Town Hall wedding venues - live streaming

My DD 2 was married this year in Islington Town Hall. Lovely building. Very pleasant registrars. Just what she and Dh wanted. The 2 of them and both mums as witnesses. So simple.

When I read about big weddings and sometimes lots of hassle, stress and fallings out, I am so pleased this is what she wanted.

My DD was married there as well! Twenty five years ago last August, reception at Chelsea Physic Garden, a lovely day.

We hired an old red bus to get people to the reception and also had lots of clapping and photo-bombing.
The red bus also had its photo taken and the guests all loved it.

One of the guests took lots of photos of other people laughing and clapping and taking photos of the wedding party.
Very jolly and celebratory!

My brother was married at Chelsea Old Town Hall in 1980. I don’t think the ‘Old’ bit was part of the title then.
I just thought of all the famous people who’d stood on those steps.

Our youngest daughter got married 16 years ago in Manchester Town Hall. A beautiful building in so many ways. Black & white photographs on the spiral staircase, a harpist from Chetham’s School of Music. It was all so memorable with 120 guests for the wedding breakfast in the V&A hotel and another 80 joined us in the evening.

Our eldest daughter got married 3 years ago in Yorkshire. A registry office with just 2 friends as witnesses on a rainy Monday lunchtime in Leeds then the 4 of them nipped over the road for a curry afterwards! No invites for family - I didn’t get to go and wear a Big Hat. Was I bovvered or hurt? Absolutely not. I was just delighted to see her so happy and received one photo of her looking very stylish in a pretty tea dress on the steps of the registry office.

Both daughters chose exactly what they wanted to do so.
Each would have hated what their sister organised!

The strangers clapping on the steps is such a lovely London thing! Those candid moments with tourists photo bombing often end up being some of the best memories and photos - sounds like your DD and new son-in-law took it in the right spirit 😊

We had a similar thing with live streaming for my daughter's wedding in September - was a shocki for elderly relatives and friends abroad who couldn't travel. My cousin in Australia was in tears watching it live, felt like she was right there with us. The technology really is amazing when you think about it!

The flower walls sound stunning - we actually used Bridebook when planning and it was brilliant for keeping track of all the suppliers, décor ideas, and coordinating with the florist.

Honestly don't know how I would've managed without it - having everything in one place and being able to share timelines with vendors made such a difference. Would definitely recommend it if anyone's in the planning stages!

The last wedding we went to was at our local Registrars office and it was lovely. It's quite an old building situated on the edge of a park. Easy parking, a beautiful service which didn't seem rushed. A bit different to when we got married at a registrar office in the same town 50 years back.

One daughter was married in Stoke Newington Town Hall, another in the Vestry House Museum in Walthamstow and a third in a parish church in Moseley.
Each wedding was exactly as the couple had planned it and each unforgettable not least because of the involvement of family and friends - playing the organ, readings, being part of the event.
I love the fact that wedding venues can be so different and also so meaningful to the couple. Their receptions/wedding breakfasts were similarly chosen to be unique and meaningful to them.

I shouldn't say I was AMAZED - that sounds a little condescending -I meant both the Registrars were warm hearted and added a touch of humour without being disrespectful to the occasion...it was just perfectly pitched..I don't know why I was so nervous...

Aww Chocolatelovinggran I didn’t know anything about this venue until yesterday and was amazed at how the staff were so friendly and welcoming.
Yes the building is very beautiful and spotlessly clean inside 🤩

I love a wedding, and am slightly shamefaced to report that I dipped in and out of the live streaming day when this venue did a celebratory one hundred weddings: it's such a great building.
Live streaming is so good for folk who can't attend for any reason.
I'm a sucker for a celebration of love (and I'm long divorced!)
