Well, we got a bit bruised and battered on the Kent Coat. The lightning was so constant at around 11pm it was like sitting in the daylight. I lost my electric for just a few minutes and my Sky signal for an hour or so.

Some of my flowering shrubs are crushed and sad looking, but compared to others around here I was lucky. Just down the road from me a chap was having to sit on his car roof and wait to be rescued.

Probably one of the most violent and dramatic storms I've ever seen anywhere.

All looks calm this morning, long may it continue!

Sadly here in S Hampshire not a peep, could’ve done with the rain. Significant storms in Françe overnight too with considerable damage.
As long as everyone is safe.

None here, I was looking forward to it. It’s very muggy.

Here on the East Suffolk coast was the same ferry23.
My son sat up and watched it but remarkably his family including their dog, who are here for the weekend slept through it all; as did my husband!
I think it went on for over an hour! Very heavy rain too.
Still muggy this morning though and going to be sunny and hot this afternoon.

Yes, here in East Kent several homes and businesses are flooded.

Not much thunder and lightning here in mid Essex, but some rain and another heavy shower this morning. Brighter now.

No thunder and lightning here in North Devon but torrential rain for two days this week…

Very heavy rain for hours last night here in North Wales but didn't hear any thunder.

Nothing in this part of Gloucestershire. Muggy and rolling thunder but no excitement,

It came in from across the channel and made it's way up the south/south east coast, petering out as it went on. I know it went inland a bit but it was the coast that took the main battering.

Sun's out now and still hot and muggy.

Yes I sent it up your way mamaa grin

I was all prepared for a noisy, rainy evening but I don't know if we even got any rain. No sign of it (Surrey). Didn't hear any thunder but I could have slept through it if it wasn't overhead.

Nothing here in the North East last night. (near Durham).
There was a brief, heavy shower about half an hour ago, but it’s bright and sunny now. Quite windy too, so I’ll hang out DD2’s towels.

We've had a week of military exercises here on the French coast - several thousand military personnel, including The Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. (???) So I didn't take much notice of the rumblings yesterday afternoon. Then suddenly came the lightening and loud thunder, followed by hailstones and gusts. Quite spectacular.

Torrential rain through the night in Central Scotland. It didn’t stop raining until just after 1pm. Thunder and lightning about 11.45 also. Hope everyone is safe.

We have missed these storms. We really could do with rain, the ground is very dry. I was planting plants today, and the soil was very dry. We really need more rainfall here - our region has been declared drought status and although as yet there are no hosepipe bans, I can see that soon they will be in place unless we get some significant rainfall.
I feel for the poor souls who have been flooded. We seem to lurch from one extreme to the other now. (Climate change, of course, and very worrying).

Huge one here last night but I slept soundly through all of it ….how I can’t imagine, having seen photos and videos of it today, look like a real cracker in all sense of the words my daughter says it was the worst she’d heard for a long time

I watched the storms and lightening on the Real Time Lightening Map www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=0.00;ts=0;z=6;y=53.7682;x=2.1643;d=2;dl=2;dc=0; . That is as close as I got to the storms. Neither rain nor thunder in South Oxfordshire.

Here in Lancashire, we woke up this morning to find our garage flooded. This even though we have a drain about a foot in front of the garage door and sandbags inside it.
