Hi all, now that is Greece Yia thank you.
Another breezy day, my peonies are hanging on and still intact, just, the temperature tomorrow is forecast 16!! I may need the blankets from Covid garden visits, remember them?
Finished off hanging baskets and pots, all watered in, farm shop had no parking, I’ll try tomorrow, I’m after new potatoes and watercress for the bbq.
Sleep well tonight Doodle as I hope FGT and himself are doing, quiet corner need a hug too 👋

GrannyGravy13 Sun 25-May-25 20:14:05

DD and her boys have gone, dishwasher is doing its thing, I have collapsed on the sofa.

Signing off 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Sun 25-May-25 19:47:40

A very windy day here, but no more rain. The soil in the garden will soon dry out again with the wind and sun.
DD1 and family came over late morning and cut back my next door neighbour’s shrubs, the granddaughters made a den in the garden using garden chairs and a blanket! I can see my lovely pink rose bush again. I’ll give it some water and a feed tomorrow.
I had a FaceTime call from DD2 this afternoon which was lovely, littlest doesn’t care much for the food so isn’t eating much, hopefully chips will be on tonight’s menu! DD2 will ring again on Tuesday when I’m looking after DD1’s dog.
A few catching up tasks tomorrow before I go to DD1’s on Tuesday.
I hope you’ll soon be in less pain doodle.
I like sound of your snail corner I’ll have a look in our garden centre, they have quite a selection of novelty decorations for the garden!
yiayia lovely photos!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

GBatty you made me smile. When DD3 left the Idiot, she lived with us and made beautiful wedding cakes but stopped when she bought got her own house as it was too messy. After 8 years, I think we have got rid of the sticky.

Grandmabatty Sun 25-May-25 18:33:02

Yiayia those are lovely photos. Brook it sounds like you have had a good day. Very showery and breezy here all day.
Today I looked after the boys to let dd and Dsil take a wedding cake to Helensburgh. Dd has decided to leave off cake making for a while as it's very time consuming. She has a first communion cake to make next weekend and that'll be it for a while. I'll get my KitchenAid back! The boys were really well behaved and drew a lot. They have both developed an interest in art. Ds brought them air dried clay at Easter and they used that too. Dgs2 got a bit emotional when his mum came for him and didn't want to go but perked up when he was in the car.
I've had spaghetti carbonara with garlic bread then a warm pancake with vanilla ice cream and stewed apricots. I'm watching an old film about robin hood on Talking Pictures. In a while I'll do the dishes and that'll be the day done. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Thank you for the pictures Yia, I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine and it’s not too windy
We’re just back home from a walk by the river and a coffee in town, really busy as usual with lots of tourists. I know I shouldn’t but I find it interesting just people watching and eavesdropping in on their conversations!
It’s been showery this morning but the sun is out now so I’m going to go out in the garden soon. It’s looking a bit better since the rain so I’ll see what needs doing.
I like the sound of colourful Sammy Snail corner - any chance of a picture please ? 😀
I hope you’re doing ok today Doodle and taking it easy today
Take care all x

Hellogirl1 Sun 25-May-25 13:23:41

Hope you sleep well doodle. Recovery time now.

A happy, busy time ahead soop, I’m so pleased you’ll have family around you both.

We’ve heard our loft insulation will be installed next Friday which had me aloft this morning passing down the things on the ‘floor’ of the loft. I was mightily relieved I’d sorted so much up there and discarded a lot recently. Number one son is coming on Wednesday to deal with a couple of items that are beyond me, including a rug he’ll take with him. Another one bites the dust grin.

A very welcome lunch in our favourite spot followed before drifting to a couple of retailers looking for things to brighten the garden. I fell in love with a metal multi coloured snail, Mr C was horrified but humoured me. Sammy snail is a good size and has certainly brightened a corner where he sits on slate chippings looking regally along the garden. I know, no hope of elegance here!

A quiet day tomorrow, I’ll catch up on some admin and generally faff around. The opportunity will be very welcome.

Sleep well everyone, especially those facing challenges. Night, night.

brook2704 Sat 24-May-25 23:01:27

Doodle thank you for your update, I hope the pain eases soon and you sleep well tonight x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 24-May-25 22:31:21

Hello kitchen people,

Best wishes to so many of you having a hard time. Enjoy all your relatives Soop - I’ve got some of mine coming tomorrow.

I met my friend for lunch. The one who causes upsets in restaurants, sometimes. She was on her best behaviour. She is having serious family problems and I think was glad to talk about it. We had such a delicious lunch that all I had for dinner was a tiny piece of OH’s pizza.

I hope all is well with the FGT2S.

Sleep 💤 tight.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-May-25 21:57:20

Doodle rest and let your body heal 🌸

Usedtobeblonde Sat 24-May-25 21:53:28

Doodle the housework will still be there long after we have all gone, do it one day!! It’s there again the next.
Just get well again, it has been a difficult week for you.
Lots of you have had a difficult week and I am well aware and send kindest thoughts.

I have been out to a new Italian in our large village tonight with my friend across the road.
It was nice, very attentive staff, I hope they succeed, Thayer deserve it.

GS’s gone for a week, only 3 in the house tonight, 7 Iilast night.
Complaints of no hot water for late morning showers.

I am tucked up in bed, it is raining steadily, I hope it continues all night but stops before morning as it is a holiday and people have plans.
Take care and a good night from Stockport.

Doodle Sat 24-May-25 21:29:56

Thanks all for your good wishes. I am home now with a plate in my arm and a splint but it’s lighter than the cast I had before. Painful but tolerable. At least I’ve a good excuse to avoid the housework for a bit.
Love and hugs to all those going through troubling times

brook2704 Sat 24-May-25 21:22:45

Enjoy your family get together soop special times ❤️
We’ve also had some light rain here, no big downpours just a gentle drizzle. We spent the morning at DD2s helping with a few jobs and then home for a bit of gardening this afternoon. When it wasn’t raining it was warm and sunny and we got quite a bit done
Hope Mondays BBQ goes well Jax, there’s no bank holiday here, it’s just a normal day. The DGC here don’t get any half term break but DD1 & family in Cambridge are off on holiday to Croatia tomorrow
Well done with your exercises Blossoming
Thinking f everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-May-25 20:48:55

Dear soop I hope you enjoy your family visits next week, despite the sadness of your dear sister 🌸

Nannytopsy Sat 24-May-25 20:37:05

Have a wonderful time next week soop! There’s nothing like some big lads to liven things up 🤣.

Redcar Sat 24-May-25 19:54:32

A busy week ahead for you soop, enjoy your time with family!
We had some rain last night and more is forecast overnight tonight and at times during the week. Hope it won’t spoil the half term week for everyone. DD2 is away, enjoying the sun and heat somewhere. DD1 and family will be in London for a couple of days, seeing some of the sights and museums. I’ll be keeping the dog company!
Enjoy the bbq on Monday jax I hope the rain stays away.
A major panic today as my friend knocked to say he’d lost his door keys. He’d had to go out, leaving his wife (dementia friend)in the house alone. Luckily I had a spare set of keys so he was able to get in. I sat with my friend while he retraced his journey, looking for the keys. He found them outside a shop! Panic over, bless him.
I did another 20 minutes gardening, cutting back some of my neighbour’s shrubs which are invading my garden. I can’t reach all of them, so son in law may have to help.

Have a peaceful evening everyone. Night night.

TillyTrotter Sat 24-May-25 19:29:54

soop there is lots going on for you and
mrsoop and it will help you get through. Life is so full of ups and downs and we just have to weather it. No one knows that better than you 💐

Jaxjacky Sat 24-May-25 18:28:34

Hi all, exciting visits soop how lovely having them to look forward to.
A lazy day here, gentle housework, reading the paper and watering, we’ve had spots of rain, no good for anything, hoping for something decent overnight.
Tomorrow will be busier, we have family here on Monday for a bbq - ever the optimist for the weather 😏 - farm shop to visit, bathrooms to clean and garden chairs to de cobweb.
Thinking of Doodle, FGT and himself, hoping utbb hasn’t felt the need to hide herself away 🌹

Blossoming Sat 24-May-25 18:28:10

Enjoy your family visits Soop, hope you and Mr. Soop are doing well, buggerations notwithstanding x

soop Sat 24-May-25 18:05:50

It gladdens my heart to see that you lovely lot are enjoying the new kitchen. Fondest love to you all, especially those of you with problems of whatever kind to bear.

It is super-hectic here. The family is preparing for my dear sister's funeral. We have a link which will permit us to attend on-line. The funeral is to take place mid-June.

We have family visiting us next week. On one day, Mr Soop's Australian nieces and a partner will make a special visit as part of their "grand tour". Flying from Glasgow to Campeltown to have lunch with us. Special jobs aboot the hoos are being gradually ticked off! hmm

London-based family will be here for a full week. Meals out. suits we two fine! I am busy wrapping the gifts for "the boys". They will add their special brand of fun and nonsense to the gatherings. grin

A spattering of rain. Midges outnumber humans by several thousand to one.

Enjoy each other's company. I shall pop into our kitchen for brief updates. Bless you ALL.

Blossoming Sat 24-May-25 17:38:40

Good evening Kitchen friends. We have had a lot of rain, starting last night some time. This has meant that the steam engines can run now the fire risk is over. No walk today as it’s also very windy and even though we’ve had some sunny intervals the damp slippery pavements are a hazard. I’ve been working on my physio exercises indoors and my muscles are complaining now! At least I can feel them smile
Hope Doodle is doing well, also thinking of FGT2 and her DH. Hope your back is feeling better too Jax.

Nannytopsy Sat 24-May-25 12:38:27

We have had some rain- huzzah! - but need some more. I wish it wasn’t so cold though. We ran a village quiz last night and made just over £200. Well, if the 3 non payers cough up …! It’s for charity - why not pay??
