What a horrid time of it you are having FGT2 and your DH.
Fingers crossed he’s turned the corner. Sending hugs.

Just torrential rain here and a couple of rumbles of thunder this afternoon.

kittylester Sun 20-Jul-25 21:58:36

Great to see you fgt and thanks for the update. Sending you both gentle hugs.

We have had tremendous thunderstorms tonight but no lightning. Hope it's over. TOYA

Grannydaisy1 Sun 20-Jul-25 21:34:25

brook2704 Sun 20-Jul-25 21:21:55

Hope your DH is doing ok SueD thinking of you too
Sorry to hear about your scan results yia but hopefully the meds will help

Allira Sun 20-Jul-25 21:15:36

FriedGreenTomatoes2 sending TLC to you both I'm glad *Mr FGT is feeling safe and is being well cared for.
🤗

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 20-Jul-25 21:05:31

Popping into this comfort zone to say Himself has been an in patient in the Christie hospital for a week now. It’s been a very anxious time for both of us. Tears have been shed by both of us but 🤞 we hope a corner is being turned, albeit slowly. He’s in good hands and said he ‘feels safe’. It’s been such a torrid week.

One of the doctors came in to change one of his iv bags at teatime. She just uses her first name. “I always like coming to Bed 2 you are one of my favourite patients”. Aw. Such TLC. No wonder he’s responding eh?

Warmed sausage rolls now ready for my supper then a read and a mug of peppermint tea. I’m more relaxed tonight than I have been for about 3 weeks. I feel this evening I can drop my shoulders down from my ears.

Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner. Tough times are exhausting and my heart goes out tonight to all who are struggling. When you have worries, it’s all you can think about really. Distraction helps a bit but anxiety overwhelms. x

SueDonim Sun 20-Jul-25 19:46:34

I’ve popped in as I see that a new Kitchen will be required soon. I hadn’t expected such sad news of Hellogirl. flowers

FGT I’m so sorry for your dear man’s troubles. I hope he begins to improve and you can have quality time together. I understand the exhaustion you will be feeling. flowers

Poor Soop, she certainly has her crosses to bear. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

TOYA. Xxx

Good evening, the sun is shining but there are dark clouds inland and we have thunderstorms forecast for early tomorrow.

I have had a lazy day, the teens have done their thing, spoke to DH in the phone and then rang DD.

I think I will have an early night.

Redcar Sun 20-Jul-25 19:11:26

Hello everyone. We’ve had a sunny afternoon after a showery morning, more rain forecast for tomorrow. The garden is loving it!
DD1 and family came over in between swimming and horse riding lessons today, I provided a snack lunch which involved a walk to the village shop for supplies!

yiayia osteopenia isn’t good news but hopefully medication will stop it developing into full blown osteoporosis.

jaxjacky shame you didn’t win in the meat draw!

I hope the soops have recovered from their long journey to hospital & that the buggerations aren’t causing too much trouble.
Thinking of the fgts.
Have a peaceful evening folks.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 20-Jul-25 19:06:05

Good evening all.
I went out for Sunday lunch with a friend, she took me for my birthday, all the celebrations are over now.
It was such hard work.
She is “slightly losing it” and is very very deaf, everything has to be repeated, not once but two or three times and very loudly.
She is very lonely, hardly sees a soul from one week to the next but next week her D is fetching her for a few days with them, quite a distance away.
I have faint hopes that she will see a change in her mum since last spending time with her and maybe act on it.

I didn’t get to the carnival, it rained solidly all day but cleared up in the evening and I took a glass( or two) of wine outside and sat for about three hours.
My H and I did that whenever we could.

Sorry about your Son Jaxjacky but may have saved more problems later.
Yia I hope your meds work for you.

Grannmarie your little break will have done you good.

Apologies now to those I have missed I am sure to have done some but I get confused when I scroll back and often lose my post.
I had such a huge lunch that Iam having a cup of tea and a piece of lemon cake my GD bought on a trip to Waitrose today.

Have the best evening you can everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Jul-25 18:42:30

Hi all, greater love hath a pack of frozen peas Grannmarie! I’m pleased you enjoyed your break.
Thanks brook 63, the requested dinner, that’s on the way with homemade stuffing defrosted, he’s seen both children - chocolates and beer.
Pub for meat draw, no luck, but my son won a huge rump steak, we won nothing!
It’s been a sun/cloud day after heavy rain last night, garden is loving it.
Thinking tonight of those having a tricky time right now, we’re very fortunate 🌹

Yiayia4 Sun 20-Jul-25 18:35:35

Evening Kitcheners, lots of rain this morning but the sun is out for now.

brook2704 Sun 20-Jul-25 17:22:50

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been raining most of the afternoon here although it did brighten up for a couple of hours this afternoon so I enjoyed a short spell outside in the garden. Light rain again now
Hope *Mr Jax is enjoying his birthday today and his roast chicken dinner
Sounds like your 5yr old eats well GG13 well done 👍
Hi 👋 to all in the quiet corner, take care all x

GrannyGravy13 Sat 19-Jul-25 23:13:14

Back at DS3’s after a lovely pre dinner drinks with the teens, then we were joined with DS4 and his family and they had picked up DH on the way. Delicious food,,excellent service.

Our 5yr old (not the imp) enjoyed an adult portion of seafood linguine, I had sole ln the bone.

There is a party going full on a couple of houses down, I hope the rain stays away and they have a fabulous party.

brook2704 Sat 19-Jul-25 22:07:02

Oh dear poor Bertie 💔
So lovely to have you back with us after your holiday grannmarie, I too suffer from swollen feet and ankles in hot weather, a good excuse to put my feet up with a book. Good that your physio appt is through at last
Rain too here Redcar it’ll do the garden good but I bet lots more weeds will spring up overnight
👋 Blossoming 💐

Jaxjacky Sat 19-Jul-25 21:32:16

Well remembered kitty she was managing it for the owner, them moved to another of theirs, she will return, time will heal.
Poor Bertie, first love 🧡

Redcar Sat 19-Jul-25 20:44:53

grannmarie so pleased you had a good break in Menorca with your sisters. I think a swimming pool is the best place to be when it’s very hot. It’s good you have a physio appointment but a shame you’ve had to wait so long for it.
jaxjacky I’m sorry to hear about your son and his ex, a difficult time for you all.
I cleared out a box of free samples of cosmetics and products that I’ve collected over a year or so. I threw away most of them, but put some into the bathroom to use. A lot more sorting out to do when I feel enthusiastic!
We’ve had quite a bit of rain today, so no watering this evening.
Night night everyone, enjoy the rest of your evening.

Blossoming Sat 19-Jul-25 20:31:58

Just waving from the quiet corner ♥️

kittylester Sat 19-Jul-25 20:30:36

Jax, so sorry to hear about your son. As you said, better now than later but sad and, maybe painful. Do I recall that your son's ex fiance runs the pub you use? Or am I totally wrong.

Equally traumatically (!!), Bertie (13) has been dumped by his girlfriend.

Grannmarie Sat 19-Jul-25 20:27:24

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. I'm just catching up after our few days away and I'm sorry to hear of such sadness and sorrow in the kitchen.

Dear Soop, what a long journey for you both, I hope your consultation was helpful to your situation. Mr Soop is a super star 🌟, thinking of you both. Thank you Baggs.

FGT, thinking of you and Himself, hoping and praying that the new stent makes a big difference. Look after yourself too. ❤️🙏

So sorry to hear that Hellogirl has died, may she rest in peace. Condolences to her family. 🙏🕯

Cornergran, I hope your eye procedures bring you lasting relief.

UsedToBeBlonde, it's been raining here too, I hope you got a dry spell to visit your local carnival.

Jaxjacky, sorry to hear about your son, difficult days indeed, sad for him and for the family.

Brook, snap! I'm overdue a wardrobe clearout. Recently I cleared out two drawers and I felt very chuffed with myself! I'm realising that my aims need to be achievable in small steps these days.

Grandmabatty, hope you're home safe and sound from your family holiday.

I had a lovely wee break in Menorca, my sisters spoiled me, even to the extent of buying two packets of frozen peas for my swollen ankles! Home yesterday evening. It was very warm, 32/33 degrees, so I spent some of the time up to my neck in the pool just walking around and doing gentle exercises. I have my physio appointment now for August, from my Easter Sunday referral! Better late than never...

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep.
TOYA, NNGB.

Jax thinking of you and your son and grandson 💕

brook2704 Sat 19-Jul-25 19:28:53

Oh thats sad for your son Jax but like you say better now than later, it’s tough though. Your tomatoes look good 👍
I made a half hearted start on tidying the bedroom drawers but then it stopped raining so I was back outside in the garden.
Chicken Kiev for dinner with new potatoes and veg, almost ready then I’ll settle down and find something to watch on the TV. Cant believe we forgot to buy a bottle of white wine yesterday, so we’re still on the post holiday detox for a bit longer 🥴
Take care all x

Jaxjacky Sat 19-Jul-25 18:45:28

Hi all, we had our rain overnight, that was it for now, so the grass is still straw, but it saved getting the hose out tonight.
MrJ, my son and grandson played golf this morning whilst I washed my hair and read the paper, #lazygran FGT 🙂
My son and his erstwhile fiancée have called it a day, so the last week has been quite wearing, the end of any relationship is sad, we’ve known her for five years. But, better now than later.
This afternoon I've been sorting out my foot stool, it has quite large capacity, therefore full of ‘stuff’, then I tackled ‘the drawer’ another repository of ‘useful bits’. Tidy now, but it won’t be long!
I too hope you whizzed up to the carnival utbb sounds fun.
Pleased to see red tomatoes ready to munch.
Thoughts with those struggling, we have a few sadly in soops kitchen 🌹

Aldom Sat 19-Jul-25 14:09:43

Thank you for updating us*Baggs*.
My love to the Soops.

FGT keeping you in my thoughts. We have recent experience similar to yours.

My condolences to the family of Hello girl. Sad to hear of her death. flowers

brook2704 Sat 19-Jul-25 14:06:11

Hi kitchen pals I’ve just come in from the garden as the rain has now arrived up here in Inverness, it’s still very warm though about 23°
I hope Mr&Mrs Soop are doing ok today, so hard for them both at the moment
Hoping things are a bit better soon for Fgt and her DH
I hope it’s brightened up a bit for the carnival day uttb and you can go along
I’m not sure what to do with the rest of today, I could do with tidying the bedroom drawers, sorting through summer clothes and getting rid of those I don’t wear any more
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
