its wall to wall sunshine this week,please don't waste it

We’ve had the long overdue rain for a couple of days here in the SE, and the garden looks fresher for it. Now looking forward to some more sunshine.

I feel the cold so much and do wish we had more months of summer weather. I love not having to go out in layers and all wrapped up.
If winter could save itself for one week, with snow on Christmas Day, that would suit me!

I enjoy the sunshine but not the blistering heat that is forecast for later this week. It saps my energy. Give me around 24 degrees and I’m a happy bunny. Much hotter (with our humidity anyway) and I can’t function as well. I think we all need to be careful too, to make sure we protect ourselves from the damaging effects of too much sun exposure, so enjoy but be careful.

My DH has heart failure, has had bypass surgery and has a pace maker. Weather like that we had last week and is forecast this week could kill him.

Neither he nor I will be 'getting out into this lovely weather'.

He will be staying indoors in the coolest part of the house keeping up his fluid intake and taking cool baths. I am off to buy some more hydrating drinks with the necessary salts and minerals.

Well I love warmth as it means I don’t hurt in my achy parts for a change. So keep it coming.

I don’t think the sun causes cateracts or else no one in Siberia would get them and everyone in Australia would have them (most ‘older’ Brits get them and we only get two weeks of sunshine a year🤣)

The thing I always remember is that the maximum temperatures given by weather forecasters are shade temperatures; it will obviously be significantly hotter in the sun, especially in built up areas.

I don’t like the very hot weather at all.
It drains me of energy.

I am on my ‘holidays’ in the Lake District and it has been wall to wall rain and cold temperatures since we arrived for the Cumbrian Wool Festival three weeks ago 😡. I am very happy for those on whom the weather gods have smiled, but must admit to wishing they would keep their good fortune to themselves. For a couple of consecutive minutes at least.

Rained overnight here, stopped at the moment but still windy.
I don't like the heat at all, anything over 21/22 degrees keeps me inside. Much prefer the autumn.
My OH totally opposite and will sit out in the baking sunshine.

We really haven't had your heatwave here in Scotland. My DD had a week of rain last week on her annual holiday. The kids enjoyed it.

I can't sleep if it's too hot and can't function at all above 30°. I love sea swimming though.

Does sunshine cause cataracts whitewavemark? I always wear a hat, since my BCC but I dislike sunglasses.

Family meant to be in Berlin but no flights till Tuesday morning because of thunder storm 😨

From Wednesday onwards we're into the early 30s here again, SW France, rising to 35 degrees on Saturday. I've decided to go back home where it's cooler because I'm not getting out and about much, and l've had enough lounging around.
I hope the fine weather lasts for the school holidays. It's so much easier when the young ones can be outside, with protection from the sun, of course.

I’m currently looking for a replacement fan/air con.
The extreme heat makes me feel ill and grumpy. Can’t do anything and feel like a shrivelled up worm!

I thought last night, I waste lighter evenings in particular.
But got nowhere as to what I should actually do with them ,when there are lots of nice ones.

At least we have had a bit of time for our bodies to adapt, ready for the next heatwave.

I don`t cope with too much stifling heat so stay out of the sun during the dangerous hours. Often first to my allotment at 5.30, which is glorious, dewy with birdsong and the awakening sun, then I am content to stay in my cave for the rest of the day

I have noticed on my cycle rides, that many big trees are really struggling and now have that tired dull tinge, marking the forthcoming change of season.

Of course enjoy this glorious weather, but make sure that you factor up with 50 SPF. UVB and UVA.

Sun hat and sun glasses.

Lots of fluid.

You are then protected from skin cancer and cataracts.

Then enjoy😊.

But if you are pretty ancient like me - getting out of the middday sun is very sensible. Overheating when old or very young is putting too much strain on your heart.

When it gets above 24 I stay put and keep out of the sun. I enjoy sunny days but not the heat and humidity.
