Looks like we’re only going to miss it if we are in this white wedge. I am.

We’ve had steady rain since 10 am - the kind that is best for gardens as it’s got chance to soak into the ground rather than a sudden heavy downpour that just runs off and causes flooding problems. It’s set for the day and the next few days, which I’m pleased about. The smell when I went out earlier was glorious. I forget the special name, no doubt it will come back to me, but it’s that earthy smell you get when it begins to rain after days of dry weather. Another good thing is that it has stopped the flying ants - we were plagued with them yesterday.

I meant til we come home 🏠

Hasn’t stopped raining here in SE today. Yes it’s good, but why now, just as we are setting off for a couple of days by the seaside…. Thunderstorms and rain forecast for every day til we leave, when the sun returns.

My decision not to water my patio pots last night has been vindicated! This part of Berkshire has missed any rain that has fallen in surrounding areas. But it happened last night and is continuing with welcome showers - not for the avid cricketers in my family,

Light to moderate rain here and currently just a few spits and spots. Some has found its way into my water butt. However, it is probably the most we have had at any one time since May, and very welcome. Too late for some plants, unfortunately, which have died in spite of my efforts with buckets of "grey" water over the weeks of drought.

We have had considerable rain early last week ……..despite that the earth is still dry a few inches down and my onions lifted with very little effort.

Rain again a today and therefore won’t have to water peas and beans tonight.

May be raining (on and off) but STILL pretty damn humid. Bring on Autumn.

Casdon Sat 19-Jul-25 12:30:59

No rain here, my washing is out and I’ve been painting the fence this morning, it’s still very muggy. It does make a change for everybody else to have rain, but not mid Wales.

Zilch visibility driving down the M11 towards London - glad I'm not actually driving this is hard work - you can get too much of a good thing ⚡☔☔☔☔☔☔☔

Just started to rain here in Cheshire. It feels as though we’ve been living in a tepid soup for days so some real rain might relieve that, but hopefully not so much that anywhere gets flooded.

100% chance of rain at 10 am here in Berkshire we were promised. No sign of it though we did have a drop in the night.

WEEEEEE! I love rain! The heavier the better!

It was tipping it down by the truckfull this morning, and it was so great!

Can anyone hear the sound of marching feet?

Millions of slugs and snails.

Delighted to see the rain here in the south.
I feared we would miss out again as I thought we may be a bit too far west of the main predicted area in the south east but all’s well!
Been raining pretty heavily here since at least 6am and possibly earlier.

Doesn’t the air smell wonderfully fresh?
It’s still humid but definitely fresher.

More tomorrow and Monday too I believe.

Throwing it down here. I can almost hear the plants drinking it thirstily.

YorkLady

Had a good hour of torrential rain last night.
It’s started again around 10am and it will last all day, according to the forecast. Am very happy about it but have to take the dog out anytime soon. 😂☔️☔️

Happily set off with the dog a while ago, but we are both now sitting at home drying off.

What I would like is more sunshine! wink
