hair cut, charity shop shift then yarn group in the evening.

We had a huge donation from someone who referred to her ‘client’, turned out she was a professional life organiser and had worked with someone to let go of all the items she no longer had space for after downsizing. Who knew such a job existed.

Today I have food shopping and a birthday present to buy for the youngest DGC. No more birthdays till August thank goodness.

Glad to hear the little one is doing well Bella.

Happy birthday Marydoll.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

EkwaNimitee Wed 14-May-25 07:41:07

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very grey Carlisle.
Will it, won't it rain? Please!
I got my hose out yesterday afternoon intending to give the garden a good soaking but I was thwarted. I had a new outside tap fitted back in the spring and it requires a totally different connection on the hose...which I didn't have. After a lot of fiddling with various bits and bobs supplied with the hose, I have ordered what I hope are the necessary bits. We'll see...It will probably rain for the rest of the year if I'm successful.

Today, a morning involving ironing and cleaning bathrooms, hopefully followed by gardening. I made it to the garden centre yesterday morning, it took twice as long as it meant a detour through the city centre and a back road thanks to all the road works. They're mega and it looks like there will be many more months before it's all done.
Anyway, the end result is that I now have a goodly collection of plants to go in. I was thankful to get my beloved lobelias at last, are they going out of fashion?

Finally...a very happy birthday to you Marydoll !

Marydoll Wed 14-May-25 07:37:49

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C, with a sunny day forecast for later,

Today is my seventieth birthday and it was snowing the day I was born!

Good to hear that your DGS is doing well and hoping all is well with you GMB.

Last night I had an unexpected visit from Dollie and DS, He is away on business today and wanted to wish me happy birthday.
While they were here, the Ebay Queen visited with a gift. Her husband, DH's golfing partner goes into hospital for six weeks intensive chemo this morning, prior to a bone marrow transplant. It was quite a sad visit.

DH and I had planned to go out for lunch, but I have to have clinical photos taken today. Also I am not feeling too well and having trouble eating. Therefore, we have put it on hold and hopefully go out on Friday.
We will have takeaway tonight , enabling me to pick away (and the best part), no cooking!
No doubt DD will pop in later and I will see Babydoll and her daddy tomorrow.

Hoping to hear from FGT

Thank you GNHQ for sorting the photo issue.

P.S, DH has just come up with my cuppa and has given me some lovely gifts of jewellery, including a beautiful gold topaz ring. 💕
He has a stash of gifts he keeps for different occasions.
Among the gifts today, were some winter sweaters. I had to smile, it was 22°C here yesterday. I am ungrateful wretch!😉

ginny Wed 14-May-25 07:37:16

Good morning. A bit overcast here in N. Bucks but no idea of the forecast .

This morning I will start on the shortening of some curtains.
Craft club this afternoon where I shall get them started on the project but will be leaving early.
I bought DH tickets to see Simon Reeve at the theatre in Aylesbury tonight . We shall leave in good time and have a meal on the way.
Happy birthday Marydoll.
Wishing all a good day.

Gingster Wed 14-May-25 07:33:27

Happy birthday Marydoll. Have a lovely day 🥳.

Gingster Wed 14-May-25 07:30:47

Good morning all and another beauty!

Yesterday Dh and I did some gardening. Him ,sitting mostly, and pointing out weeds and some things that needed tying up and cutting back. He did do the watering and walked around ‘freestyle’ with me keeping in the vicinity ready with a steadying arm. He’s doing well 🙏.

Today I need to get into town, so will meet my friend for a quick coffee and a run back down the hill, in time for the physio at 12.15.

I’ll finish Conclave today too. It’s a fascinating read. I’m waiting for the film to come on Sky.

What a nuisance for your Dh, Ash.
Glad your little chap is back from his op and his twin will be reassured Bellasnanna. 👬.

Best to ignore the trolls - they’ll soon get bored if they don’t have an ‘audience’.

FGT hope things are being dealt with and himself is feeling more comfortable. 🙏.

Take care all 🪴

glammagran Wed 14-May-25 07:29:42

Good morning all.

We had a very brief 3 minute shower yesterday afternoon which didn’t have any impact on how dry everywhere is.

I’m so pleased your littlest GS is back home after his surgery Bella and hope he makes a quick recovery. It must have been most unsettling for his twin to have been separated from him.

Best wishes to your DH for today FGT2.

Have a good day everyone.

Borrheid55 Wed 14-May-25 07:24:09

Marydoll Happy birthday! I had a blood test at 07;10 hence the early message! Back later ! X

monk08 Wed 14-May-25 07:15:05

Good morning all from the Black country still no rain here, my brother south side of the city had rain and thunderstorms but it missed us.
Water board came yesterday but are unable to fit a meter due to the placement of our stopcock so it looks like we shall be paying their latest inflated bill.
Playgroup duty this morning then perhaps a walk round the park.
Glad your little one is home and recovering Bellasnanna.
Happy birthday Marydoll enjoy your day 🎉🎂🎁..
Thinking of the FGTs
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 14-May-25 07:11:28

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels warm and just a little muggy.

We are meeting very old friends for lunch. They are much older than us in years too!

It is the local history society tonight. Someone will give a talk on Blenheim Palace. I will go along with or without OH!

I hope the FGT2S have a positive visit to the hospital. I’ll be thinking of then.

NannyJan53 Wed 14-May-25 07:10:27

Good morning from another bright and sunny Black Country.

Busy day yesterday, over to Mums where we went out for lunch, then to her Bank to sort out Savings accounts. Then onto hairdressers for her appointment. Then onto Lidl for food shopping for her.

A walk this afternoon as part of a Walking Festival, hope it isn't as hot as yesterday!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-May-25 07:08:50

Good morning from another glorious sunny day 🌞

Gym first thing, then no plans other than to enjoy this beautiful weather.

We booked a holiday yesterday, yippee! I shall need it after Granny duties over the half term…

Good your DGS is recovering well Bellasnana

Not the best journey home for your DH Ashcombe

(((Hugs))) to all our poorly and troubled morning friends 🙋‍♀️
