Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire. We had fantastic thunderstorms last evening and some rain overnight.

I need to try to find my desk today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s wet and cool this morning, the gardens are certainly getting a good soaking now. Yesterday morning was also wet but it did dry up for a few hours later in the day. DD1 and family called in for a snack lunch in between the grandchildren’s swimming and riding lessons. My son in law put up some new curtains in the dining room, they’d been sitting on a chair for about a month! I’m pleased with them, just need to decide what to do with the old ones!
I hope your hospital visit goes well today mick.
bellasnana a sad day for you, I’m sure your family will be comforted by your presence. glammagran we used to go to a lot of air shows but didn’t get to Fairford unfortunately. I love the noisy jets.

Not sure what to do today, some tidying up is needed if I can get myself motivated to do it. I’ll see if I can do a little gardening if it stops raining, I can see the weeds growing already!

Thinking of those with mountains to climb, and in particular the fgts.
Have the best day possible everyone, whatever you are doing today.

Good morning all and it’s just stopped raining here in Essex. We’re due for more later. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Yesterday we watched The golf for most of the day. Dh stuck to his chair and me dipping in and out.
DS1 popped in and that was our day, apart from a couple of dog walks.

Housework today and I’ll read my book. Like you Rosesandlilac I can’t settle to anything. Not sure why! I’ve started two or three books lately but quickly lose concentration.

Hope all goes well today Bellasnanna. 💐.

Take care 🌼

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast.
Hope all goes well with your appointment Mick.
I had a restless night, punctuated by my cat kneading me. More mind reading on my part, food? Go out? etc.etc.

Flying DD in the south undergoing her annual exams and she’s coming up at the end of the week.
I’m going into the city to an immersive Monet exhibition with pianist friend. I saw the Van Gogh last year and not too impressed, but he has never been to one and fancies it, so it’s a day out.

Special thoughts to Bellasnana and hope you all have a good day🌺
Card I painted.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, but thundery showers are forecast.

Yesterday we had bits and bobs of sunshine, but frequent very heavy thunder-storms so I did not venture out. Read the papers, did the puzzle pages, and spent the afternoon watching Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. Decided to re-read Persuasion.

Yoga first thing then coffee afterwards. The bathrooms to thoroughly clean today; am trying to get into the routine of doing them when I get back from yoga.

Wishing all a pleasant day and will be thinking of Bellasnana.

Good morning everfrom Inverness, it’s still grey and damp here but hoping the sun shines later
Hoping everything goes ok today Bellas.
We’ve DGS here, he stayed over last night at the last minute as DGD hasn’t been too well and DD took her to an out of hours GP appt. Hopefully she’ll be a bit better today. His dad will pick him up at lunchtime and then I’ve a dentist check up this afternoon. I’ll reward myself with a coffee in town afterwards
Thank you Ash
Thinking of everwith worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a very grey and miserable looking morning in North Yorkshire.
Not actually raining yet but looking ready to start if I even think of putting washing out!!

I am a little better this morning, but still physically creaking a great deal especially back and knees. Annoyingly dropping off to sleep at weird and wonderful times and feeling hungry at 4am etc, but hope it will settle down a bit more in the next few days.Yesterday felt as though I was working whilst dragging a heavy weight behind me!! Trying to think and act in a logical manner was difficult!! However by the end of the day I had put the final load (hopefully!) of washing in, emptied the case and put things away and returned the case with thanks to my friend. I went down to Thirsk to get the car fuelled up at Tesco's - wave my disabled badge and they come out and fill it for me - dont know why but standing still filling the car is very painful for my back. Yesterday I was so creaky that they had got the car done and dusted before I even struggled in to pay and get the paper etc. Then went into the store, where thank heavens they had the disability scooter working. So was able to get a couple of days worth of food etc and also some lovely sunflowers. They were a gift to the lovely lady who came to my rescue to take me home from the railway station. My friend Nichola had tried every taxi firm possible but as it was arriving about 3pm all the taxi s were on school runs , and so bless her mum , who left what she was doing to come and get me home. Called in on my way back from shopping and she was delighted with them.

Then had been plodding at snails pace through jobs and letters etc etc. So now even if the weather turns worse I am going out for the day! I have done enough here for a while and tomorrow have someone coming, and need to get the plumber round. My operation is set for a week tomorrow, but I will need to have stopped coughing before then. Dont want to cancel, but if things dont improve by friday feel I shall have to ring them . The idea of someone with something sharp near my eye and me suddenly coughing doesnt bear thinking about!!

So I am not decided whether to go to the coast or up my beloved Swaledale. Either way will restore me mentally, and I shall take a sandwich and coffee and my binoculars and with radio 3 to cheer me on the road I shall hopefully return refreshed and calm and ready to cope with the next week or two. I think it is that animal instinct when you have been away to have a wander round your patch and check it out etc.
So it will be chucking coat, mac boots suncream and whatever else I find to cover all eventuallities. Just lovely to have no timetable or need to be anywhere at a specific time.

Do hope that you r cardiac appointment goes well Mick, and you enjoy your trip on the bus and meet some friends on the way. Bellasnana hope that the day goes as well as can be expected. It does feel good to be back on here and catching up with everyones doings. Hope that today goes well for everyone. Just improved the morning here as have just had BACH befor 7, which always lifts my spirits. So now to get the coffee on and find something to make a sandwich with etc. I am rusty now about what I need in my box for picnics etc and no doubt will find I have forgotten something of importance but who cares? I might even rise to the excitement of fish and chips to eat out of the paper!!

Kalu Mon 21-Jul-25 06:59:39

Good morning all. Soggy, overcast and warm is today’s forecast for Glasgow. Perfect snail and slug weather!

Yet again, no plans for today but as the to do list is never ending, I can pick and choose at will.

Hope you see signs of improvement back to good health today Grandmabatty

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

karmalady Mon 21-Jul-25 06:52:04

Good morning from cloudy and bright s somerset, some rain yesterday and perhaps a bit more rain later

My aches were still with me yesterday so I did not do anything much, apart from concentrating on healing. I did read my magimix instruction book again, having had my processor for several years after giving my previous, bigger, magimix away

I have been using the grating/slicing discs wrongly, all this time, always getting chunks into the bowl. I should have been using the midi bowl not the big bowl. I tried it last night and it was 100%, truly you live and learn. I shredded mushroom, kohlrabbi, frozen cheese and carrot. All I have to do today is add an egg to make two mini rolled omelettes

The house is clean and my aches have gone, so I am a free spirit again today, I want to do a cycle ride and later on will have to do an allotment run, to empty more big trugs. I did lop half of a big heavy swaying branch yesterday, on a crab apple tree, as the branch would have eventually ripped off the tree. That part is now cut up for allotment compost. I will deal with the remaining thicker branch during winter, it needs a saw

Bellasnana, I wish you well today and hope that there will be a closure so that your life can move on and you can be happy again

I am truly grateful for the gentle rain yesterday, it means that my area will be green again

Have a good day

harrigran Mon 21-Jul-25 06:45:48

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
We did have some sunny spells yesterday so I did get into the garden and removed some weeds. My patio had a lot of palm leaves from the neighbour's tree which needed collecting and I dead headed the geraniums.
Rest of the day was spent binge watching a TV series and reading my book.
Nothing of note today just a little housework.
Thoughts are with Bellasnana.

Grammaretto Mon 21-Jul-25 06:45:07

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A hot, sunny visit and picnic at little sparta yesterday. We had just got home when the heavens opened! Lightning, thunder, the lot.
The rain was here in case you wondered 🌧

I shall drive my cousin to the airport early and then see if today's U3A walk is on or off.
I shall miss her. It's been like a holiday for me with all the day trips, party, socialising and eating out! She'll come next year again, I hope.

Bellasnanna I hope today goes well.
A small nuisance Sallyforth but annoying nonetheless.

Have a good day everyone,

Yogaknit Mon 21-Jul-25 06:43:54

Good morning from Kent where it is raining heavily. I won't be going outside just yet!
A quiet day planned for today. While Mr Yogaknit goes to his stretch class I will take the opportunity to sew up at least one knitting project.
Best wishes to all.

glammagran Mon 21-Jul-25 06:33:24

Good morning from a dull Wiltshire

We went to the Air Tatoo at Fairford yesterday. I could scarcely hear when we got home which is probably not good but I do enjoy the incredible sound from the Typhoon and other similar jets. It’s so loud the ground actually shakes. The Red Arrows and similar Italian team gave terrific displays. However, the best team I’ve ever seen were the South Korean aerobatics team in 2022. We had 2 heavy showers during the day (we were prepared) but hardly the monsoon conditions we’d been forecast.

On Saturday we went to visit DD2 and family in the garden. DGS2 who was 4 in April now takes the same size shoe as his sister who will be 7 at the end of August. She is dinky and already you can see he will have the same muscular build like his dad though both are slim. He’ll catch up DGS1 who is 10 years older but also fairly slight though quite tall.

Blossoming I can relate to your bedding changing battles. Why on earth do manufacturers make fitted sheets so tight you can hardly attach them to the mattress. DH usually does the bedding as I often just can’t.

Nice you are back Madeleine Your name is the same as my DD2. Where did you go on holiday?

I hope you can enjoy your visit to the U.K. Bellasnana despite the sadness you are contending with.

Grandmabatty I’m so sorry you didn’t get the most out of your holiday if you were ill. Over the years I’ve had good poisoning on at least half a dozen occasions while on holiday.

Have a good Monday everyone.

grandMattie Mon 21-Jul-25 06:32:01

Rain, bellasnana”. In SE Kent (my old stamping ground)? I used to say it was the Gobi desert of the uk, as we had so little rain…
Sad circumstances and it is kind of you for the support of your nephews and niece.
Hugs 🫂🌷

cornergran Mon 21-Jul-25 06:31:02

Sorry Mick meant to wish you well for todays appointment. Hope there’s a positive outcome.

cornergran Mon 21-Jul-25 06:29:38

Morning Mick, morning All from a fresher corner of Somerset.

Steady rain for several hours and one heavy downpour dampened things nicely yesterday. We’re forecast several days of showers and much lower temperatures.

Pottered around indoors yesterday, it will be the same today along with some much needed dust removal .

All was quiet yesterday evening until Mr C knocked his untouched glass of red wine over. A frantic hour followed, thanks to the nature of the modern carpet and our carpet cleaning machine not a sign is left this morning. It did rather raise the blood pressure for a while though. Mr C isn’t having the best time lately, I’m sure things will settle - soon I hope.

An emotional day ahead bellasnana. I’m sure your family will value your presence. Goodness grandmattie, you’re busy again. I’d happily swap some of our rain for your energy.

Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Jul-25 06:29:27

Good morning from an exceptionally wet Essex coast, it has been raining heavily for the last 3 + hours it is tapering off a tad, but we are now waiting for thunderstorms. I cannot see my walk along the sea happening today.

Not sure what I shall do, the teens are busy with work experience and gym first thing.

Thinking of you on this difficult day Bellasnana 🌸

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Mon 21-Jul-25 06:24:14

Morning from a dry for now S Hants, we have rain due.
My best wishes for today Bellasnana
I hope your appointment is on time and all goes well Mick
Yesterday was in and out of visitors for MrJ’s birthday, roast dinner went down well.
Today is voluntary phone, physio at 2 for a creaking knee and quiz tonight.

Good morning from Ramsgate where it has rained all night and it looks as though it is going to carry on for much of the day.

The noisy seagulls woke me up although I must say I have slept better here than at home.

Thank you for your kind thoughts Ashcombe, it is not going to be an easy day but I hope I can be some support to my three nephews and niece who have now lost both parents.

I hope Grandmabatty is feeling better. So sorry to hear she was unwell on holiday, it’s such a pity.💐

As usual I don’t know how you pack so much into your days grandMattie. It sounds exhausting but I know you like to be busy.

We have to be at the crematorium at 9.30 so I will have to think about getting up and nabbing the bathroom before everyone else surfaces.

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Sallyforth Mon 21-Jul-25 05:56:20

Good morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy morning in Cheshire. Last night's thunderstorm cleared the air and it's 13C and nice and fresh this morning.

Hope all goes well today Mick.

I recently claimed on my insurance for the loss of a beautiful ring. A jeweller came to my home and I selected a ring. He measured my ring finger. It arrived special delivery, great excitement - it's gorgeous BUT too small! It will only fit my little finger. So yes, fuss and faff to call them and return it today, but small inconvenience compared to what some people face today. Get a grip Sally.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts for those with struggles. Hope you have a better day. flowers

RosesandLilac Mon 21-Jul-25 05:51:18

Good morning from a cooler hillside in south Glos where we had some much welcomed downpours yesterday morning 👏
I don’t think there’s any more forecast for the next 10 days unfortunately.
I will do a bit in the garden today as it’s cooler, mainly cutting back spent plants and scattering the seeds around from my foxgloves and nigella, two of my favourite flowers.
I am feeling restless, no idea why, it’s unusual for me. I can’t settle to doing anything at the moment. It’ll pass I’m sure so pootling is the order of the day for me.

Wishing you all a good day 🌹

Ashcombe Mon 21-Jul-25 05:42:20

Forgot to add: 🦩🥰🇫🇷💐🦩‼️

Ashcombe Mon 21-Jul-25 05:40:34

Good morning from a dull but slightly damp morning here in La Sarthe.

DH has booked a local artisan to do some work on the upstairs windows. He’s already taken away the shutters to repair and stain at his place and is due back today. We need to be up earlier than usual although the threat of rain may deter him.

I hope your cardiac appointment goes well, Mick.

Thinking of Bellasnana.

So sorry to read of your accident, brook. I've had two rear end shunts in the past, both of which took several weeks to sort out so I’m glad to hear that you are entitled to a courtesy car. They do leave you feeling shaken.

Hope you’ve fully recovered from your hectic time on Saturday, grandMattie. I’m in awe of your energy and commitment besides your baking skills!

A good week to all.

grandMattie Mon 21-Jul-25 05:34:59

Good morning from a clear Bristol. No rain yesterday - so much for the forecast floods!
All the best today, Mick.
I had a quiet day, yesterday after church. I did my best to thank my peerless helpers. An interesting recurring comment was my absolute insistence on not allowing servers to handle cash, as I deem it unhygienic!
The vicar told me that he’d taken the decision to sell marmalade, etc. it was very successful, but, rats, it means that my stock is down to almost nothing. Must make more (using tins)…
After shopping this morning, I’ve got WI this afternoon and more marmalade after that.
I must check with DS if he’s visiting tomorrow, so I can ask him to take the heavy jars to church for me, otherwise I carry them in my trolley.
I hope all is going well for everyone ATM. Don’t forget that random act of kindness.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩
