Good Morning Sunday 29th June 2025

Good Morning from a still, sunny, warm Durham.
I’m late posting, as I was awaiting my ‘orders’ for the day.
I’m off to meet the DDs and DGSs at a farm attraction near Morpeth. I’ve been before, but not driven myself, so I’ll have to sat-nav it. I want to go independently, then I can leave when I want to and I’ll collect the last of DGS2’s holiday laundry on the way home.
Carpet/upholstery cleaner coming first thing tomorrow, so I need to empty as many bits and bobs as I can out of the family room when I get home.

Good morning all. A change of weather in Glasgow , the sun is out and the rain has stopped.

Not a lot happing here just keeping myself busy doing this and that but today looks like a promising day in the garden where there is always plenty to keep me occupied. The two new blueberry plants I potted up this year are growing like weeds.

Good morning from a now clouded over northwest coast.
I didn’t make it to the afternoon concert yesterday, I just felt too tired. My ‘holiday’ seems to have taken it out of me and I carried on hanging washing outside etc. Enjoyed time reading in the garden.

I’ll try and be more proactive today, practise some songs and carry on with some decluttering.

Yesterday was a day of rest, lots of water and a little paracetamol. I’m feeling a bit better today, the sun is shining so we’re going for a short walk. I need some fresh air and exercise. I’m hoping the test results will be through tomorrow, they’re usually quite fast. In the meantime, more water!

Yesterday I went to GD'S school concert, held every year in the school grounds, like a mini Glastonbury.
GD sang a solo then two duets, she was amazing especially as a music stand blew over and hit the back of her leg during the performance.
A lovely day had by all despite the wind.
DD and SIL are visiting this afternoon and we will have dinner together.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and grey Northampton and feels quite cool. I plan on walking to the paper shop before it warms up as I have a massive bill to pay. I meant to go in on Friday after dance classes but completely forgot.

A pleasant lunch with neighbours yesterday at a Chinese in town - we had dim sum, which if I'm honest wasn't to my taste. I would prefer a traditional Chinese meal (and another neighbour agreed with me). Still it was good to get out in good company - and I also met the ladyfriend of a neighbour who was bereaved last year; it is good that he has met someone. It was nice to see the restaurant full of Chinese families enjoying lunch out.

No other plans for today apart from the walk to the paper shop, except for some washing waiting to be put on.

I have little to report in comparison, though yesterday’s concert was lovely despite the church actually being warm, something I have never noticed in the thirty years I have known it. These mediaeval buildings take an age to warm up and an age to cool down.

Today will be slow moving, I think. Nothing much planned.

It started cloudy yesterday, but then became so hot! Had to seek shade in the cooler living room, as it was too hot in the shade under the Gazebo.

Order a couple of summer dresses in a sale, and read.

BBQ last night, when it was cooler.

Today I am meeting my friend for lunch in the Park.

Good morning from the south coast where it’s warm and cloudy.
I have urgent gardening jobs planned for today- things I started yesterday but gave up because of the heat. I’ll also do a wash to use a free hour of electricity. It’s funny but I can imagine my grandmother and mother tutting loudly because they would never have put washing out on a Sunday! I simply can’t waste a freebie though. 😂

Morning from S Hants, 20 already, slept ok though.
Yesterday was quiet, a little weeding, read the paper and ignored the ironing, MrJ’s area of expertise.
We had a nest in the greenhouse a couple of years ago Mizuna.
When my son lived at home baubles he had all sorts in his room, bearded dragons, a tarantula and little did we know at the time, a corn snake.
A quick hoover and dust this morning and a farm shop visit, meat draw later this afternoon.

I woke far too early, read my book, had a cuppa, went back to sleep after vivid dreams. The kind where you are about to board a plane and realise you forgot to pack-
I am anxious at present.

I will finish the pots today and my food safety course and remember to set the alarm for a very early start for my cataract operation tomorrow.

Good morning all and it’s already very warm here on the Suffolk coast. We’ve had a have every window open in the cottage and it’s comfortable at the moment.

Even the wind up here was hot yesterday, very unusual for us .

I sat in the summerhouse and read for a while but got bitten by something all around my ankles. So painful so I soaked them in cold water and smothered them in anti bite cream and also took half an antihistamine tablet.(they don’t agree with me).
Well , I dozed on and off during the evening and slept for 8 hours and still feel a bit dopey. They always have this effect on me, thereby only taking half.! 😴.

There were fireworks along the beach from us last evening, I’m not sure why, but they were very pretty over the sea.🎆🎇

Today we’ll tidy the cottage, pack things we need to take home and leave it spit spot for Dd, DGD , friend and child next weekend.
DS2 will be picking us up this evening, after his semi finals at his tennis club. He’ll be exhausted, poor love!

I’m so envious of those of you who have cooler, drizzly weather. I hate this heat and feel like a damp rag.

Good morning from Pembrokeshire where it is very dull and wet. Not holiday weather at all.
Yesterday was on the verge of wearing a light jacket and dull. However we took a drive and explored a number of seaside bays and walked a little.
No decision made for today yet.

After all the problems my Sister in Law has had over the last six months, she is now in hospital as. She fell over on Thursday , badly sprained her ankle and cracked 3 ribs. The medication they gave she was given made her violently sick so she has been kept in. Hopefully home today.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11^C and cloudy.

I have woken with a very sore throat and hacking cough. 😡
I seem to pick up every bug, doing the rounds! I'm feeling pretty grim and have a blinding headache. Hopefully it will pass.

We had a very enjoyable trip to the theatre yesterday, but only after I had to deal with more chaos and anarchy in the parish.
My plan had been to send out the e-bulletin and also upload it to the parish website, before going out.
However, time was running out and I still hadn't heard from the trainee sacristan, who was typing it up
Eventually, I phoned him, to find out, that he was about to print it, without having added the items, he had missed out.
I would be better doing it myself, but I'm trying to delegate.

Just as I was getting myself titivated, I saw a message from the Chief Sacristan. It is a misnomer, he swans around the sacristy, doing very little, then rushes off, because his wife stands at the door, arms folded, with a face like fizz, if he lingers.🤣
He was given the title when I was shielding and the P.P doesn't know how to revoke it.
The message read:: I think Fr X has the time of tomorrow's Mass wrong, could you sort it, I don't know how to contact him? 😡
I was raging, because this priest said Mass yesterday and this same sacristan was on the altar with him. Why didn't he sort it then?
I had DH hassling me to go for the train and I had this to deal with.
Then I had a brainwave, This retired priest lives in an annexe in the grounds of a church, where the P.P is someone I have known since he was a young boy. The phone rang and rang and I had just about given up, when he answered. I explained my predicament, there was a long silence, then he said, MD, I am in Lourdes. along with half the priests of the Diocese.
I eventually got it sorted.

The musical was very enjoyable, apart from me, accidently thumping DH with my stick!
An elderly lady was shouting at me from the back of the stalls, (we were at the front) not to sit down, her husband was disabled and they needed to get in to the middle of the row. I lost my balance, as she pushed in and poor DH became the the victim of an assault by a walking stick. 🤣

Afterwards, we headed for dinner in our favourite Italian restaurant. (Via the M&S sale 😉).
I had booked a lower floor, but it was so busy, they could not accommodate us.
I was taken down a service corridor to a secret lift and given a table on the top floor, with views over Glasgow. I wasn't complaining.🤣

Looking forward to my fritto misto, I enjoyed a bit of people watching.
Dinner arrived and I wondered, why I had barbecue sauce, instead of tartare sauce. I took one bite and it was chicken! DH had finished his meal, before my replacement arrived, it spoiled the experience a little.

Glasgow on a Saturday night was an alien experience to us. I have never seen it so busy, with tables of customers covering the pedestrian areas. I found the crowds of noisy, groups of rude young people quite intimidating. No-one seems to have manners these days.

I'm off to Mass, DH has gone to 8am Mass in the Cathedral, he can't bear the thought of the combined 11am Mass, and hordes of noisy, indulged weans! 🤣
We have the luxury of three sacristans this morning, because the masses are combined. I don't plan to do much I hope.

Good morning from the Essex coast where it is already very warm.
DD1 and S are going to Amsterdam today until Thursday. A treat after finishing her GCSE'S and school. S has been unwell this week and is very anxious about flying so I'm not sure how it will go, fingers crossed 🤞.
DH and I are going to the boat this morning to start taking supplies on board before his trip to Holland in 2 weeks time.

I’m hoping to enjoy today pottering in and out of the garden and catching up with jobs at home. Yesterday was so windy I couldn’t stay outside for long, it was great for drying the washing though. I’m gradually getting a few things ready for a quick week away soon, time to recharge the batteries again 😎

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It was a very hot 31 degrees yesterday but there was a breeze (gusts of wind). We went out on our bikes and it was lovely and we stopped for a drink in a lovely old pub garden on route. The afternoon was then spent reading and pottering in the garden.

Today the little monkey (6) is spending the day with us. We are planning an early visit to a local farm which has crocodiles and other animals and then home to play. The paddling pool and sandpit are out and the BBQ will be in action.

Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Checked DGD’s snake yesterday, he appeared to be fine and I gave him some fresh water. He doesn’t need to be fed for another few days but I’ll leave that to DH, it’s a step too far for me I’m afraid.

My favourite little cafe/restaurant closed its doors for the last time yesterday, I’m so sad as it was such a lovely place. We popped in for coffee and cake and said goodbye to the staff, most of whom don’t have another job to go to.

I realised when I went to bed that I’d completely forgotten to go for my shingles vaccination last night. I’m blaming the fact that it was after 7pm on a Saturday but it was in the diary. Slightly concerning as I also forgot to go to a Parish meeting the other night. So unlike me.

Not a lot happening today but I will be outdoors enjoying the sun after several days of rain.

Good morning from Shropshire where another warm day is forecast.

DD1 and family arrived home from Cornwall about 6pm.They had had a lovely holiday and all looked better for it.The children and little dog were very happy to be reunited.DH will miss his twice daily dog walks.

Today we have twelve hours of free electricity so lots of laundry will be done.

My kindle arrived at seven o'clock! Those delivery people start early. I'll sort it out and have an extra trip to Tesco to buy the things for dgs2 that Aldi didn't have. Ash I'm glad the church fair went well.

Thoroughly enjoyed an hour sitting by the sea wall yesterday watching the world wander by. Discovered the way to get Mr C to take paracetamol is to stand over him until he does. He is struggling and very grumpy.

Good morning from mid Essex, cloudy at the moment with a breeze, I slept fairly well despite the heat, but woke at 5 again. Yesterday I went for my usual walk while it was cool and walked a little way with some friends walking dogs. I pottered around in the house, tidying a few things away and getting rid of things I don’t use any more. Also ironed the clothes I’d washed on Friday.
No plans for today, family may call in this afternoon after a morning of ferrying the granddaughters to various functions and classes.
mizuna the summer fete sounds fun, good to know that some traditions are continuing and well done to the ladies tug of war teams!
