Gds will be 9 on Monday and it’s supposed to be his birthday party tomorrow, in the local park, where he’s often had it before. But after hardly any rain for so long, it’s looking iffy for tomorrow, so they’re still dithering - possibly Sunday instead or leave it until early September.

They always invite the whole class, plus other friends, so I’m now waiting to see whether the usual 4 dozen chocolate cup/fairy cakes will be needed!

There are some very big trees under which the food is always laid out, but if it’s really raining hard….
It’s nearly always been hot for his party, and the trees have been needed for shade!

My GS likes to go swimming at his local lido on his birthday. He has a separate party for school friends, this is just a family thing.
The first year was bright warm sunshine, but the following was throwing it down with rain and cold!
We suggested alternatives but no he wanted to go to the lido and was convinced the sun would come out!
It didn't and we went and swam in the rain- at least we had the pool to ourselves!

We too have an outdoor event tomorrow. It starts at 7.00pm, so we are crossing our fingers and hoping the rain has eased by then as promised.

Such a shame when it's been so hot and dry. In N Surrey we are forecast thunder and lightning with showers so I would give tall trees a miss.

We were very lucky. It rained in the afternoon and it rained in the night but for the length of the performance and the picnc before hand it stayed dry.

We were at a birthday party in a park (average age 9) yesterday.
It would be funny if it was your DGS’s!

RosieandherMaw Oh I wonder if that's the lovely park my twin granddaughters have celebrated their birthday in. Lots of random other children came to join us last year attracted by the bubble machine we had going. Such fun, and such friendly people.
