Wyllow3. It really is pathetic. He would prefer a Democrat Government run by anonymous people? Because gosh knows, Biden was not capable for all the 4 years he was President. If anyone is corrupt, it is surely the Democratic Party and the liberal left media.

You are completely entitled to your views, as you are to support whom you please, however please don’t be surprised when you get critiqued from both sides of the pond.

Those with a voice should, and do, use it to speak out against injustice and what they may feel is an erosion of their rights.

I can remember, on many occasions, the award ceremonies being used to do just this, Jane Fonda and Glenda Jackson spring to mind, singers like Billy Bragg, long may it continue!

How dare he use this platform to express his vile political views. Stick to singing Bruce, and you can stay in the UK. You’re not welcome back here.

We are trying to control hate speech & incitment to acts of terrorism.
That's OK by me as even though it infringes the haters' right to free speech, if we allowed it that infringes my right to go to London or out to a pop concert or a pub without having to risk being maimed or killed in an act of terrorism.

Absolutely agree 100 % anything nasty I don’t want to hear about it.

I am agreeing to what BS is saying- but are we not moving in the same way? To ban free speech?
I haven’t listened to anything Trump has to say so don’t know what is going on with him.

Maremia Fri 16-May-25 17:57:36

Music to my ears. Thanks Cossy, for the post.

Mt61 Fri 16-May-25 17:09:17

I am not biased against any party, I didn’t vote. I am talking about freedom of speech. To a point it should be allowed.

Littlebea02 Fri 16-May-25 16:44:44

And by the way Britain is nothing like the USA which is why I am here and have been for 30 years with my daughter I know things are tough on loads of levels but there is freedom of choice. Mr. Trump now wants to do away with the rights of children born in the USA to be citizens oh my goodness gracious! He really does not like humanity does he!!

Littlebea02 Fri 16-May-25 16:42:09

It is so wonderful to hear someone such as Bruce Springsteen stand up against this insanity pointed out and be a palled at it

When your president says he’s not sure he will obey the Constitution that pretty much says it all and and he still in office absolutely astonishing!

I hope more folks such as Bruce Springsteen will say something it seems to be our generation I’d like the younger generation to stand up or they will lose their democratic way of life-The writings on the wall has been for a very long time!

Susieq62 Fri 16-May-25 16:33:09

Many artists have political views going back to the songs related to slavery, Labi Siffre “Something Inside So Strong” etc
They make us think,, react , object, fight back! Good for Bruce ! Wish I had a ticket

Brilliant speech Bruce 👍

Phenomenal Bruce Springstein.

You should go into Politics ( Democratic party of course ) ..

And fire this ship of fools in Congress ( Maga ) ..

sunglow12 Fri 16-May-25 15:36:18

Having seen Bruce Springsteen he is a great musician, performer and man .

lafergar Fri 16-May-25 15:23:55

LP done that is blatantly illegal

Any examples at all?

elljayaitch Fri 16-May-25 14:52:18

Go Bruce! He is telling it like it is - in his opinion. I happen to agree with him - every day brings a new tale of despair or rage from USA . I’m off to see him next Tuesday - and I hope he does the same again - and keeps saying it until things change - “All that needs to happen for evil to prosper is that good men do nothing” and in my Bruce Springsteen is a good man who is trying to do something!! Nothing new in that - he’s been standing up for - and helping - the downtrodden for as long as I can remember - I’ve been a fan since the late 70s - I doubt he’ll change his attitudes now

Mmc123uk Fri 16-May-25 14:52:05

Nothing like Britain at all ..our checks & balances are still in place, what have the current LP done that is blatantly illegal & where have they reneged on agreed government spending...?

Mmc123uk Fri 16-May-25 14:47:29

Mt61 I think you may be a little biased against the present regime in Britain. You may feel that there are similarities with Mr Trump's USA but I see no signs, here, of
Removing reproductive choices for women
Telling universities to teach only the history approved by the leaders
Arresting judges for applying the law
Debating the removal of Habeas Corpus
I could go on..

Absolutely agree & the really scary thing for me us that he had to say it loud & clear as none of it is being covered by the mainstream media here or in the US ..I find the lack of challenge to the Democrats illegal actions astonishing. There really does appear to be a lunatic running the asylum 😮‍💨

Wyllow3 Fri 16-May-25 14:41:40

I think its very good to hear and relevant right now what he has to say in the UK, for many of us do not want to go down the road that the USA is - its a wake up call, but not forced down our throats or at length, instead links in with an appeal to heart and soul which is the music.

Earthmother9 Fri 16-May-25 14:33:12

And so say all of us. Amen.

Pharrower Fri 16-May-25 14:19:48

Bruce’s shows are still three hours long ; he rarely pauses and this is merely a blink in between the blistering music . I have seen Bruce five times in the last two years and have tickets for another three shows this year . As a fan , I would be happy to pay “good money” JUST to hear him speak . His lyrics have long been political and his beliefs are at the heart of his performance . Anyone who doesn’t know that shouldn’t go , but at risk of missing the best entertainer I have ever experienced.

knspol Fri 16-May-25 14:12:36

I've been to several concerts and had to listen to the artist express their political opinions and although I agreed with many of them I have always thought it's the wrong place to do this.
I'm a Boss fan, have seen him many times in the US and UK but do wonder if it would be more to the point to express these views (which I agree with) in the US where he would no doubt influence people with the vote to do something about it.

Erikaxx Fri 16-May-25 13:53:16

He is a hero in my eyes
