I've had that pleasant experience in a Costa too, Ash, when my arm was in a sling. Warms the heart 🙂

Good Morning Saturday 24th May 2025
(42 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Have woken up to a grey and wets start here in brackley.
My usual routine with a bus trip to Bicester , chat to those I know.
return , Lunch followed by the cycling on TV this afternoon .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick
Sar53 oh dear, sorry to hear of your eye problem, how on earth did you manage to tear it?
I hope the soreness and blurring eases off soon, a perfect excuse to do nothing today other than rest 😘
Good morning from a brightening northwest coast after much needed rain.
Art group yesterday, took stuff to the charity shop and still have some remnants of unpacking to do.
DS came over and took out a small tree at the side of the house which was affecting the wall and mentioned to me by my neighbour. He also fixed the magnetic closure on my bathroom cabinet mirrored door. He’s very handy and I’m grateful for it.
I’m tired after my holiday (need a holiday after the holiday..) and think the abscessed tooth extraction/antibiotics etc took it out of me. I’ve started watching the Durrells in Corfu and it’s extending my holiday as it were with the beautiful scenery seen again.
Thoughts to Bellasnana and Susan💐
My thoughts are with you today Bellasnana. 💐
Sar ouch! Definitely take things easy today
Good morning everyone from an overcast and cloudy; it looks as though we have had rain, but how much I have no idea. A dry day forecast, rain forecast again overnight.
So many posting so early before me! I dozed.until 8.15, pottered around and have not long sat down with my tea and ginger biscuit. Checked the weather forecast on the app, and then my emails. Listening to Tony Blackburn on i-Player.
Really enjoyed my ballet class yesterday morning; I ended up doing only one class (instead of three). Was good to see everyone again after a six week break.
I then had a gentle 20 minute walk to the shops, coffee and a snack in M&S food, then did my bit of shopping. Sainsbury's next where I changed the Turkish lira I didn't spend on my cruise.
Home on the bus, and spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden with the cats and my Patricia Highsmith thriller - am now on the third Ripley book.
A big day today for my rugby team, Northampton Saints; we are playing in the European Cup Final this afternoon, so will be glued to BBC i-Player. The match is in Cardiff, and coach loads of fans are going from here, but was a bit nervous of going on my own. (DD and her DH are away on holiday.) Come on you Saints! 💛💚💛💚
Thinking of you today Bellasnana. 💐💐
Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. It has been raining steadily for hours and everywhere is looking green and fresh. We have a lot of trees around here and they were starting to droop,
We had another enjoyable walk down to the river yesterday afternoon while it was still warm and sunny. I doubt we’ll be going out today. I don’t mind the rain but the slippery wet pavements are a hazard.
That must have been a shock for you Susan. My own mother died very suddenly, I think it may have been a blessing though it was a shock at the time. She had no slow decline.

Anniversaries are hard, taking him some flowers is a lovely idea.
Thank you for the beautiful photos Greyduster.
Sorry you’re feeling rotten Marydoll but glad you enjoyed the exhibition and hope today goes better than expected.
Don’t be tempted to overdo it while you’re feeling better Jax, been there and got the tee-shirt!
Definitely have a rest day Sar, give your eye time to recover.
As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.
Wishing everyone a happy Friday 🌹♥️
Good morning from a damp W Kent. A quiet weekend ahead here with a visit to the farm butchers planned for today. Both DGD’s reported their A level exams had gone well, a few more still to go. Our near neighbours who are Sikh celebrated their daughter’s wedding yesterday afternoon which was very colourful, their garden was beautifully decorated.
Susan
Bellasnana a difficult day for you
Best wishes
Good morning from the Essex coast where we have had rain during the night.
Yesterday was spent going between the doctor's surgery, then the opticians who then sent me to the eye hospital.
I have a small tear in the outer layer of my eye and there was a foreign body in it.
Eventually the doctor at the hospital managed to get it out with a tiny pair of tweezers.
My eye is very sore and very blurry from the cream I have to put in it four times a day.
We have no plans today so I think I will be resting.
I hope eveeyone has a good day, best wishes xx
Morning from a dull S Hants, it’s raining lightly.
Heartbreaking Susan 🥀
Yesterday, sun/cloud/wind was a quiet day after I collected bbq meat from the village butcher and Tesco delivered pm, we have family here Monday, the fridge is full.
Protecting my back, but with specific exercises seems to be working, I need to resist going mad as it improves.
Have a good day all, thoughts with those facing a difficult one.
🦩🦩
Morning from South Lanarkshire, pleasingly damp and still.
12 year old DGD arriving this afternoon to stay till Monday which I’m looking forward to, she is delightful company. She is arriving by car so I must call this morning and remind her we are going back on Monday by public transport, she tends to be a ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ packer!
If it’s dry this afternoon we can go for a walk and an ice cream before home made fish and chips, her absolute favourite.
A poignant day Bellasnana💐
I can envisage your garden Kalu, it sounds lovely.
Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend.
Good morning all from the Black country where we had rain overnight, had a little walk round the garden it's lovely and fresh.
Meeting friends at the club later haven't seen them for a few weeks so good to catch up.
Usual full English calling can't believe how quick these Saturdays keep rolling round.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later, hope all went well with the FGTs yesterday.
Have the best day you can everyone, virtual hugs where needed ☀️.
Good morning and I was happy to hear the rain when I woke, here in Essex .
Yesterday we had a nice time with our Friday friends.
Dd popped in after school drop off and she asked if there was anything she could do?
I set her the task of displaying the platter of finger food , thanks to M and S , for our drinks and nibbles and delicious it looked.
It went down well with my homemade sausage rolls, brownies and macaroons.
So a lovely relaxed time was spent chatting and laughing.
Dh was pleased to see them but was very tired when they left.
Today ds1 will take his dad to footie and I’ll have the afternoon to myself! 🤞.
Bellasnanna 💐
Susan 🫂.
Enjoy the weekend as best you can 🪴🌼
Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 13°C.
I have been awake for hours, the hacking cough is back.
DD and I spent such a lovely day together. We made a pact that we would not buy any unnecessary gadgets or items. We broke the pact at the very first stall. 😁 Much of our haul included food and drink, so that was O.K.
I purchased some craft beer for DH to try and was just saying to DD that I didn't think the bag was strong enough, when it burst, scattering the cans everywhere! I couldn't get down to pick them up and a kind lady, selling Prosecco, came rushing out of her stall with a carrier bag for me.
We ended up having a glass of Prosecco and chatting to her for ages.
She came from Elgin and my bridesmaid had been the Depute Head in her daughter's school. What a coincidence.
DD had spotted a beautiful blanket at half price and we told the stallholder, we would be back later. The gentlemen were of Indian descent, dressed in tartan , wearing turban and speaking the broadest Gl6aswegian accents. It was a bit surreal. They had a great sense of humour and DD and I were in stitches at the banter, especially when they thought I was DD's sister.🤣
I decided to buy a blanket too, then the card machine crashed and payments couldn't be taken.
DD ( who rarely carries cash) was determined to purchase the blanket, so I ended up raiding my secret cash stash to pay for the blankets! My purse was empty by the time I paid!
For about a year and a half, I have been looking for new furniture for our living room. Nothing has jumped out at us, but yesterday I found it and DH loves it too!!
However, wallpaper needs stripped and a new carpet laid first. I am dreading it!
My mouth was awful yesterday, seems to have got worse again, so we decided to forego a pub lunch. Instead we had a McDonald's, which surprisingly, I managed to eat most of.
We then had a glass of wine, before I got the
wrong train home.
DD has the Scotrail app on her phone, because platform numbers go up at the last minute and some trains are at the end of a long platform.
I waited at the platform for the train, to save me rushing. It arrived and I sat on the empty train. A young woman asked if this was the train for x and I said that I hoped so.
Five minutes later she kindly came back to tell me I was on the wrong train, my train was now in front of the train I was sitting in. 😱
DD was horrified, I did exactly the same thing on the same platform, the last time I was out with her. This is the woman, who used to travel all over Europe on trains, without any problems!
It is not safe to let me out on my own!😁
Today we are off to the theatre with DD, SIL, DS1 and DIL, a gift from DS2, who will look after Dollie.
To be honest, I am dreading it, ungrateful person that I am.
I'm am not feeling my best, but DS has spent a lot on the tickets.
Also he seats are quite high up and I know I will struggle.
Susan, so sad to read about your mother and Bella 💐
GM enjoy your breakfast meeting!
Have a good day folks.
I have the parish bulletin to send out, update the website and organise a Disclosure application, before I go out. I long for a quiet day, but I only have myself to blame.
Good morning from Suffolk where we have rain, the first for what seems like several weeks. There also seems to have been a substantial increase in the number of muntjacs around here and there is usually one in the garden around this time in the morning. There is now and the sight of it drives the dog to distraction.
We had an excellent breakfast yesterday at the Norwich Ivy and an easy journey both ways. Recently rather than driving to the Park and Ride where the bus service into the city seems to have deteriorated we drive to the nearest town, leave the car there and get the fast bus into the centre of Norwich .
We have no plans for this weekend as we never do for bank holidays. DS and family are coming for lunch on Monday which we are all looking forward to.
I hope all have the best day possible especially those unwell or with worries in their lives.
Scaffolders were very efficient yesterday so we are ready for the solar panels on Tuesday, weather permitting I should imagine. An early supermarket shop with a friend as I am not risking the car which will be collected on Tuesday - it is almost certainly safe to drive but I am not certain. Life without is certainly tricky but tells me what the future will look like.
Overnight rain has cheered up the garden and I am looking forward to the arrival later of DS, DDiL and well behaved dog though only overnight. Think DS needs to reassure himself that I am fit to live alone so think I must repark the car so the damage isn’t obvious!
Good morning from s somerset, a smidgen of rain before midnight, my weather station says none since, cooler today
Allotment yesterday and I am getting on very well with my allotment neighbour, she is new to the plot and to gardening. I spent another 4 hours there, away from the madding crowd.
Home for lunch and I finished my skirt, putting 8 poppers on before bed. I don`t like the style on me at all and as it is a toile from fabric which I also don`t like, it is going. I enjoyed the process of making it
The new hemming tool worked fantastically, the bias viscose dropped between 4" and 1" around the skirt and the tool was very easy to use by myself. Hem was excellent
Today I am wardrobe culling, I am in the right frame of mind to do that and am going to be very fussy about any viscose toiles that I made. Notes will be made and patterns also discarded if needed
Have a good day
Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.
I am meeting a friend for lunch - the one who can be difficult in restaurants. We haven’t met up since before Christmas so it should be interesting.
I’ll pop into Waitrose on the way home afterwards. Elder son and his family are coming tomorrow and I am short of provisions. They all have healthy appetites! Our granddaughter will be staying here on her own for the first time until Tuesday.
A photo of purple flowers in my garden!
Have a good day especially those with difficulties.
Good morning from north Manchester. It’s rained overnight and our familiar grey skies are here. The lawn looks brighter already. Thinking of FGT and Mr FGT
🌷💐🌷 to bellasnana, susan, fgt and anyone else that I might have missed.
Good Mornimg from Cyprus. Last day here and we fly home tonight.
It’s been a ‘different’ week, but pales into insignificance when measured against what others are going through.
💐 and hugs to those who need and deserve them.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where there's been rain at long last. I had to go outside to breathe the fresh air.
I'm on soup duty at the community café today so I have all the ingredients ready but we have to cook in the dreadful town hall kitchen
prehistoric .
My df from Belfast is coming to see me today.
Yesterday I had a good catchup with the person who wants to buy my house. I also had a tree survey done on my building site.
where I'd like to build a new house
I then spent the afternoon in Edinburgh and saw an exhibition before my free ticket expires!
Thinking of you Bellasnanna and Susan.
Beautiful photos Greyduster
Have a good weekend everyone, whatever your plans.
It’s rather grey here, I think we have showers forecasted for today.
A day pottering and list making ahead.
Thinking of FGT2and himself 😘
Bellasnanna (((hugs)))
Good morning everyone from Inverness, we’ve had some light rain overnight and we’ve more grey clouds this morning
So upsetting Susan56 gentle hugs ❤️
Yesterday turned out much busier than planned as DD2 was delayed getting home so asked if we could we go round to look after the DGC after school. That was fine but we ended up being there most of the evening helping out with a few diy jobs etc. We’re back there again today, DH is putting up some blinds and shelves in the garage and I’ll be in charge of the kettle and biscuits
Bellasnanna 💐
Have a lovely breakfast at home with your friend grandmabatty it sounds so yummy!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning everyone from a grey, wet and mild mid Essex. The rain is very welcome but should clear later.
Yesterday I walked to the local pharmacy, then on to the village shops for a few things, then home. I was hot and tired when I got home. My hairdresser came in the afternoon so my hair is tidy now.
I’m hoping to be able to do some gardening later, my neighbour has some very large shrubs which now extend about 4 feet into and over my garden and my own plants are being squashed. An attack with the loppers is required!
ash well done for your bus trip another step back to normality!
susan it must have been very disturbing for you to see the deterioration in your mum, has the home been able to shed any light on the change?
bellasnana
.
kalu I hope you are able to sort out your email problem with BT!
