Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

My newly chopped hair feels so much lighter and cooler. The mobile hairdresser is a lovely lady and lives quite near here. I’ll definitely use her again. We had an enjoyable walk down to the river yesterday afternoon, I am getting quite nifty with the tri walker. I hemmed and hawed about getting one and I’m glad I did, it’s brought more freedom and more quality of life.

Enjoy your trip into town Ashcombe, something I can only dream of just now grin.

Hope your eye soon clears up Sar53

That sounds a big job GG13 but will be worth it in the end.

Will keep my fingers crossed for a good scan result FGT2

Have a good time Marydoll, I’m looking forward to hearing about your purchases grin

Greyduster that sounds like a lovely day out.

Thank you all for sharing your walks, visits and quiet moments, it’s like friends dropping in.

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

Wishing everyone a happy Friday 🌹♥️

Good morning all from a chilly Angus coast where I have given in and put the heating on.
I love the description you paint of your country walks RosesandLilac - perfect word pictures. And I chuckled when you said you noticed that the priests had all aged Marydoll and that you realised you must have done too! How many of us have experienced that! I remember being back in my home town after a few years living overseas and bumping into an old schoolfriend and thinking how she looked so much older, and then popping into the butchers - he was only a couple of years older than me and yet he had aged too. And then 'ping' and I realised that to them I must have done too! A sobering moment. (We were all mid-30s at the time.)
Yesterday's visit to the dental hygienist was as uneventful as usual - except that during it there was much shock and surprise from the hygienist and nurse that it was raining!! And sure enough when I was released from custody I found the streets running with water. No doubt there will be too much of the stuff soon 😉.
I'm not sure what I shall do with today. The covid jab on Tuesday left me with extreme tiredness and wooziness and the latter is still with me, so maybe it's a case of 'slow and steady' and read a book.
My thoughts join all the others with the FGTs 🫂 at this hard time. And has anyone heard from Madeleine?

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 23-May-25 09:20:18

FGT2S thinking of you both. 🪻🪻🪻

Morning from South Lanarkshire, sunny at the moment.

I’m off to the hairdresser soon, I was supposed to be going away this weekend but it’s been postponed till the middle of June but I need a good trim so am keeping the appointment.

A calm day morning yesterday until I got a communication from the bank saying I might need to act urgently which put me in what turned out to be an unnecessary panic. I’m obviously pleased that everything was okay but I don’t deal well with these agitating situations any more and it took me ages to sort out. I suddenly remembered my little son saying to me “Calmy down mummy” which was a nice moment.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grammaretto Fri 23-May-25 09:01:53

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny but rather chilly.
I tried to drink my tea outside but had to come in!
An arboreal assessment of my garden will happen this morning, in the part where I am hoping to build a house.

I shall be at work which is a pity as I would like to be here.

Later I want to go into Edinburgh for an exhibition at the King's gallery.

MyDS has just proudly told me that DGS1 has won 3 senior school prizes. I only wish DH and all his other GPs and GGPs were here to share the news.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Best wishes to those bridesmaids granto3

Good morning from bright and sunny South Lanarkshire.

Thanks for the good wishes yesterday. My talk was well received I’m happy to say. I was a bit nervous starting off but I found my voice. The organiser messaged me later to tell me that many people had told her afterwards how powerful and affecting it had been. Coincidentally my sudden illness came on exactly three years ago yesterday.

I’m on the hunt for geraniums today Kalu, I think the weather is set to change tomorrow after this amazing run of unbroken sunshine so we will get some of the pots planted up.

Enjoy the exhibition MD.

Thinking of you both FGT.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Am awaiting the arrival of scaffolders in preparation for the installation of fourteen solar panels next week. After this morning’s news of a fire thought to be caused by such panels at the local maternity hospital I am wondering if I have made the right decision!

Still waiting for the car to be collected after my mishap earlier in the week and am wondering if I can risk a supermarket trip as the damage appears to be only cosmetic. Starvation beckons otherwise though it probably wouldn’t hurt me.

Jaxjacky Fri 23-May-25 08:41:42

Morning Mick and all from a sunny S Hants, due to cloud over later.
Brilliant Ash the world is yours again.
Enjoy the wedding gran2
I’ve given apologies for today’s stretch class, my back is still niggling, so gently does it, MrJ will help with the last of the annual planting.
Tesco due this afternoon, pub tonight - which has had a break in at 4:30 this morning, all caught on CCTV.
Wishing those under the weather a better day and holiday makers the best time.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Yesterday was bright but the wind was chilly.
My friend and I are going out for lunch, I think it must be six weeks since I last saw her.
My sister and BIL are off to Scotland on holiday so I will not be seeing them for a few weeks.
Thoughts are with FGTs.
Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Fri 23-May-25 08:25:34

Good morning all and it feels a bit warmer than yesterday here in Essex. The heating came on in the afternoon 😳.

Today we have the speech therapist at 11 and then our Friday friends are coming here for drinks and a light lunch. It will be nice to see them after all these weeks.

GG I hope you’re feeling better 🙏 and the house ‘stuff’ goes well.
And Sar that your eye will heal quickly.🙏

It’s good to hear you’re out and about Ash and Marydoll

Your walks sound so lovely RosesandLilac. I’m missing our countryside walks, and of course our seaside wanders.

Best wishes to FGT ‘s 🙏.

I hope all your days are gentle ones. 🪴

hollysteers Fri 23-May-25 08:25:31

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Arrived back from Greece yesterday and DD left for the south in the afternoon. She mucked in with various little jobs before she left and I was pleased to find my hanging basket had survived the dry weather. I put my overwintering geraniums in my front window flower boxes and unpacked. A nice sunny drying day today.

Art group this morning and then a quiet day beckons.
Thoughts to all🌺

Grandmabatty Fri 23-May-25 08:13:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. Rain is forecast for later today. Susan safe journey to see your mum. Ash onwards and upwards! Marydoll definitely heartwarming to know how much you are valued.
Yesterday I got the washing done, hung out then ironed and put away. I washed the bathroom floor too and even cleaned some of the kitchen cupboard doors which have been bothering me. My neighbour put out my bin for me.
Today I have a friend coming for afternoon coffee and cake. It'll be nice to see her as I haven't seen her for ages. She's having similar issues with her brother and very elderly parents,so I expect I'll be listening and nodding a lot. Salad for dinner. Have a good day all

GrannyIvy Fri 23-May-25 08:03:59

Good morning from the Algarve. Yesterday was 28 degrees and today looking the same. No real plans just take the day as it comes. DD2 and the little ones are arriving this evening.

Hope everyone has a good day and thinking of all those who are going through difficult times.

EkwaNimitee Fri 23-May-25 07:58:18

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we have a lot of cloud about again but no sign of rain yet.

Yesterday morning was quite busy but I came over wobbly by lunchtime presumably with a threatening infection. I could do nothing but sit about all afternoon so I gave in and read my book. I've no idea what started it off but bad acid indigestion kicked off by bedtime so it was a bad night's sleep propped up on pillows. Still awake early though!

Today I think a stroll through the park ought to be attempted but I'll see what I feel like as the morning goes on.
There are all sorts of jobs I could do but I think I'll settle on researching holidays, I need to get going with a future trip to OZ. I'm saving my pennies to go business class this time in the hopes that my aging body will cope better with the dreaded jet lag.

Right, I'm off to pray to the rain gods who seem to be concentrating their attention on Australia at the moment so DS2 tells me!

Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Fri 23-May-25 07:52:53

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire where I am properly able to hear for the first time in ages, a ton of wax having been safely removed yesterday.
I am off with DD to the Botanical Gardens today, with a detour to a nearby art exhibition, and then this evening we are out for an early dinner at a lovely Thai restaurant. A lot of walking will be required today but as DD said “You’re good for it, Mum!” Glad she thinks so! She’s the one who’ll have to carry me home if I’m not!
Have the best day you can folks.

monk08 Fri 23-May-25 07:52:11

Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is breaking through.
Shopping today and call in on a friend who has just been told he has prostate cancer, a routine blood test picked it up he had no signs unfortunately it has progressed to his bones.
Thinking of everyone with struggles and worries, have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans☀️.

BlueSapphire Fri 23-May-25 07:50:22

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, should stay.fine all day. Got home from DD's yesterday mid-morning, and it was so cold I put the heating on!

Did very little yesterday except read, and cooked sweet chilli chicken thighs for dinner and also a spicy pilau rice - I cooked double of that so I have rice ready to go with my keema curry tonight.

Dance classes this morning, then, depending how I feel, may walk to the shops for a top-up shop before returning home on the bus. As it's been about six weeks since dancing last time, I will only do two classes instead of three.....

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Liberty Fri 23-May-25 07:49:26

Good morning from sunny Suffolk. DH and I are off to the Ivy in Norwich for breakfast c/o a voucher DD1 gave us some time ago. We were attending a concert one evening and thinking about staying overnight when DD sent us the voucher. We decided against it in the event but we will enjoy the voucher today.

Thinking of the FGTs and their visit to the Christie and hope that the wait for the scan results is not too worrying.

Hope the weekend is a pleasant one for all and those with health issues find some relief.

Marydoll Fri 23-May-25 07:39:37

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

I know what you mean, Ash. Glad you made it out and about.

Today DD and I are off to the Ideal Home show, we have managed to get free tickets. We have made no plans for lunch or what we will do after, just going with the flow, depending how I feel. DH will drive me to the station and two connecting trains will get me there, so not much walking involved!
I have had a stern word with myself, not to come back with useless gadgets. 😉
We plan to celebrate DD's new job. After being made redundant from her job of twenty years and being unemployed since Christmas, she was offered a job in the Civil Service yesterday.

Yesterday was full, on, but BabyD was delightful.
(Well most of the time.)
DS looked worried when her arrived with her. His FIL, who helps with childminding, had a silent heart attack in London the other day.
The day after he got home, he went for an eight mile walk, oblivious to the fact he had suffered a heart attack,
He is now in Coronary Care.
What a lucky man he is!

We had a laugh in the chemist, when the pharmacist warned me not to sunbathe, nor use tanning salons, while using the medication for the lesions.
I never did that in the first place, fat lot of good being careful did me!

When I arrived at the Safeguarding meeting, I saw someone beckoning me. It was my long lost sister in law, whom we haven't seen for ages.
She falls out with people on a regular basis and harbours grudges for years.
Despite having helped look after her late husband on a daily basis, she ditched us when he died.
None of us received a Christmas card last year and neither a birthday nor Christmas gift for Dollie, when she and my BIL previously spoiled her.
We have absolutely no idea, what we have done this time!
The strangest thing was that she behaved as if nothing had happened.

As I entered the meeting, the Bishop and Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor were at the door greeting everyone. The Advisor said to Bishop, I know I should not have favourites, but this is my favourite Diocesan Safeguarding Co-ordintor, and proceeded to give me the warmest embrace.
Another co-ordinator came in and also hugged me, wishing me a happy birthday.
Little gestures like this are just what I need in my present fragile state.
Many of our former parish priests were there and I was shocked at how much they had aged.
Then I remembered, I am also elderly and must have looked old to them!🤣

Best wishes to all and hoping Baubles, your day went well yesterday.
GM, enjoy your lunch!

Have a good day folks, whatever your plans.

ginny Fri 23-May-25 07:37:42

Good morning from a currently sunny N. Bucks.
I have a manicure and pedicure appointment at 9 this morning. A quick visit to buy some picnic items afterwards.
Tomorrow we set off for a family week in Shropshire. 10 of us aged 4 to 93. So, packing this afternoon.

Wishing you all a good day.

brook2704 Fri 23-May-25 07:31:42

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another lovely sunny start to the day, no rain forecast until tomorrow
Hope you get your eye better soon Sar53
It was good to see the DGC yesterday, DGD was chatty as usual, DGS not so much. He seemed happy enough though and had lots to eat. I’m off to the gym this morning for a dance class and then coffee at the botanical gardens with my pal.
Hope the ants are gone for good now Roses, we sometimes get them outside
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

NannyJan53 Fri 23-May-25 07:22:23

Crossed posts! Thinking of you both today FGT

luluaugust Fri 23-May-25 07:21:25

Good morning from W Kent where the sun is out but the heating has come on. DH is taking the car off for a service this morning so I have no excuse left not to do the ironing.
Yesterday’s art meeting was rather subdued as one of our gentleman has now been diagnosed with dementia, his wife also attends and said it is progressing rapidly. We have all known one another a long time.
Best wishes to all

NannyJan53 Fri 23-May-25 07:21:09

Good morning from a bright but cooler Black Country.

6 mile walk yesterday and a coffee at a Garden Centre cafe. There were a few new faces this week.

Today I am meeting DGD2 (16) at around 1pm after she finishes college. Then we will have lunch in town. Back to my house where I will collect my clothes and drive over to her house. DD and DS are off to The Netherlands till Tuesday so I will be staying with the DGD's.

Then taking eldest at 5pm to her job waiting in a pub. So will take out 14 year old for a bite to eat in the village.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Redcar Fri 23-May-25 07:16:23

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s sunny, dry and cool. The heating came on briefly this morning, so it was obviously a cold night.
My next door neighbour watered some of my front garden yesterday evening, which was kind of him.
Yesterday I did a little weeding when I got home from DD1s. The weeds spring up overnight and don’t seem to need rain!
ash enjoy your bus trip to town today, another achievement!

I must collect my meds this morning, then I have an Ocado delivery. A hair appointment this afternoon completes my day!

sar53 I hope your eye infection improves quickly.
grannygravy I hope the builders can get the problems with the joists fixed quickly and certainly in time for Christmas!

Thinking of all those struggling in any way.
