Good Morning Sunday 13th July 2025

Good morning everyone from a grey and cloudy Northampton, but have just looked out and the sun is making an appearance. It should be a bit cooler though.

Was on the 8am bus yesterday to the shops, had a coffee and iced bun in M&S Food and did my shopping split between M&S and Sainsbury's. Also called in Poundland as I needed a new nailbrush (2 for £1!), and came out with a lovely new dress for £10! Nice and light, the right length, and all that needed doing to it was to catch down the crossover V neck - otherwise too revealing!

A late brunch, then this afternoon shall be going to see what may be DGD1's last end of year dance show. Next term she will be upper sixth and concentrating on A levels. The end of an era - she was 3 when she started at stage school - where has the time gone? This week has seen her 5th university open day visit, this time to Cambridge. I shall wear my new £10 dress to the show, and be nice and cool!

Good morning all from Mogan in Gran Canaria where it's currently 20° and sunny.

Yesterday's journey was tiresome but fairly smooth. We were picked up at three in the morning and arrived at our resort before lunch. I have a lovely, spacious apartment and it's very quiet which suits me. The meal last night was really tasty then we wandered down to the Marina. The boys were really well behaved and are enjoying themselves too.
This morning I'll have breakfast at the hotel then find the pool. The day will unfold itself after that. Have a good day all.

Well, the new phone saga continues and I’m still unable to register on two banking Apps. Amazon, who promised a delivery on Friday but didn’t, have now promised today. Meanwhile, I have no internet or Sky tv! New equipment’s coming in 3/5 days. Luckily, the family room tv isn’t connected to the internet, so I can watch a limited number of channels in there.

Not sure what’s happening today. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a day at home, doing my own thing.

The heat has been too much for me, seriously affecting my breathing and heart. It has made me feel quite unwell and unsettled..
To think I used to wander Rome in temperatures pushing 40°C, with no ill effects.

This morning we have combined two masses and have two collections, so I'm going down to help the two sacristans on duty. This combination Mass has been exceptionally busy.
My first task will to open all the windows and doors to let the air circulate. The church can become uncomfortably warm.

On my return, I plan to make salmon fishcakes, with a salad. It is too hot to contemplate cooking a Sunday dinner, despite DH's request!

Maw, I hope your fears are allayed and you have a positive outcome.

Good morning and here in Essex it’s overcast and cool, for a change. We had a cool breeze blowing through the bedroom which was very welcome.

What a sad match the ladies final turned out to be. I felt so sorry for the runner up. Hopefully the men’s final will prove a little more exciting.

Dd and DGD will be coming for lunch. No cooking, just tapas style food . Dh likes a roast but he’ll be fine, as long as it’s food, he doesn’t much care.

I watched the Simon and Garfunkel concert which was fabulous. They were such good friends which shone out in their performance. What a shame they fell out.

I fancy a swing seat in our small garden Karma and Mizuna. We’ve had them at the seaside house. A wooden one and a metal one, but they do need a lot of maintenance.
Very calming and relaxing though..

Morning from another sunny, warm start in S Hants, I gave in overnight and was up at 4:30 just sitting out, our bedroom was so warm, went back and grabbed some more sleep.
MrJ’s golf went well yesterday, he came second, but the presentations went on, we didn’t get home until 8:30, so eating was scrappy.
Family here this afternoon for a bbq, meat draw in pub later and of course, the tennis.
gMattie I’d have left the courgettes a day or two until it cools down!
Ash and harrigran our French house was like that, thick wales and tiled, cool even in 40.

Good morning from N Bucks where it is pleasantly cool, but it won’t last.
I’ve been taking a bit of a back seat re Gransnet as I have a possible melanoma diagnosis hanging over me, but well, life goes on doesn’t it?
Off to Birmingham in a couple of hours to join D1 and family at Longbridge Opera for The Barber of Seville. Unlike The Flying Dutchman at Holland Park, last month, it should be a balmy summer’s evening and not blowing a hooley!
I’m providing the picnic supper of honey roasted drumsticks, barbecue glazed little sausages, crudités and tortilla chips and dips, mini Melton Mowbray pies, assorted “picky bits, olives etc courtesy of M&S and cherries. So I’ll be packing up the cool bag at the last possible moment.
I know many of you are gong through it at present, so I send you all possible positive vibes and my kindest thoughts.

DD1, SIL and GS4 arrived yesterday afternoon and we settled in for curry and a good catch up.
Today DD2 is entertaining us all at her house with a bbq. It’s a while since they have all seen each other.

We had a lovely day yesterday.DD and SIL took us out for lunch then headed off to Birmingham to meet friends.DGS was good as gold although a later bedtime than usual!We were expecting DD and SIL home about midnight but the train was cancelled so they managed to find a hotel.They hope to be on the first train this morning.Both are stressed as they have only left DGS a handful of times overnight.Hoping he won’t be upset when he wakes up and they aren’t here🤞🏻

Change of plans today.We will now take DGS to a birthday party.Hopefully his parents will meet us there.

It has been so hot.Lying in bed I just looked up and DD’s bedroom has a ceiling fan🤦🏼‍♀️how have I never noticed that🤷‍♀️

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s grey and a cool 16 degrees at the moment, hopefully the cloud will burn off this morning. A fresh breeze yesterday made the heat bearable. I did a little weeding, soon the “lawn” will be completely covered in weeds, which are still growing in the heat. I then cleaned the bathroom including the shower tray & drain- yuck! Did a little ironing, then did nothing for the rest of the day. DD1 rang in the evening, after cricket for the 6 year old and the end of year show for the 10 year old. Apparently the theatre wasn’t air conditioned and the show was late starting. I think they had lunch at about 3 o’clock!
They may call in this afternoon, after more cricket for the 6 year old. DD2 will call in later too.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset feels fresher this morning.

Thoroughly enjoyed an hour by the sea wall yesterday, the fairly strong breeze I so dislike in cooler weather felt wonderful. We’ll repeat this morning before a day of very little. Mr C has requested a hot meal today, goodness I worry about that man sometimes. A salad for me.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's already hot on my patio. Yesterday I took delivery of my new painting, first time I've bought an original, so am excited. Also started another Boro-style jacket, made from floral dresses and skirts. A total shift from my go-to denim, we'll see how it progresses. 🤔😊

Today, breakfast on my swing seat before the real heat begins, sewing and watching the Wimbledon men's final. No church, too hot.

Good morning from north Wales where it is already 17 degrees.
Slept well as the very thick stone walls keep the heat out.
Yesterday DS and GD went to Lidl and bought a large paddling pool, the young ones enjoyed cooling off in it and messing around with water pistols.
Today we are travelling up Snowdon on the mountain railway, the family will be walking down but I am doing the return journey on the train.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s going to be another scorcher when the thick mist clears.
I love this weather as we really don’t get enough of it.

Baggs and I had a smashing day out yesterday, the church, which is now a museum was so interesting and will be worth another visit. We walked a fair bit interspersed with stops for sustenance.

Today after Mass and my counting duties we will pop over to see DD and family for a couple of hours to hear all about their holiday. DD and eldest DGC are then off to a music festival in Glasgow, they are going with a friend of DGD’s and her mother. The oldies have been given strict instructions that they are not to stand beside the girls but they are permitted to be at a distance, (but they’re not to be embarrassing!)🤣

I’ll probably spend a while reading in the garden when we get home.

I took that notion of a swinging seat right out of my head pdq, after all I don`t want any more maintenance, I was looking at expensive wood and then the reality of winds and worry and the sheer bulk. Instead I finished removing vegtrug 2, swept up and did a bit of fengshui and now my big patio area by my house does look lovely and has a new peaceful vibe

Next year I intend to have only cascading begonias, plugs not corms. My dozens of strawberries are going, they are useless. I will fill my 12 troughs on the etageres with easy-care begonias. So that is the plan and no more, work-making, squash plants at home, the ones on the plot are thriving without my intervention

Two more large vegtrugs to do but in a few months. I wish I had not bought them, especially hot metal trugs but we live and learn.

I was busy yesterday, only early and late and all outside, transporting a soil mountain, dismantling etc. Today I will be relaxing and giving my aches a chance to disappear. I do have a dining table full of sewing folders etc and I could do with finishing that job during the cave hours. First a tip trip and that is all the physical work I intend to do today. Car is loaded

In my working days when offspring needed school shirts ironing, that would have been my routine. Now, we rarely see dawn unless viewed through the bedroom window over TIB! Luckily the thick walls and tiled floors of DH's house keep it cool throughout the day. (so I have no excuse!!)

Good morning, another scorching hot day ahead 😵‍💫
We’re about to take the dogs out then, like yesterday, a day of doing as little as possible.
I did do some watercolour painting yesterday before it got too warm, and my first attempt at charcoal which I quite enjoyed.
DH and the dogs spent most of the day dozing, the house isn’t too bad with the fans on and the curtains drawn but it feels a bit like living in a cave!
I will water all my pots when we get back, it’s just too hot to do in the evening.
My photosensitivity rash is slightly better but looks absolutely awful, like some dreadful skin disease 🫣
I have had to buy some long sleeve tops and I have bought a sun hat from the company recommended by a lovely GNer on here 🙏🤗

Good morning from another hot one in La Sarthe.

Yesterday we fetched the cats home mid morning. DH realised that in her (almost) 20 years, Lola had never spent a night away from home. She enjoys disgustingly good health! Once we arrived home, she was back to her usual fidgety ways - shall I go out? Stay in? On a lap? On the floor? Just the same fliberty gibbet as ever! Perry was happy to rediscover his joy in the big outside world of the garden!

No plans for today although I shall need to tackle the ironing that’s accumulated since DH fell out with his cleaner. It’s the one domestic skill he hasn’t acquired over the years.

Good morning from a hot, tinder dry Bristol.
How I dislike these very high temperatures; my face turns puce, my glasses slip down my nose, I’m soggy from perspiration and am glued to my chair… so glad it eases from tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer and the warmth, but over 26C sees me “melting”.
At the church coffee/chat, I was given overgrown courgettes, so I had to make chutney, involving 2 hours simmering. I’ve got an incredibly busy week ahead so o real choice. It made 11 pots.
Church today and nothing else, just preparing myself for the forthcoming week.
I hope bellasnana is ok. Prayers for everyone unwell, unhappy, lonely; especially to MD and the FGTs. Stay hydrated and in the shade!
