Went to see the Royal Yacht Britannia, and was impressed with how much Leith has changed since the eighties( also when Trainspotting was set). Back then, it was a rough port in decline and not somewhere tourists to Edinburgh would visit.
Obviously there are still some poor areas away from the harbour front, but Leith is definitely a much better place now. I enjoyed seeing the Ocean Terminal, having a meal overlooking the Firth of Forth and the new apartments on the harbour front, the Royal Yacht, and seeing that floating five star hotel. Also loved my ride on the tram to Princes St.

The early release scheme it's a gimmick and helps no-one but criminals. Just build more prisons.
