Good morning everyone from Inverness, we’re safely back home after a lovely relaxing holiday, just what we needed
A very Happy Birthday Ginny enjoy your day in the garden
I’ve all the usual holiday washing to do today so I’ll be busy doing that, a trip to Tesco and I’ll call round to DD2s later
I hope everyone is doing ok, I didn’t post whilst away but took a break from my iPad so I’ve lots of news to catch up on.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It definitely feels cooler this morning so I will have a housework morning. It is tempting to go out with DH cycling but as I have a busy next couple of days out and about really need to get some jobs done.
My 11 year old Dgd2 leaves her Junior school today she is quite emotional and has a leavers disco and various events happening today so no school pick up for me as DD2 has taken the day off to help at the school.

Happy Birthday Ginny 🥂 and good wishes to all

Happy birthday Ginny

Happy Birthday ginny, enjoy your day. flowers.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and cool at the moment. I doubt we’ll see any of the showers that are forecast for sometime later today, but we can but hope. I went shopping in the nearest big town yesterday and enjoyed a little wander around some of the shops. I finally spent some vouchers that had been burning a hole in my purse since my birthday in March.
I did a (very) little gardening, pulled up the dead poppies, and hoed some weeds in the front garden. I must water the plants in pots today and give the tomato plants a feed. I have lots of very small tomatoes which are only growing very slowly and showing no signs of ripening.
Nothing planned for today apart of visiting my friend with dementia later.
grandmattie, a relief that your BCC can be treated easily.
I hope that restarting the biologics will improve your problems marydoll.
Safe travels to all those in the move today and thoughts to everyone with mountains to climb.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Tue 15-Jul-25 07:18:43

Happy birthday, Ginny, have a lovely day!

ginny Tue 15-Jul-25 07:12:41

Good morning from a cooler N.. Bucks.
Quite a breeze outside.
It’s my birthday today and we are out to Coton Manor Gardens which is in Northamptonshire so not too far
Dinner out this evening with DH and DD2. All 3 DDs are taking me out on Saturday but I don’t know where to.
The picture is of lilies in the garden. I was given a pot plant last year and thought I would try planting it. So glad I did they are so pretty.
Wishing all a good day, especially those with worries and troubles.

Marydoll Tue 15-Jul-25 07:10:49

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

GM,;I'm sure you are relieved like I was, that your your BCC is early stage.

Glammagran, we do have CCTV, but items are being taken from the toilets. I think it may be illegal to have CCTV in public toilets. 😉 We also provide women's sanitary items, I expect them to go too. 😪
My view is, that if someone is so desperate, that they need to steal baby necessities, they are welcome to have them.

My consultant phoned me early yesterday and I missed him, because DH and DD had taken over the kitchen, making coffee and having one of their secret chats and my phone was lying on the worktop.
I had an anxious wait, worried he wouldn't call back.
He did and was shocked that I hadn't yet had my urgent oral medicine appointment and that my GP had abandoned me.
The outcome is that I will restart my biologics, because after a break of sixth months, they are obviously not the cause of my problems, but I will stop another toxic medication in a few weeks to see if that has any effect.
Also, I will have a raft of blood tests done at a local hospital on Friday, rather than trail to my usual one over the river, where parking is horrendous.
Parking here is not much better, but the appointment is at lunchtime, so I hope it will be quieter.

I spent the rest of the day steam cleaning the floors, bathrooms and cooker. I felt quite virtuous and thoroughly exhausted..
Another couple of bags were also filled for the charity shop uplift on Thursday.
I am determined to streamline my clothing so that my children do not have to do it, when I am gone.

I wish you al a pleasant day and safe journey to all, who are travelling.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Lazy day spent at home with DD1, SIL and GS4. I think we have caught up on all the news. I have a dental appointment this afternoon for tooth that has decided to play up, I think the family may pop to Bluewater. DH is not good with the hot weather so I don’t think we shall go
Best wishes to all

latedecember1963 Tue 15-Jul-25 07:06:20

Good morning everyone from a cooler and cloudy Lancashire.

I have been reading each day, usually in the evening, but haven't had chance to post.
We've had some family upheaval in the last couple of weeks which has meant some major changes for DH and I but reading your news is a little bit of normality and at least we don't have serious health worries. Always something to be thankful for.

Take care everyone. 🌻

I had forgotten that it is St. Swithin’s day today. The received wisdom is that if it rains today, it will “rain for the next 40 days”…

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one! ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️
Although I believe that it represents a true reflection of weather patterns which our forefathers were familiar with while not necessarily understanding!
Good morning from N Bucks, sunny again but appreciably cooler.
I am popping over to catch up with youngest D’s in-laws this afternoon who live just 10 miles away. MIL is a wonderful baker so cake might feature…☺️☺️☺️☺️
With kind thoughts to all who are suffering in whatever way and wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a cloudy but warm part of La Sarthe.

Yesterday we enjoyed our excursion on a vintage train (1947) to a lakeside location where we enjoyed a walk around the brocante (much like a car boot sale) before having our picnic by the lake at Tuffé.

I’m glad your holiday has gone well, Ladyleftfieldlover. Our river trip, booked for next May, follows the same route in reverse!

The NI holiday sounds very appealing, Greyduster. My beloved father was from NI so I have fond memories of holidays there 60+ years ago!

I hope the rain soon reaches those parched places and better health where needed. Have a good day, everyone. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a bright, sunny but cooler S E Essex.

I have a hairdressers appointment at 9.30am, which means negotiating the absolutely dreadful traffic through Gingsters High St. (not my choice my lady had to alter my time)

Then I need to get organised as I am going down to stay at AS3’s for a week to teen sit whilst he and his wife go to Ibiza with friends, DH will stay home to be on hand with the local GC. So much for retirement…

Hopefully the weather will remain good, as I am looking forward to spending time in the beach and walks along the seafront (avoiding the main tourist middle part )

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

NannyJan53 Tue 15-Jul-25 06:45:13

Good morning from a much cooler Black Country , where it rained overnight, but not that much. So good to feel much cooler.

Shorter walk than normal yesterday as it was still so hot. It is odd our our weather can flip over and change overnight!

No real plans today. I normally go over to Mums on Tuesdays, but DB and SIL are going over to with lunch and take her food shopping. They live over an hours drive away near Worcester, so don't go over as often as myself.

Pleased you had a great holiday LLFL . It is always good to be back home though.

Still no Monk08 or have I missed her posts ? Hope she is ok

harrigran Tue 15-Jul-25 06:24:05

Good morning from north Wales where we have torrential rain.
Yesterday I stayed in the house because it was very windy, DS and DIL did some sightseeing.
Today the four teenagers are off to do activities, zip wire etc, the rest of us will be less active.
Have a good day.

karmalady Tue 15-Jul-25 06:22:13

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy and very windy today

I planted my baby brassicas onto my plot yesterday, including cavalo nero, a kale that keeps on giving, leaf by leaf. I cannot say that I like kale but c nero is nicest and is good for me

I will be pottering today, a bit of this and a bit of that, whatever I feel like doing, enjoying my cooler surroundings. I`ll also be finishing a quick poplin cotton top, I have made many in that pattern over the years, takes about 4 hours and is a stash buster. Ashton from Helen`s closet. Short sleeves, short length and great fit

I did order some linen trousers a couple of days ago, three pairs and different colours at a bargain price from lands end. Much too long but I can sort that. I am also looking forward to trying some natural face and body care from Edinburgh, that arrived yesterday. The packaging is lovely and the pampering will do me good

I do have plant pots to wash, I will do that, a job I do not like at all if I leave it to cold wet autumn days and perhaps a bit of a clean in my garage. I won`t be bored whatever

Have a good day

glammagran Tue 15-Jul-25 06:17:13

Good morning from a far cooler Wiltshire. Yesterday morning I woke up to 31°c as seen on the bedroom cooler fan display. The house bricks have really heated up like a storage heater so all windows were opened. Lots of garden plants are looking rather exhausted as a result of the heat despite copious watering.

At the weekend I was sitting under the canopy covering our outdoor seating area. I heard a seagull making a terrible commotion about 20 feet from the ground. When I stood up and looked up I saw it flying in circles being pursued by a sparrow hawk. It was a smallish gull, not a herring gull and it did get away.

After a dismal women’s tennis final lasting all of 57 minutes, the men’s final was a lot more exciting even if the lovely Carlos Alcaraz was beaten. British victory for the UK men’s doubles finals. 👏

Had a lovely time yesterday with DGD3 after school pickup. We played games and she drew an elaborate picture mainly featuring vampire bats and witches and a one eyed monster. She has a very fertile imagination.

Marydoll perhaps your church needs to install some cctv if items are being nicked from the premises. RosesansLilac I hope your rash is much improved.

Susan56 Tue 15-Jul-25 06:16:19

Good morning from Shropshire.A cooler start with rain forecast for much of the day.

I am meeting a friend I haven’t seen for 30 years for lunch which I am really looking forward to.Afterwards DH and I will visit mum.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

RosesandLilac Tue 15-Jul-25 06:13:27

Good morning from a cloudy and cool south Glos, thank goodness it’s more comfortable!
We took the dogs for a longer walk yesterday, so good to be able to do a decent distance in cooler conditions. The fields are looking parched, everything dusty, but the sunflowers are growing strongly in two spots, an amazing sight!
Like Sallyforth all the washing has been done, ironing too, so satisfying.
I do hope we get the forecasted rain today 🤞🏻, goodness knows we need it, we had a few spots yesterday.
I need to go to the village post office this morning so I’ll take tiddler and we’ll do a walk from there.
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Greyduster Tue 15-Jul-25 06:08:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Set to be a showery day on the Northern Irish coast. Yesterday we went to the Giant’s Causeway. It’s fifty two years since I was last there, when there was no impressive visitor centre and very few people. Yesterday it was thronged and there were buses constantly ferrying people up and down to the stones, but it was still impressive. We came back long the Causeway coast stopping to look at the spectacular views. Our plans here seem to be changing from one day to the next. I just go with the flow, but I’m seriously tired already and would love a day off to just do nothing much.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Kalu Tue 15-Jul-25 06:05:42

Good morning all. A lovely sunny morning in Glasgow but thankfully much cooler temperatures.

We had torrential rain yesterday morning followed by a warm sticky, dry afternoon. The garden is still a bit of a bomb site and looked a soggy mess after the heavy rain. I will just have to put up with it until it’s finished, hoping we don’t have too many wet days. Mostly good days with some down days which I just have to wait until the low mood passes seem to be the pattern of this new normal. Then two plants labelled blueberry I bought are in fact vines, not much use to me and I will change them at some point although the leaves are very pretty.

Wishing a pleasant day to all.

Sallyforth Tue 15-Jul-25 05:57:23

Good morning Mick and everyone from Cheshire. It's very cloudy here but blue sky in the distance to the west.

Had a restless night so it will be a slow start. Hopefully acupuncture later will help. I'll probably nod off in there with the relaxing music.

There's only one problem with being able to wash everything in sight in the sunny weather - ironing. It's a very satisfying thought though that absolutely everything which can be washed is clean.

As it's a lot cooler I will pop to Gemini to Ikea and M&S. I have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle that, but there are things I need for the house and for my holiday.

Wishing all a good day with special thoughts for those feeling unwell or sad. flowers

grandMattie Tue 15-Jul-25 05:36:01

Good morning from a grey Bristol. We are forecast rain today, but I’m not holding my breath.
My appointment went well; I was in and out like a dose of salt.
The consultant was charming, saying that he hadn’t been especially worried but wanted to see my growths in the flesh rather than in photos. They are are early BCC, still surface and only need cream applied. I’ll be seen again in 4 months.
I took one of several buses to the hospital. The return journey was not so easy. After waiting for about 25 minutes for two ghost buses, I decided I wasn’t going to wait for another. So I walked home, only a bit over one mile.
My shopping went well, I spent a fortune on baking stuff for Saturday, things like dates, lemons, golden syrup…
Today, I have to go to town to get SiL a birthday present for next Monday. He wants a 4 slice toaster!
Quiet day otherwise, getting ready for Wednesday’s shenanigans.
Love to all, especially MD and both FGTs, etc. virtual hugs. Enjoy the cooler weather.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning all from Cologne.

Back home today! We’ve had a lovely holiday but I always look forward to Home.

Have a good day everyone.
