Welcome! Please make yourselves comfortable. I thank you all for your patience and support throughout the times that we've shared. flowers

I’m thinking of fgt and her DH and hope the scan results are good.

I had a panic last night & this morning when I lost my email connection to the iPad. Dear son in law 1 came to my rescue in between his work meetings!
After this morning’s heavy rain I’ve given up all thoughts of propping up my rose bush as most of it has slumped into the lawn. I’ll have to cut it back as much as I can and hope it will grow back again!
A food delivery this afternoon and then I need to arrange for the delivery of some balloons for my godmother’s 100th birthday party next week!

Grandmabatty Thu 05-Jun-25 12:32:13

Grannmarie I was in my jammies til ten this morning! They sound like useful appointments for you. FGT I hope all goes well today.
Hoovering done, dishwasher emptied and loaded, kitchen tidied. I'm off soon to work on the school library for a while. It's very cold here so the big cardi is on! Enjoy your afternoon Kitcheners

Grannmarie Thu 05-Jun-25 12:27:17

Sending love and prayers for Himself and all who need/ wish them. Special thoughts to FGT and all caring for or worried about loved ones.
💕🙏💕

Great to hear from the Soops, onwards and upwards!

Not long now, Niene, hoping and praying that everything goes well for your upcoming nuptials! ⛪ 💕 💍

Thinking of Jaxjacky's DGS and brook's DGD, hope things improve for them very soon.

Sounds like normal service has been resumed, Grandmabatty, you're back in Supergran mode!

I've appointments this afternoon, podiatry followed by massage, must head for the shower, I've been doing the housework in my jammies!🤣
TOYA, especially those in the quiet corner.

Naughtyneine Thu 05-Jun-25 11:51:36

I think it's today that FGT and himself have their hospital visit so sending them lots of love and fingers crossed.

‘I’m sure’

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 04-Jun-25 22:32:36

Hello kitchen people.

So good to hear from Soop. It’s wonderful that she had such a good time with her family and that medical matters are finally moving forward!

Sleep 💤 tight.

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Jun-25 21:43:22

Redcar well done you! A very productive day for you

cornergran Wed 04-Jun-25 20:50:48

Hello everyone

Cornerland continues to be frustrating. Today was yet another fight with British Gas over our no longer smart meter. It’s not worked since April last year. Don’t ask how many hours of my time it’s stolen. I can expect a phone call on Friday from a ‘problem solver’. I have no expectation of success. Just one of those weeks.

Our climbing roses are being annihilated by the wind redcar. I’m losing the battle to keep them tidy. Looking back at previous years they were so much better by now. Strong winds are so destructive.

Really good to see you soop. I’m delighted you’ve had fun, spirit lifting family time. Healing vibes head to you both.

I do empathise grandmab. My always fine hair is getting so thin it’s almost transparent. The very young hairdresser is remarkably understanding of my anxieties. Oh for hair that needed thinning. I’m envious jax.

The best of luck with the organisation neine. You’ll get there, I know you will. It’s worth concentrating, you’re worth it.

Wonderful progress blossoming. Slowly does it.

Understand the anxieties yia, all will be well I’m sure but do tell the staff you’re anxious, I’m there would be support if you did.

Must be off. There’s a glass of wine waiting for me as a mid week treat.

Rest well everyone. Love to all.

Redcar Wed 04-Jun-25 19:47:39

Lovely to see your post soop and good that progress is at last being made re your hernia support. I hope it makes life a bit more comfortable for you. It’s also good that social services can provide you with some disability aids for your house. I hope your poor DH’s wounds heal, albeit slowly.

brook after another windy day with some rain, my poor rose is looking very sad! I have some very large flower pots and may try to prop some of the branches on them tomorrow, weather permitting. There are plant supports under the branches, but they’re bent double so no earthly use!
blossoming good to hear that you’re making progress, using a hair dryer isn’t easy, but is another step on the way to normality.

neine not long to wait now! I hope all the preparations are going smoothly.

I felt obliged to do some housework today, vacuumed the stairs, landing and bedrooms, dusted the bannister rail and the spindles and wiped down the doors and my bedroom. I’m now feeling a bit tired and very virtuous.
Have a peaceful evening everyone, night night.

brook2704 Wed 04-Jun-25 19:01:08

The flowers from your garden are really pretty Jax the peonies are such a beautiful colour
I hope you manage to find a solution to prop up the roses Redcar
Hoping you both enjoyed the pottery llfl, I’m always impressed with how many varied and interesting things you do, well done to you
Lots going on neine you sound really busy, hoping all the wedding preparations are going well
Good to hear you’re making such good progress Blossoming

Dinner is just about ready, it’s just quiche and salad so quick and easy. I know it’s only Wednesday but some wine might just be enjoyed too 😀

brook2704 Wed 04-Jun-25 18:38:10

Lovely to hear from you Soop and catch up on all your news, you’ve been missed!
Thank you all for your kind supportive comments about DGDs troubles at school, a few changes have been made following DD2s meeting with the head teacher so will see how things go. I hope Fin gets the support he needs too Jax, it’s so difficult seeing them unhappy when you can’t really do much to help
A kind hairdresser grandmabatty ❤️
Hope all goes well with the heart monitor Yia snd the results are good
It’s been a sunny blustery day here, I enjoyed the Zumba class with some new gym pals.
Thinking of everyone especially those in the quiet corner, love to all x

Blossoming Wed 04-Jun-25 17:57:47

Lovely to hear from you Soop, glad that you enjoyed your family time and progress is being made in other areas. It was a real eye opener for me finding out what aids and adaptations were available when I got home from hospital.
A busy time for you too Neine, exciting and possibly a little daunting at the moment. I’m sure it will all be worth it ♥️
All the Kitcheners are such busy bees at the moment, I feel terribly lazy! We have been out for our regular afternoon walk, the weather is warm and sunny but there’s a chill breeze near the river. I’m progressing, I’m now safe to have a shower by myself but I won’t attempt it if I’m alone in the house! I’m also managing to use the blow dryer, it’s easy with my newly bobbed hair. These are all small things but they greatly increase my sense of wellbeing
Wishing you all the very best x

Yiayia4 Wed 04-Jun-25 17:25:06

Lovely to hear from you Soop.At last some better news.🌻
Not long now Neine you must be getting excited.🥰

DH saw his urologist yesterday. They have delayed the operation as his blood isn’t clotting as it should.More tests but will be put on hold for now not very hopeful but, better to be safe.
I have the heart monitor fitted tomorrow and return it on Friday.Next Thursday I’m having an echocardiogram.I’m such a wimp and dread it all but I know it’s to check all is ok.

Brook and Jax I hope your Gd and Gs get the problems sorted at school,it’s awful if they are unhappy.

Enjoy your evening all just started raining here.

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Jun-25 16:41:44

Afternoon everyone, my daughter called in this morning bearing Greggs gash food, MrJ is happy. I took my friend out to lunch for her birthday, from there to another friend who thinned out and trimmed my mop, then to my son’s house to drop a coat back. Quiet evening planned.
That sounds hopeful soop much better news, I'm pleased you had a lovely time with your visitors.
Better get your skates on neine three weeks will whiz past, hope your hair is wedding ready.

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Jun-25 16:01:27

Good to hear from you Soop. Fingers crossed about your 'support'. Not so good about Mr Soops leg

soop Wed 04-Jun-25 15:10:04

Good afternoon to all our dear Kitcheners. I be back in circulation! I hasten to add that I have yet to read through several pages of happenings. Please be understanding. wink

The week with visitors was blisteringly busy but an enormous treat...the blethering was non-stop. The weather was kind and we were able to visit all the locations on our long list. The three Australian visitors, including two nieces of Mr Soop stayed for one day. They are participating in a "grand tour" of sightseeing and connecting with family and friends living in several countries. I truly admire their stamina. My son and our grandson were wonderfully kind and caring company. Sadly, my son's partner had to remain in London. A member of her family was suddenly admitted to hospital with epiglottitis and put into an induced coma for several days. Thankfully, all is now well. We are now hoping to meet up in the not too distant future in Glasgow.

After endless referrals to have my parastomal hernia measured for a bespoke support, hey presto, I was referred to a clinic in Lochgilphead hospital and have had measurements taken by an "expert" in such matters. I shall need to return for at least two fittings before the garment is finished. At last a light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel.

Also, deep breath, Social Services have visited us. I have several "aids" that promise to make getting around the house/getting in and out of bed/bathroom visits etc.,less hazardous. I am so grateful.

My young sister's humanist funeral will take place a week on Monday. We have a code to use on the computer screen which will enable us to attend the ceremony in spirit.

Mr Soop is away having his scalp dressing changed. The donor site; his thigh, remains extremely sore and refuses to heal. He's to see the surgeon who performed the op', in Glasgow, in the very near future.

I apologise if I have bored you witless. If I had a laptop it would enable me to read ALL your posts in one go from my comfy easy chair. As it happens, I am perched on the stool at the computer desk...and that, in one word, is a buggeration! wink

My love to you all. It is good to be back in our kitchen. smile

Grandmabatty Wed 04-Jun-25 15:03:14

Neine you are very kind. 💐
This morning I had a haircut. My lovely hairdresser usually gives me a freebie and today he excelled himself. He gave me a hair thickener pack which is usually expensive and wouldn't take anything for it.
Back home, I did some more work in the boys room then went to the school library and worked there for an hour and a half. I'm back home and watching tv for a bit before a quick hoover round. I hope Soop is well. Enjoy the rest of your day Kitcheners

Naughtyneine Wed 04-Jun-25 08:36:48

Morning everyone. I'm so behind with everything.
Belated ( very) Happy Birthdays...
Granmabatty... You will be remembered as a kind loving Grandma ( and Mum and daughter) and that's precious.
I was once asked at an interview what my greatest achievement was...I had no hesitation in saying ...my 4 daughters ( this was before the GC came along).
Blossoming... Lots of good things happening for both of you... You so deserve it.
Brook....girls can be so cruel and at such an early age too. I really hope it can be resolved and soon. Unkindness can stay with you a lifetime...I was called four eyes and fleabag at Junior school ( I had glasses at the time but definitely no fleas). It wasn't until I was in the Lower Sixth at the Grammar School that I came into my own and was part of ' the group' and then realised I didn't need to be anything other than me.
Jax...we had loads of rain yesterday which was perfect as I cleaned up at The Range finding Pelargoniums reduced to 50p...(15 of them may have fallen into my trolley). Fingers crossed for Ofsted...that really is short notice!!!
LLFL...I hope you are feeling a bit happier / better today. It can't be easy having a 'situation ' between your son's. Let's hope they realise that life is too short to fall out with people especially those we love. The pottery sounds fun....are you now West Oxfordshire's answer to Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore?
Redcar...I hope your lovely rose gets supported soon...Happy Memories for you.
Corner...is it 18 months...wow where did that go? Well done Mr C...keep it up.
Yia.. I'm so glad you had a fabulous time in Corfu...just what you both needed I'm sure and I hope this week's back down to earth activities all go well.
FGTs...I hope all is well with you and himself... You keep popping into my mind as I'm off to Tarifa next week and flying into Málaga and hiring a car....( And trying to work out which company to rent from😱).
It's haircut day on Saturday ...I have no idea what to ask her to do... I've had my short pixie cut for so long that this shaggier look is driving me mad but friends say it's very soft... I've also got to factor in wearing something in my hair and to do that you have to have hair to clip it into...( Note the 'something'...here we are just over 3 weeks to go and the 'something' hasn't yet materialised 😱).
We've still to decide on the readings and hymns as well. Oops.

Love to you all... Especially those in the quiet corner.

Hello kitchen people.

An odd sort of day!

I woke up feeling a bit out of sorts and not well. I cancelled a visit to my friends this afternoon and basically lay on the sofa. I perked up around tea time and decided I was fit enough to go to the first of the four weekly pottery sessions I had signed me and OH up for. We had been inspired by the Pottery programme on Channel 4. Neither of us had used a wheel before and it was a hoot. We each made four items and each threw one away. It is harder than you think and my pots kept collapsing. We are looking forward to next week.

It is good to see you posting FGT2.

Sleep 💤 tight.

cornergran Tue 03-Jun-25 20:10:46

Your day sounds just right grandmab. One full of contentment and family.

I’ll not ramble on about all todays many and varied frustrations other than to say Mr C’s heart had better continue to behave well post surgery. We learned today as the cardiac hospital is under so much pressure he was moved from a one year to a two year review. Fair enough. He’s 18 months on from the last one. Then came the but, a big but for sure, all climic appointments are currently running at no less than 140 days behind. Goodness! Fortunately humour won as we wondered if we could fit two mobility scooters on the bus. If the delay remains he’ll be 86 or maybe 87. Our poor NHS.

One of ours had the same problem brook. Isn’t it hard not to be able to fix it?

Good to see you fgt.

Feet up time here. Rest well everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Jun-25 20:00:57

The mention of OFSTED still gives me the willies.

Redcar Tue 03-Jun-25 19:44:57

No rain for us today, although lots of dark clouds about , very frustrating!
It’s been very windy though and one of my rose bushes, full of flowers, is now resting most of its branches on the lawn. There’s no point in my trying to do anything with it until the wind drops and I’m really not sure how I’m going to prop it up. It’s a very pale pink and my DH bought it for me some years ago, I know if he was still here, he’d have some idea how to prop it up. It’s already being held up quite low down, with a tow rope and an angle iron! I may have to put together an old garden table to put under the branches. Will think about it!
Dentist today wasn’t too bad, I have a temporary crown on one tooth and a new filling on another.

brook I do feel for your poor DGD, my 10 year old had a similar problem last year. One of her best friends was afraid to take her side in case the bullies turned on her too. I think DGD left some of the clubs they all went to and made other friends. Fortunately it’s a very large junior school - 600+ pupils.
jaxjacky good luck to your DD with Ofsted!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Jun-25 19:30:52

Lots of rain today, yippee, but my peonies by and large have been finished off by the combination of rain and wind, but I did cut a couple yesterday.
Marvellous day for you both Blossoming 👍 real progress, im pleased for you
An indoor day, online admin, reluctant upstairs dust and hoover, food out of the freezer for the next couple of days.
My daughter rang, they’ve got Ofsted in for a couple of days, notified yesterday, her phone was pinging last night apparently!
Fin is still not settling at seniors brook it’s very difficult, awaiting an EHCP, without that rather stymied, I hope your granddaughter finds her struggles improving, girls can be vicious.

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Jun-25 19:28:40
