Hi, yes here I am again - sorry! I have just returned from a week abroad, fantastic. However, I have noticed a difference in my hearing since I returned on Wednesday of last week. I put it down to being in the plane but it's beginning to worry me now. My left ear in paritcular I feel quite a bit of a difference in my hearing. Not sure what to do whether to leave it for a while to see if it improves, go to my doctor or heaven forbid try and get an appointment with audiology. I am a bit anxious about going to audiology as they say your hearing shouldn't really get any worse and any time I've been they fill me with dread as I always get the feeling I am wasting their time. Any advise please?

I’m always deaf for a while after I’ve flown though not for longer than 24 hours. I’d probably try and get some advice, since it has gone on so long.
Hearing is precious.

Spent hours in audiology department having hearing tested, aids fitted and then having to return as they simply do not work. They augment and enhance highway noise from 1km away, screeching of plates and cutlery, jangling of keys, tinny sounds on radio but as to hearing what my OH is saying adjacent to me within 1m, forget it.
Returned to have them adjusted last Thursday ; technician spent a long time tweaking, adjusting, up and down, asking was it better or worse? Upshot of this wasted time was "think you can hear just as well without them". Amen to that. They are intrusive, make me giddy and nauseous and I STILL cannot hear properly. But maybe you will fare better?

If it’s a recent, significant change then get a visual check - either with your GP or at a high street place like SpecSavers to make sure there’s not an infection or blockage of some kind. Hearing doesn’t change/deteriorate quickly without a reason.

Gradual, long term deterioration go to audiology.

I’ve had hearing aids most of my life.

Quick update - I had an appointment yesterday with doc so he thinks I may have a blockage between ear and nose. I have a spray to put up my nose so shall see if this works. I'm glad I went. Fingers crossed.

Hope that sorts it out for you.
