Ice cream

I wish the rectangular wagers were readily available in supermarkets. I can get cornets, waffle cones, shells, chocolate covered cones, hundreds and thousands covered cones but not bog standard rectangular wafers.

Crossstitchfan. I am in my head doing a magical mystery tour and wondering if you drove back to Dover through Ramsgate. Pegwell Bay, Cliffsend, Sandwich, Deal and Dover? Or baak through St Peters, Manston and out to the Lord of the Manor roundabout and off to Dover that way. I can picture it all on a summers evening. We did similar car trips in my father's little box Austin in the 50s. As you say such happy memories.

I loved Morelli's ice cream. My late husband and I often drove over to Broadstairs on a summer evening after work. We made an evening of it:-
On arrival, a bag of chips,
After our first walk, a Morelli’s ice-cream,
Just before leaving for home (Dover), a hot chocolate - Morelli’s, of course!
We used to say that we were glad we didn’t live in beautiful Broadstairs, as we would be as fat as pigs!
Such happy memories.

We had a mini Magnum after dinner yesterday. Haven't had one in years. The best bit is biting off the dark chocolate from round the outside

My grandson came for lunch yesterday and I bought our favourite mini magnums for dessert. We love nibbling the chocolate off. To our disgust, we found all the chocolate cracked off and lying loose in the wrapper. I can only assume the box was dropped at the shop.
They just didn’t taste the same!

I remember my mother making something similar winterwhite it was as you say delicious.

My mother used to make ice cream in the 50s, at the height of summer and when we'd had our tonsils out. I think she used condensed milk, evaporated milk and eggs yolks. Freezer compartment of the fridge only took one tray, rest stayed in the fridge till needed. During freezing she took it out and beat it up 3 times. Must have been v hard work but tasted delicious.

Chocolatelovinggran nice to hear from someone who loves/lives in Broadstairs. My grandmother lived in Dundonald Road. Just back from the sea front. Many holidays spent there until we moved from London to Ramsgate. Broadstairs has a very dear place in my heart.

Mackie’s vanilla for me too - closely followed by raspberry sorbet.

Just to tempt you if you visit Vancouver, Canada. La Casa Gelato, an iconic, bright pink building is in the Guiness Book of Records because they always have 238 flavours of icecream! Open every day 1-9 pm.

Movenpick maple syrup and walnut is to die for.

I love ice cream .
Now the weather is hot it's all that I fancy to eat .
I used to make my own and it's easy .
I'm lazy these days and buy any that's on offer .

I think it's gone now - I can't find it anywhere.

Same as pineapple. Gallons of it when I was small but nowhere to be seen now.

Just freeze your banana (out of its skin) for an ice cream treat!

My best supermaeket ice cream is Mackies Vanilla. They used to do an organic vanilla which was even better.

My favourite ice cream parlour from the age of 6 has been Morellis in Broadstairs. I love everything about it from the Lloyd Loom chairs to the juke box. I akways

Our local garden centre has an Italian selling gelato - only in the summer unfortunately. The man in charge always recognises me and greets me in Italian, so I have to work out suitable answers before I go and place an order!

I don’t drink and I don’t smoke but ice cream is my vice and I go to the ice cream parlour in town at least once a week and sometimes twice and I have a wonderful concoction with strawberries and bananas Three different sorts of ice cream topped off with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles….😋

I noticed there was an ice cream stall at a local farmers' market this weekend and they were advertising liquorice ice cream. Unfortunately I couldn't make it along or I'd have been tempted to try it just to see what it was like.
We have a great local ice cream place not too far from us - Luca's in Musselburgh, if anyone's interested - and in the summer, the queues invariably stretch along the street. They do an Irn Bru sorbet, among their many interesting flavours.

Licorice ice cream ???
Look, I started this as a diversion on a hot day. I did not expect to be disgusted by a perversion called Licorice ice cream!
