Gramdmattie 💐. A sad day for you. It’s always hard.
Jax thank you for news of FGT Mr. Please send them my love.

Georgesgran Fri 04-Jul-25 11:35:09

A late Good Morning from a very cool, windy, overcast Durham.
I was out at the crack of dawn to take hypochondriac friend to a medical appointment - as usual all to plan.
💐gM
You do so much for your DGSs Bellas so, is there any way your DD could reciprocate by having your poorly doggy, so you can attend your brother’s funeral. It really sounds as if you could do with a break from things.

Best wishes to all, X

Redcar Fri 04-Jul-25 10:49:12

Thank you for the update on fgt’s DH jax I do hope all goes well for them both.

Grannyme6 Fri 04-Jul-25 09:52:13

Good morning all. Taking a short break on the south coast, beautiful day. Thinking of Gmattie today 💐 and the FGTs, and all the good morningers who are under the weather or have worries.
Merlotgran your post reminded me that our S graduated from Kings, and we attended the graduation ceremony in Southwark Cathedral in early July - some years ago now. His son is about to embark on a medical degree in London, but not at Kings. How time flies!

Grandmabatty Fri 04-Jul-25 09:25:37

GrandMattie I meant to send you these. 💐A difficult day for you

Blossoming Fri 04-Jul-25 09:16:40

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

I’m still following doctor’s advice and drinking lots of water. Pleasant lady rang from the GP surgery and is arranging a prescription for antibiotics to collect from the pharmacy.

MrB and I are off for our morning walk shortly.

Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.

Have the best day you can everyone 🌹

BlueSapphire Fri 04-Jul-25 09:09:16

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine day lies ahead.

Yesterday was also lovely, and I did not do a lot. Spent the morning pottering, caught up with the newspapers over lunch, dealt with a Sainsbury's delivery.

I then must have had a brainstorm, as I dealt with the ironing which has been waiting since I got back from my cruise (in May!).

After that exertion I needed a rest so sat in the garden and read for an hour or so.

Dance classes this morning; won't get home till after 2pm, and will then sit in the garden and read again. I shall probably finish my book club read this afternoon - The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell - am really enjoying it.

Home-made curry from the freezer for dinner tonight.

💐💐 for grandMattie today.

Bellasnana hope you have a less worrying day.

I think I need a trip to Matalan.....

Wishing all a pleasant day.

merlotgran Fri 04-Jul-25 08:59:19

PS. Today, DGD graduates after 7 long years of studying medicine at Kings. I have been sent the link to the live stream of the ceremony at Southwark cathedral but I’ll probably be on the bus returning from lunch so I must remember to take my earbuds so I can watch it on my phone. I’ll have to to try not to cheer….or cry! 😂

hollysteers Fri 04-Jul-25 08:46:46

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday, carried on with the acrylic painting for Dson whilst listening to Vaughan Williams and a little time in the garden. I didn’t get to the local production as felt tired and realised I didn’t even fancy it. I’ve come to the end of The Pallisers by Trollope on YouTube and having withdrawal symptoms, but have found The Spoils of Poynton by Henry James in a similar vein.

Off to art group soon, then I will drop off more jumble at the charity shop. I try not to look in the bin bags as I’m tempted to rescue things😁
Thoughts to grandMattie, also to the FGTs and all🌺

Grammaretto Fri 04-Jul-25 08:43:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dry so far.

I woke thinking it was Saturday, not a good start. I had a long chat over coffee with the letting agent yesterday. He will go ahead and help find a suitable short term tenant for the flat.

I walked up to see a friend my age who was impressed by me walking for 15 minutes.
I do worry about people who jump in their cars for everything.

How wonderful to have the lifelong
friend gSomerset

A sad day for you gMattie 😢 good luck with rallying the residents.

I love the sound of your baby comedian Marydoll

I hope you and your little dog get well again soon Bellasnanna

I'm off to work at the till in the community shop/café as it's Friday. I hope I'm not alone as I still shouldn't lift or bend after my eye op.

My friend is coming for supper. Come to think of it, I've known him
for over 50 years.
I hope everyone has some joy today.

Ziplok Fri 04-Jul-25 08:42:18

Morning everyone.

Oh Marydoll that receptionist sounds a tartar and needs reporting. Who is she to over ride the opinions and advice of people knowledgeable in their field? I hope your relative puts in a formal complaint and I agree with you that you should too after her treatment towards you. It’s just not on.

Jaxjacky Fri 04-Jul-25 08:41:37

I will gMattie, of course.

merlotgran Fri 04-Jul-25 08:40:07

Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast. I’m another one changing the bed linen - to make use of the ‘free leccy’ hour at 9am.
Going for lunch with the U3A World Food group today. This month’s choice of restaurant is Italian with good gluten free choices so I’m looking forward it.
Thinking of FGT and Himself. Thanks for the update, Jaxjacky
💐 grandMattie
Ashcombe You look like Anna Wintour.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Gingster Fri 04-Jul-25 08:36:14

Good morning all and it’s going to be warm again.☹️.

Last evening i went to DS1’s to see DGD in her finery , ready for her Prom. She had 4 friends there all waiting for the limo to pick them up. It didn’t arrive. Muddled times and busy roads 😡. They sent another but we’re late for the pre dinner ‘cocktails’. I hope they get a refund as 5 young ladies were very upset.

Today I’m going to my friends for her to check all our LPOA before I send it off. She’s been marvellous.

Then off to our usual hostelry to meet our ‘old’ pals.

Hope you feel better soon Bellasnanna and also your lovely dog.🐾.

Enjoy the day as best you can 🌼

Marydoll Fri 04-Jul-25 08:14:54

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow.

Yesterday was so busy, it didn't help that it was wet and we were stuck in with a very cross BabyD. I can't figure out what is wrong with her.
We took ourselves to Morrisons( DH was driving, so I had no choice 😌), a shop which has gone downhill badly, to get supplies for DS and family.
DH of course, was in charge of the trolley ( I find it is a good walking aid) and was racing ahead, leaving me lagging behind, when I found my path blocked by a lady with a trolley.
I was muttering away about the fact that this shop is always like this, when I realised it was DD.🤣
BabyD spotted her and was extremely vocal, much to the amusement of the customers.
Every female member is called Auntie by her. However, yesterday, she called DD Auntie S.. DD was delighted, not so much, when BabyD spotted her at the checkout and roared Bye, Auntie S, all the way out of the shop. This child is no shrinking violet. 🤣

Later, I drove up to unlock the back door of the presbytery for the curate, who had phoned from the airport. I suspected there would be nothing to eat, so left him some goodies. I'm still waiting for a Thank you. and an apology for all the stress he has caused me this week, with his total incompetence.

Just as I was about to drive off, I received a message that the church cleaners had heard running water in the presbytery, when they were cleaning the church.
I went back in and did a search, but could not find anything amiss. I am uncomfortable doing this, for this is the priests' home.
DH was delighted to see me back, for BabyD had been in uncooperative mode. The remains of beef cobbler, strewn across the floor alerted me to her mood.🤣
The poor wee girl, just wasn't herself. 😪

Later, I had to go up to DS with their provisions and put some surprise treats for Dollie in the fridge.
They had been worried about getting home, due the French the air traffic controller strike. They were only thirty minutes behind schedule, thank goodness.

On the way to take BabyD home, we stopped at the doctors to get my new CD prescription. The receptionist couldn't find it. I insisted it was there, because I had phoned earlier.
Then her colleague ( the rudest receptionist in the practice) muttered something. Sorry, I didn't catch that , I said, I wasn't speaking to you, she snapped! 🤬

Just at that moment, DIL's mum and dad appeared. DIL's mum had infected mosquito bites and had been sent from the pharmacy to urgently see a doctor.
The rude receptionist was ruder than ever, NO APPOINTMENTS, she snapped, see a pharmacist or phone tomorrow for an appointment.
DIL's mum said she had already phoned the surgery and been advised to see a pharmacist, who said she needed to see a GP.
She was in tears, but the receptionist refused to budge,
I was so angry on her behalf.

This is the receptionist, who refused to tell me why the dermatologist had organised a prescription for me. It was only after I made a fuss, another receptionist intervened to tell me I had skin cancer!
I am seriously thinking of making a formal complaint.
Life is difficult enough, without a lack of compassion and kindness from a GP receptionist, when you are vulnerable and chronically ill.

I don't have really have plans for today, but I do know, I need a gentle one!

Bella, I hope your low mood improves, Blossoming , that you start to feel better and belated anniversary wishes to Ginny.
Good luck GM.and enjoy your lunch, Kalu.

Enjoy your day folks

grandMattie Fri 04-Jul-25 08:00:49

Thanks for the news, jax. Would you let the FGTs know that they are constantly in my heart and prayers, please?

ginny Fri 04-Jul-25 07:58:22

Good morning all.
Thank you for the anniversary wishes , we had a lovely day yesterday.
Today we leave Wales en route for an overnight stop in WestonSuperMere. Hoping to visit a ‘love spoon’ workshop on the way and visit the sand sculptures in Weston if they are there this year.
Thinking of all our poorlies or their family members and of those with sad anniversaries.
Hope today is good to all .

Susan56 Fri 04-Jul-25 07:55:04

Good morning from Shropshire.Another warm day forecast.

My eye appointment was ok not the best but definitely not the worst. The consultant however gave me his opinion on the medication I have been prescribed and have still to decide on.He was so helpful and I value his opinion. He gave me more information and reassurance than the consultant who prescribed the medication.

Today a quiet day until we collect Miss M from school and bring her here for a sleepover. She loves coming here without her little brother although she will miss him a little bit!

grandMattie thinking of you on this poignant day. Also I hope the pre meeting goes well.

Hope you feel better soon Bellasnana and that the antibiotics do the job for your dog🙏🏻

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 04-Jul-25 07:51:53

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. No idea what the weather is like as I’m still in bed!

OH will be taking over the kitchen today as he has a lot of honey to extract. He will put it in large storage tubs until we get back from holiday when I will help him put it in jars.

Our elder son and granddaughter are coming to stay for the weekend tomorrow so I need to sort things out for them.

I will also contact the pottery tutor about our efforts! I thought they were being fired this week so we could pick them up from her studio. I will also contact the Royal Academy artist about the print I bought which should be winging its way to me. The other two pictures I’m currently having framed won’t be ready until we get back from our holiday. I’m still trying to work out where to put all this art work!

I hope you all have the Friday you would like and that all is well with the FGT2S. I thought she may have returned by now.

Jaxjacky Fri 04-Jul-25 07:51:30

Morning from a sunny S Hants, gMattie FGT’s himself started chemo yesterday.
Yesterday was house cleaning, well downstairs anyway, hob, oven, units, floors and I’ve ordered a new extended duster thingy for ceiling cobwebs. The old one is falling to pieces and is now in the bin.
Today I’ve stretch class this morning, blood test this afternoon before Tesco delivery and pub tonight. As I thought Southern Water are making noises about water shortages, so the garden butts will be topped up from the hose.
Very south of Françe Ashcombe a bargain.
Bellas probably Covid, similar symptoms to me a couple of weeks ago, stay hydrated and rest.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a rainy start to the day
gMattie💐
How lovely grannysomerset that you’ve a lifelong friend to share so many memories with, I’ve never managed that
I’ve a quick gym class at lunchtime today, a quick trip to DD2s and then home to finish packing. We’re away tomorrow firstly to visit DHs sons in Manchester and then a quick week away in Tenerife, a quieter resort so hoping for some rest and relaxation
Hoping things improve soon Bellas for both you and your dog
Lovely picture Ash
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

latedecember1963 Fri 04-Jul-25 07:48:45

Good morning everyone.
Sending an unmumsnetty hug to both grandMattie and Bellasnana with your remembrances and present day worries.

GrandmaBatty, I love having a rootle round Matalan. I've had some fantastic clothes from there over the years and when the kids were little I always kitted them out for the summer from there and a shop called Dunnes that used to be in Heywood but closed years ago.

I had a successful trip to the garden centre yesterday. I got the compost I went for and somehow a few plants 'fell' into my trolley too!

A day of housework ahead to leave me free over the weekend.
Take care all! 🌻

EkwaNimitee Fri 04-Jul-25 07:44:03

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where I believe it's due to get windy later. I hate wind.
Yesterday I did some minor cleaning then spent around 2 hours in the front garden, feeding the lawn, weeding and hacking back the neighbour's bushes which would cover my drive by now if I never did anything., they certainly don't.
In the afternoon I finished trawling through my paperwork, little has been chucked out sadly. I've also started a new book, an Amazon freebie but so far it's hardly gripping me.

Today I await the plumbers who are to replace a radiator and flush the system. I'm not sure how all that activity will disrupt my day. Hopefully I'll find a quiet corner to read my book or shut myself in my office to research some flights I need.

Have the best possible day everyone,

Redcar Fri 04-Jul-25 07:41:37

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny mid Essex. I was at DD1s yesterday, keeping the dog company while DD and her DH were both in the office. One of the DGDs was at a friends after school, DD2 collected the 10 year old from after school club and delivered her to me late afternoon. The dog had a good walk with the dog walker. It was cool in their house, very pleasant. The 6 & 7 year olds have their sports morning today before it gets too hot.
A food delivery for me this morning but otherwise nothing much planned.
glammagran I hope you can remove the piece of glass from your finger, and get your hay fever under control!
bellasnana I hope you feel better soon, it’s very uncomfortable being ill when it’s so hot. I hope your little dog responds well to his tablets.
mizuna sunny and 20 degrees in Cornwall sounds like heaven to me! Enjoy dismantling and sorting the Lego and then your trip to the north coast.
Thinking of those who are unwell and in pain of any kind.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a sunny WKent where I shall be starting the day by making a batch of spag bol for the freezer, with DD1 coming next week I need to start planning ahead. Later I have my small deaf group who are all very nice, we put the world to rights.
Best wishes to all
