Anyone Having Problems With Small Moths ?

Tiny clothes moths are driving me bonkers! They seem to like perching on white coloured items like bedroom walls and even found their way into a closed cupboard of wine glasses.

The lavender bags alone don't seem to stop them and I've had to invest in those moth killer things with hooks. Don't fancy using the knock down sprays because of the chemicals, but I'll probably get desperate soon so.......

The moths I'm getting are exactly the same. They go on the white walls . I don't want to use sprays has I have pets . Horrible little things.

I have had a big with moths, which has persisted for several years now. Coats and probably 20 sweaters/knitted dresses lost over time. Everything item of clothing I care about is in a bag now.
I change the pheromone traps every 8/10 weeks (1 buy the sticky pads in bulk from this company which is much cheaper than Lakeland etc pest-expert.com/) These are not really traps in the sense of controlling the population - they catch moths which helps you know when they are active. This year I have tried letting off the spray 'bomb' type things in every room. I won't know for a while whther this has really made a difference.
I've used the spray extensively on carpets, but there are large chewed away patches in most rooms, with little holes too. Its just not possible to move all of the furniture regularly - and anyway, they eat carpet in exposed regularly hoovered areas.
I don't know what the answer is......but scented sprays from Clothes Doctor and lavender bags etc do seem to help - even if its just me they are working on with the calming smell!!

We used to have them in our last place, I think that they are often a problem in old houses. Nothing much worked though we sprayed and put out the sticky traps. They used to be particularly keen on going underneath things, and on nibbling the edges of carpet, particularly rugs. Now we've moved we have hard floors everywhere and, though we see the occasional moth, we've had no real problems.
I also keep clothes that I don't wear very often in sealed hanging bags as I lost my two favourite winter coats and several lovely jumper.

There was an article in the news recently about a very wealthy couple in London who purchased a big, posh house from a couple who failed to declare that their house had a massive moth problem.

When the new buyers moved in there were moths in every room. They won the case.

Cor didn’t know that.
They are almost as annoying as silverfish and I can’t get rid of those - only one at a time .

Weren't moths amongst the earliest known creatures on earth?. They survived ice ages and will be here long after us.

I marvel whenever I see fabric which has survived from previous centuries. Not much does. The National Trust house near Musselburgh Newhailes was closed for moth removal for a year or so. They made an informative video on moth removal which you can still see.

It's amazing. I hoover in detail then spray and open anew moth trap and next morning there are lots of moths in them. Can't understand how they survive the onslaught.

They are so persistent aren't they!
I have to bag up nearly all my clothes or pop them in the freezer.
Carpets, which I haven't already thrown out, are threadbare.
If I ever buy carpets again they'll have you be plastic artificial fibre.

I replace the hormone traps quite often and hang them in my wardrobe.
They work but u still see the occasional tiny moth in unlikely places. I've even found them inside cups which aren't often used.

I bought insecticide spray from Amazon to treat the moth infestation in my carpets. Hoovered thoroughly, especially all the nooks and crannies I could reach.
I also bought some sticky moth traps, which lure the male moth to its doom.
It solved the problem

Yes but worse last Spring than this.
I bought little voile bags, filled with fresh lavender heads from a Lavender farm in Kent, along with small bottles of concentrated Lavender, Cedar & Rosemary anti Moth oil.
I hung them on every window catch, and in wardrobes on hangers and added drops of the oil to the bags every week.
It seems to have done the trick and they smell lovely - deterring tiny moths coming in - until the Summer when they are no longer troublesome.

Two summers ago we kept finding tiny insects on our indoor window sills, with stripes on their backs.Turned out they were carpet beetles. We spray, hoovered like mad with crevice tools, hung bunches of lavender in wardrobes etc.

I think I asked this question about a year ago and someone suggested I might have carpet moths. I bought a carpet moth spray from Lakeland. You spray all round once and then you spray again I think 30 days later. I did do the 2nd spray but they all seemed to disappear after the first one.

Might be worth a try?
