Anybody else find this advert about people smelling around men's genitals and backsides repulsive cos I do

pably15 Fri 16-May-25 18:31:49

This advert is really disgusting, I cringe every time it's on the telly...

Allsorts Fri 16-May-25 18:19:23

I don't think a man should be using those products on his genitels, soap and water enough and safer. The advert is crude and there are a lot of other tacky ones now, it puts me off the products.

Yeuuuuuuuck!

Skydancer Fri 16-May-25 17:10:19

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any worse….

Pudding123 Fri 16-May-25 17:09:46

Totally agree with all of the comments on here,I couldn't quite believe how awful this advert was .

Witzend Fri 16-May-25 16:37:45

Decorum is evidently an outdated concept!

MayBee70 Fri 16-May-25 16:14:08

I am fed up of people being made aware of smells that they weren’t aware of ( probably because they don’t exist anyway) and being shamed into buying unnecessary things. Plug ins, bathroom fresheners; things to make freshly laundered washing smell of sickly perfumes. None if which is good for the environment.

I have never wanted to smell a male bottom, I cannot think of anything worse. This advert is disgusting, as is the Pepto Bismol one where some ugly men pat their no doubt smelly bottoms because they have "diarrhoea". Is the Advertising Standards Authority still in existence??

I don’t remember Pepto Bismol being advertised before? I remember trying to buy it from a chemist years ago but stupidly mentioned that it was for my dog and they said sorry but, because you’ve told us that we can’t sell it to you. Of course, I went straight to another chemist and bought some. Is it American? I don’t think I used it much because it’s still in my medicine cupboard.

If my Mum and Dad could come back now, they wouldn't believe what they were seeing.

Yup , I thought that. Pretty horrible.
I'm just watching "Admen" at the moment( a decade later than everyone else, no doubt).
The lead character describes advertising as being about "happiness". Either things have changed or Advertising has.
I suppose the ghastly bottom -half ad has been focus-grouped to death so presumably it is society that has changed.

Yes I am actually quoting myself......

I did of course mean "Madmen"........
I could probably forgive " Don Draper" most things.........

Awful
And is it sensible spraying deodorant in such a sensitive area?

No, it is not. We have been told for the last forty years or so that neither sex should use soap, perfume, talcum or deodorants anywhere near their genitals or anus.

Granmarderby10 Fri 16-May-25 14:41:03

Also on the subject of “normalisation”. Has anyone ever clicked on Youtube out of sheer curiosity, even boredom to be offered sage advice and tips on how not to smell like an old woman( Americans say seniors) and it is always Americans do these videos.

Most enlightening (not) they are imo just crackers most of them.

But sure as a Wherthers Original will stick to the lining of your handbag someone will be making a fortune from this neurotic claptrap.

DancingDuck Fri 16-May-25 14:36:09

I don't understand how this has even got through the TV advertising standards - what if this were men sniffing at womens bottoms and following them ? It's not a message I would want associated with a product.

Calendargirl Fri 16-May-25 14:33:21

Oh for the ‘innocent’ advertising days of ‘Mad Men’, back in the 50’s.

Come back, Don Draper, all is forgiven!

No I think it is part of a genuine attempt to normalise all bodily functions and any problems there in. 🫢

It will soon become as normal as for example ads for Andrex or Colgate toothpaste or armpit deodorants.
AND of course lots and lots of money will be made off the back of it.🤗

The latest Andrex school advert is pretty cringeworthy too

I agree David49 its dreadful as is the deodorant spray one for different reasons.

Lathyrus3 Fri 16-May-25 10:17:09

Frankly I think encouraging men to spray themselves “down there” could lead to a lot of problems for the women they have sex with.

Has this product been thoroughly tested?

Whingey Fri 16-May-25 10:09:11

It was called Femfresh. Don't have TV but it sounds revolting!

Cossy Fri 16-May-25 07:42:01

🤮🤮🤮🤮 That’s how it makes me feel, along with some others we could live without!

I thought that spraying deodorant round the genital area was frowned upon several years ago when it was marketed for feminine hygiene.

The conclusion was it wasn’t necessary and could lead to problems.

Can’t recall the product name ‘Feminax’ or similar?

nanna8 Fri 16-May-25 05:20:44

Foul- so far we haven’t got that one. Talk about plumbing the depths. Literally.

Macadia Fri 16-May-25 04:16:43

*self concious ?

Macadia Fri 16-May-25 04:16:16

I suppose it is just a marketing scheme to.make boys and men feel subconcious and fèel there is something wong with them unless rhey buy products. Ho Hum.
