I gave my aunt some posh biscuits - not too hard because of her teeth. Also some fancy tea. Depends what she likes and whether she has any allergies or intolerances. She did get her card from the Queen and was delighted with that. Mentally she was a sharp as a tack though very frail physically.

When my friend's uncle reached one hundred, she organised a tea party at a local hotel and invited the local provost (Scotland) who was delighted to attend and presented the uncle with a card from the queen. Her uncle was welcomed by a piper.
Could you do something relevant for her that sounds similar?

An audio book ?

Yes agree with RosieandherMaw more important to be there.
Flowers, you can't have too many.

I used to take DMiL flowers from my garden which smelled so nice. She
was only 98 when she died.

A pretty nightie? Or a pretty dress? DMiL would like these things.

Family get together. Tea & cake- maybe a little alcohol 😊 we did this for my dad, at the local hospital, staff kindly set up the day room, we brought trays of sandwiches & cake. Family came from all over.

Ha, that’s clever. Took me a minute to get there.

Totally agree😀

I have a way to go yet but I would like a really nice bottle of gin.

(Or any other birthday)

So would I, it doesn’t even have to be my birthday!

Seriously, presence rather than presents.

Or favourite foodie treats?
Does she drink? A bottle of champagne to share (or not share!). 🥂🍾

My godmother was 100 recently, I gave her some of her favourite perfume.

I bought the newspaper from the day of birth for my dad when he was 90. No idea what happened to it, probably got thrown out after my stepmum died as it would have meant nothing to the son that cleared the house.
I like the idea of the book of newspaper headlines but her sight is probably too bad for that now.
I’m wondering about perfume. Not sure if she can use a bath these days.
Trouble is, we don’t see much of her now, although my sister and I will be meeting up with her and her son on her birthday for afternoon tea.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, will keep pondering.

When my mum was 90 I bought her a book on-line that had the newspaper headline for every year on her birthday. I still have it though I lost my mum.

Newspaper from the day she was born?

There’s a company that will interview the person and create a story of their life.
We bought my mother new pillows for her 100th.

Before giving bath stuff, check that she hasn't developed skin intolerance as she's aged. Is there something that she likes to eat or drink that would be a luxury for her?

Vintagegirl Wed 02-Jul-25 15:21:00

I made up a 'photobook' of happy memories for my mother's 100th. I included all the great granchildren but had to be careful and not have any family who had passed on. I think it was a suggested of someone here? It was in covid and I could not travel to be with her but there was option to box and gift presentation the book and it was posted to her.

A special pedicure/manicure?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Jul-25 15:02:22

I meant to say that my mum liked Penhaligans, but my aunt (mums sister) preferred Chanel. But it is all nice.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 02-Jul-25 15:00:58

Nice bath stuff. Really expensive soap. Skin cream.

A member of my family is approaching 100. She has mobility problems, and failing sight but is still bright and alert. She lives in an assisted living facility and has carers come in. I am stumped for gift ideas other than the usual flowers but she will probably be inundated with those!
Any suggestions please?
