its wall to wall sunshine this week,please don't waste it

I would love to be out there enjoying the weather we have had the last few days, which has been perfect for me, neither too hot not too cold.

Unfortunately, the thunderbugs/ thrips are drifting in their millions right now, so even a quick sprint to the dustbin and back has left me scratching like mad with these tiny pests crawling all over me.
Still, I am hoping to be able to go for a long walk this evening when hopefully their numbers will have diminished for the day.

I've given this phenomenon a new name - it is now referred to as 'thunderbuggery' in our household.

Warm, sunny spells here in Brum. We've just had a lovely walk around beautiful Walsall Arboretum.

Don`t discount reflected heat and light eg two of my windows are affected by heat and very bright light bouncing back from two houses, like mine , they are covered in very pale cream render. These windows are downstairs on my west/NW side. I have angled my plantation shutters up to deflect that unwanted input. Can still see out and still have enough light

All and any `work` is done now, I am fading in the heat which intense on the East.SE side now., the sunlight is intense. I cope with plantation shutters made from pale painted wood plus reflective perfect fit blinds on the 5 patio doors and all are drawn and shut

23C is cold here for Summer ! You get used to the heat wherever you live. My husband had a melanoma so he always wears hats. If they hadn’t removed it they said he would have had about 6 months to live. One of the negatives about living in a hot country. B

Well it hasn’t been wall to wall, or even much at all, sunshine here in north Manchester. Another grey day. We had a drizzle of rain overnight, so wellies again on the dog walk fields. Humph

What I like about the current weather is the warm days and then relatively cooler nights (mostly) which I think is the perfect combination!

I used to love the heat but the older I’ve got the more I dislike it when it goes above 24. Today in the south east it has been, in my opinion, a perfect summer’s day. Warm but not baking, a few fluffy clouds and a pleasant breeze. I’m dreading the 30 plus days.

I’m loving the sun in the garden & by the sea, but getting bitten to pieces by insects, which have started appearing in swarms.

I would love a shading awning at the back of the house, ESE facing, it gets the hot sun until afternoon. I know they can be added on but I don`t want the upkeep or the initial expense. All these fabrics eventually break apart, affected by UV light and it is very strong here, during these intense heatwaves

We are so short of water, even my rowan tree has died. Birds are sensible creatures, they are silent in the heat of the day and they empty my water feature every day

Me, I have never, during the whole, of my life reveled in strong sun. over a theoretical 23 degrees means that my suntrap garden will be much more than that, so I need to live in my cave until the cooler hours

Life is at a standstill, I have plants to put out on my allotment, no point this week, they would shrivel and die. No cycling, no strenuous walks. Body health comes first.

My best seasons start with autumn

Another lover of sunshine here - I'm very sensible about sitting in the shade a lot. Wear hat, sunglasses, suncream, and thin clothing. Drink lots of water. Heaven!

Going down to London for a few days at the weekend, planned and paid for months ago. Guess we will be spending most of our time in museums/galleries/Harrods to keep out of the 30C+ temperatures. Even up here in the frozen north (yorkshire) it is predicted to be in the high 20s. Been out sightseeing today in lovely temperature, around 21C - perfect in my opinion.

I do like the sun, but unfortunately, last summer I had heatstroke and it really frightened me.
So I don’t venture out for too long now if it’s really hot.

Im off to the seaside on Thursday its even to be high 20s in NE Scotland

I love the sunshine, it makes me feel happy, smile more etc. It's great just to sit and soak up the sun, ( albeit with hat, factor 50).
However let's not forget that we're in the midst of an environmental crisis which unfortunately, in my view the government along with past governments are still not tackling. In the words of climate scientist Peter Kalmus, ' We're slowly cooking'. The government needs to address this crisis with much greater urgency.

Winter and those dark nights will rear its ugly head very soon.

I don't like the heat, never have! Doesn't help the grass isn't long enough to cut to make hay and even if it was, the bleeding tractor has stopped working!!! Always when you need it. It was fine yesterday and it's a mechanic fix!

But, other than that, if you like it, if you can, yes, enjoy it!

Neither am I, such heat doesn't suit everyone, anyway we are ADVISED TO KEEP OUTT OF THE SUN FROM MID DAY TO 4 P.M.

I hope those who enjoy the sun/heat get as much of it as they would like. I'm also with the others who would tell you to load up on proper sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and hydration.

My mum has Melanoma and sadly, as a young child, she though I should be out in the sunshine, so I suffered several sunburns as a child growing up in California.

I am 2 shades whiter than milk and the sun has never loved me back. Thus, over time, I have come to very much look forward to the Autumn and the darker nights. I know that sounds very strange to the average person.

The sun and heat cause me to feel very unwell. I have a known sensitivity to both the bright light and the heat.

But I would never want those who dearly enjoy a great day out to not be able to enjoy it.

I actually love the summer, although I am much more sensible about sun protection. I thrive in the daylight and simply love summer vibes - fairs, fetes, summer concerts, outdoor theatre, gardens etc. it is all so lovely.

Off today for lunch on the patio at The Parsons Table in Arundel with my DS. and respective DHs. Then a stroll up the river Arun.

Having had a melanoma scare, I am ultra cautious about sunning myself. It has been too hot for me in the most recent heat wave, so there was no incentive to sit in the sun for more than about 15 minutes, wearing SPF 50 which I wish had been available for me 60 years ago, given the evidence of unwise exposure in my 20s. This week, I'll be keeping out of the sun and watching - on TV - poor souls sweating it out at Wimbledon.

Am so pleased the BBC forecast for Thursday to Tuesday has come down a bit. Was at 33° for days for London Now down .
Yippee.
Over 25 and I wilt.

The extreme heat is returning here in South Bucks and it is just too much. Fortunately off to the New Forest on Friday where it will be a pleasant 25 degrees for the week.
