Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Started with a mist which is supposed to clear.
The girl who's on the rota for Saturday café has just texted an excuse but unusually I can't step in as I'm meeting my friend from the North at a midsummer fair and then have theatre tickets for a matinée.
I hope the other backups are less flaky.

Yesterday my nice young man and I took 10 crates of books to Peebles for the Autumn book fair. I think they are rapidly running out of storage.

Then it was time for an icecream. I was feeling faint in the heat. It was 29° - a rarity here.

I am so sorry to hear you are sick and can't enjoy your lovely family at the moment Marydoll
Let someone else see to the pc! You just concentrate on getting well.

Happy Solstice birthday Sar what a nice time to have a birthday.

Hopefully that train debacle will sound funny in retrospect Ash. I hope you complain vigorously!

Have a happy day today.

Morning all from a hot North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today thankfully. But DGS3 finished his A levels yesterday, had his prom and is now off to Spain for a week with his mates.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a hot, humid corner of Somerset.

Another indoor day for me. I’ll remove some dust and then do not a lot other than arrange some salad on plates.

Have the best day you can everyone

You are such a strong woman. Black dog days and estrangement sometimes make me wonder what it’s all about. Then I spend time with my fabulous youngest son and my strength is regained. Hugs. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Jun-25 08:01:25

Happy birthday to you Sar. Have a lovely day. Llfl I tried felting once. It wasn't a success as I kept jabbing my fingers!

whywhywhy Sat 21-Jun-25 07:58:03

Good morning from a sunny snd warm midlands. It’s the longest day.
We had a “day” out yesterday.
Car broke down and had to call the AA out. Waited three hours in that baking sun. Glad to get home last night. Staying in today.
Hugs to all suffering.
Xx

Happy birthday Sar
Great to see all the lovely craft work and sewing.

ginny Sat 21-Jun-25 07:49:05

Good morning from N.Bucks.

Love the fabric Karmalady.

Smallest DGS (4) loves unicorns and was given a sewing kit to make one. He asked me if I could do it for him as the instructions said 8+. Well, I made it but, there must be some very clever 8 year olds around around ! The head alone had 8 pieces. I delivered it yesterday an he was very pleased.

DH is off to a work reunion later today and will be home tomorrow after. I shall ndulge in some craft / art work and find myself a treat for dinner.

Wishing all a good day especially those who are poorly or troubled.

brook2704 Sat 21-Jun-25 07:48:51

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s light grey cloud and very warm
Lovely to hear from you Marydoll but so sorry to hear you’re so unwell 💐
We’ve nothing planned yet for today but will see how the day unfolds, there’s lots to keep me busy
What a hassle with the trains Ash pleased you got sorted though and arrived safely, enjoy the show this evening
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings💐

Sar53 Sat 21-Jun-25 07:46:35

Good morning from the Essex
It's my birthday today and lots of lovely weather too.
DH and I are going out this evening to a local restaurant, well a train ride away.
I'm sorry to hear that you are so unwell Marydoll flowers.
Have a lovely day everyone, best wishes to all xx

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It is warm already but rain is forecast.

The felting thing was fun yesterday. I had never heard of it before. Most people made sheep but me and a couple of others went off piste.

I will probably stay in again today or sit in the garden.

My friend’s husband who had a massive stroke a week ago is still in hospital. I heard the other day that a work colleague - the same age as me - had died. She had Alzheimer’s. Sadly I can’t go to the funeral as I’ll be on holiday.

I’m so sorry you’re unwell MaryD. I’m thinking of you and the FGT2S too.

Have a good day.

Good morning from a bright, sunny W Kent. An early visit to the farm shop and then reading in the garden for me. I have a Mary Stewart on the go, I haven’t read her books for decades and am enjoying the trip down memory lane!
Happy catch up with art friend yesterday and fingers crossed that life will be kinder to her from now on.
So sorry to read you are feeling so unwell Marydoll I hope you can get your pc sorted out somehow
Best wishes to all

Good morning g all and I’m gearing up for another hot one here in Essex. It doesn’t suit me and I feel drained with no energy. 🥵

Yesterday I had a nap and woke up very cold. We had all the windows and doors open with sudden fresh breeze coming in.
How strange!

My friend came to help with the LPOA. What a dear she is, nothing any bother for her.
She’s coming back today with papers to sign.
She refuses payment, how can I treat her?

Today I will shop for our week away in our seaside cottage. We won’t have a car so I must think of all necessities. We can always order an online delivery of course. I’m so looking forward to the sea air.

Poor you Marydoll I do hope you get some respite!
How annoying for you Ash 🚞.

Take care everyone. Water, shade and fans at the ready. ☀️

Good morning from a very sunny Suffolk to which we returned last night from a wonderful 5 days in the Lake District. We stayed at a hotel whose gardens went down to the shore of Ullswater which, given this glorious weather, was perfect.

My car has been in the garage all week having the A/C regassed……at least I’m hoping that is all that needed doing, but since they haven’t contacted me,all should be ok. DH will take me down in a little while to pick it up.

I was delighted to see that,in spite of no watering, the several pots in the back yard, mainly containing roses, look fine and the dalia, droopy at 9pm ,after a watering can, looks good this morning.

It is my sister’s funeral next Monday so we are travelling north with DS next Sunday ,staying overnight and meeting DDs 1&2 there. A lovely but sad time together. I am giving the eulogy with my DB adding a few words and one of my nieces. I hope I can manage it without my voice trembling too much.

I’m sorry to read this morning,*MD*of your health struggles and hope you feel a bit stronger soon and also those others who are not feeling as well as they would like to be.

I shall be thinking of you all and hope to return next month on a more regular basis.

Good morning from mid Essex, dry warm and sunny. Today is expected to be the hottest day so far, so a day of not doing much.
Yesterday I walked to the pharmacy and collected my meds, then took a different route home to increase my steps for the day. Changed the bedding, washed and dried it. I’ll iron it this morning before it’s too hot.
No family visits today, DD2 is away with her family at Disney Paris, DD1s daughters both have sporty classes this morning and may go to the Pride events in the park later. They went to last year’s and had great fun but it may be a bit hot this time.

marydoll I’m so sorry you are so unwell at the moment, and hope you feel a little better today.
grandmabatty a busy day for you yesterday, take it easy today.
grandmattie the change of room for the coffee morning sounds very inconvenient, I hope you’re not too exhausted afterwards.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire.Another scorcher forecast🥵

I collected my new glasses yesterday and so far am really pleased with them.We then went to the children’s school fair. They had both done well at sports day, DGD in particular. The head teacher came over to congratulate her.She hadn’t expected to win races so it was even more exciting🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Today a quietish day.I say ish as we have DD1’s dog as they are off to Cornwall today.I am ready for my morning cuppa but not moving downstairs until the dog wakes up!

Marydoll, I am sorry you are still so unwell and hope you feel better as the day progresses🙏🏻

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

RosesandLilac Sat 21-Jun-25 07:08:18

Good morning everyone!
I’ve been out with the dogs and guess what? It rained. Quite heavily but we sheltered under a tree so didn’t get too damp.
It’s already 21° here in south Glos, very muggy. I’m well prepared with fans, drinks etc and planning to do very little today!
I did all the housework and washing yesterday, washed the floors and put the dogs’ beds in the washing machine.

My heart goes out to Marydoll and anyone feeling poorly, sad or upset, sending you all hugs and love 🫂

Good morning from hot s somerset

Dear MD we are with you, your invisible support. flowers

I am back from driving 12 miles to fill up with petrol at 5, glastonbury next week and there will be a steady build-up of traffic. It was bliss so early, not a car on the road. I drove straight to my allotment and did an hour up there, the bindweed is still teasing me but at least the squash plants, all 5, look very well

I finished my dress yesterday, grateful for the invention of fray check, that bottom v neck is very tricky with a loose weave fraying fabric. All pressed and neat, ready to wear. The sleeves go down to my elbow and the length on me is midi

I also made 8 long ballast bags for keeping raised bed net down, used very oily canvas, horribly greasy and I put a 1/4 of a bag of grit into 4. Taking them upstairs to sew the end was a feat, I am certainly getting enough exercise. I will be out to buy another bag of grit today for the other 4 plus a trip to recycling with the nasty weeds

I will definitely have to deep clean my sewing machine but will need to wait until the sun has moved away

I saw the statistics yesterday for heat related deaths during the past few days, 600 and mostly old. folk I had a long chat with my sister who is 72 about her and her dh not going out for their daily long walk, at least not during the afternoon. There are medical reasons for being cautious as we age

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 🌞 Northampton. Did not sleep well last night unusually for me, so am up earlier than normal. Have been wasting time playing Sudoku on my tablet.....

Had three enjoyable dance classes yesterday; learning two new tap routines, then our Silver Swans ballet class and lastly a barre ballet class. My dance teacher complimented me by saying I have very strong feet! A welcome cold drink followed at the village bakery over the road with a dancing friend.

Am planning on getting a very early bus into town to pick up my new sunglasses,.Then stopping for a shop at M&S Food on the way home. No further plans for today.

Sorry to read you are feeling so poorly Marydoll, hoping for better news soon.

Take it easy in the sun today, everyone.

Good morning from a very hot Crewe Travelodge.

Our journey went well yesterday until we changed trains at Stafford. Usually our connecting train to Crewe comes in on the same platform as the train from Torquay but it was on screen as Platform 3 so we trundled our luggage up in the lift across the bridge, down in another lift and on to Platform 3, only to hear the announcement that it would be going from 5, from whence we had just come. Grrh! By the time we got back there, the staff wouldn’t let us on the train as it was about to depart. A delayed Avanti train was due to leave from Platform 3 so they did radio through to staff on that platform to hold the train for us. What a palaver!

The day ended well as we met DS and his lady for a meal at a nearby pub and had a most convivial evening. Today we hope to go by train to Shrewsbury then back for DGD’s dance show early evening.

You are having a rotten time, Marydoll and the weather is tough on those with health issues.

Have a good weekend if you can. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
