Yes I'd read that .87 a good age..she can sing with the other stars in heaven

Yes I remember her from when I was very young and also Alma Cogan, Peggy Lee. I tend to have very strong vivid memories where music is concerned and can not only remember what she sang but see what she is wearing for specific songs, and used to sing them myself. Also the timbre of the voice, not just the actual words

Sad news, RIP Connie. She and Brenda Lee had great voices.

I always thought Alma Cogan (remember her?) was influenced by her.

She had a troubled life. I hadn’t realised until I read this article yesterday. Yet another performer who had a domineering and controlling father.

Yes, she was raped by a man who broke into her hotel bedroom after a performance.

thank you so sad i hope she is now at peace

She was very popular in the days when there were so many hits to play on the Jute box. Also, as someone mentioned, the lovely Teddy boys who used to come to where I lived. We had bingo along the. Coast when one could win great prizes and for me Saturday dancing Rock & Roll.
I suppose the negative side is hearing about so many young ladies giving birth when they had to have their babies adopted

I should describe that one as a “belter”

I’m Beginning To See The Light was my favourite.

RIP Connie.

I honestly thought she was much older than 87 and long gone. When we got our first radiogram in the 60’s Connie’s was one of the first LP records we had . I remember a particular song on it “My Wild Irish Rose” My Scottish Dad used to turn up the volume and throw his arms round my Irish Mum and sing along with it. If she was busy cooking she used to pretend she was annoyed and say to Dad “stop acting the eejit!

Sorry to hear she had died. I'm familiar with the name of course, but she wasn't my era, before the advent of The Beatles, musically and culturally everything was just a blur that went over my head. I only started appreciating Elvis years after he'd died.

I loved Connie Francis, that was my era, drinking coffee out of glass cups, bopping to her songs playing on the juke box, Lipstick on Your Collar, teddy boys, brothel creepers, drainpipe trousers, DAs , I loved it all, it was the best time to live. Now tell me how is it I can remember all the words to her songs but forget what I had for my supper yesterday 😥

Anniebach Thu 17-Jul-25 12:33:01

Who’s Sorry Now
Where The Boys Are
Stupid Cupid
Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool
Lipstick On Your Collar

and many more

RIP

Calendargirl Thu 17-Jul-25 12:21:52

Did she sing ‘Lipstick On Your Collar’ or was that someone else?

(Haven’t looked it up).

RIP.

DH loved Connie Francis and Brenda Lee.
I took a passing interest in her songs but they weren’t really my thing.
