The Bank of England has asked the public to re-design bank notes

People have a month to influence a major re-design of bank notes. They can select from certain themes such as architecture, innovation, the arts or to suggest their own topics.

I personally would like to see British wild animals or maybe famous British animals but this, apparently, is unlikely to be an acceptable theme. What would GNs like to see?

I see Notey McNoteface has already been suggested grin

I'd also love to see British wildlife featuring on bank notes.

It may not be an acceptable theme, though - far too hypocritical, seeing that the pursuit of money has only ever been to the detriment of British wildlife.

Definitely wildlife.

There was discussion on another post about making people laugh on GN. Yes Blossoming, you are now guilty of that. grin

Magenta, I like the way your OP sets this out. I saw the daily mail approach earlier. It expressed outrage that Churchill was to be removed and replaced by woke ideas

I'd like to see a theme of native British trees and/or wildflowers.

Yes, an ecological theme would be good.

Mrs Tiggywinkle says she's almost ready for a photo shoot, just sprucing up her quills.

Blossoming Thanks for drawing my attention to Notey McNoteface it made me laugh.

Iam64 Thank you. I am getting very tired of the way 'woke' is being used as a term of abuse in certain circles. Most of my information came from the BBC news website and I personally see nothing wrong with having a change from Churchill, Jane Austen and co. If that makes me 'woke' then I think I can live with that. Trust the Daily Mail to try and turn it into a political issue.

There definitely seems to be support for British wildlife so far. Thank you to everyone who has posted a comment.

Interesting as I think they want to do away with any kind of cash in the next few years so they can keep tabs on us as we pay by trackable bank cards.

Maybe British cartoon characters like Rupert Beat, Dennis the Menace, Dan Dare or the Mekon?
