There’s a very concerning warning on my bottle of Fairy Original washing up liquid:

“Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects”.

Quite a price to pay for sparkling dishes.

It’s a good job you’re not a mermaid then 😱🤣

Or using it to wash your pond?

I expect it's the anionic surfactants.
Many supermarket own-brand washing-up liquids have high percentages of these too.

You need an "Eco" brand if you want to cut down on these.

Yes we always use the Eco ones
I guess it could do harm either from the factory emitting the product into streams or our water down the plug hole and where it goes
I have to be honest and say I hadn’t read any small print and didn’t realise about the fish but will carry on with my Eco brand

It’s not even small print, Bluebell, it’s a very prominent warning on the back of the bottle. Yes, it’s probably the anionic surfactants, NotSpaghetti. They will go down the drains and into the waste water treatment system, which can only partially remove them, before being discharged into the environment.

Yes, there are plenty of eco alternatives.
