Like Usedtobeblonde as a child, probably about 9/10 I also saw the Queen's wedding dress. I would like to see it again as an adult to appreciate its beauty.
Princess Beatrice wore an evening dress belonging to the late Queen . It was designed by Norman Hartnell in 1962 Sleeves were added as it was considered unsuitable to wear an sleeveless gown to church . Some alterations were done to the hem though Princess Beatrice and Queen Elizabeth are of a similar height . I admire the economy ,but I don't think that it was successful . I'd like to see Queen Elizabeth's gown. I love the exquisite embroidery ,but have always thought it over elaborate and prefer plainer styles .
My mother went to see the wedding dress on tour and said she found it disappointing. I’m not sure what she expected as it looks gorgeous in the photograph here. The late Queen had a lovely figure and being flat chested myself, I envied her curves.
Remembering that it was during clothing coupon rationing, I believe that she was trying for a balance between regal and constraint
Apparently it will be on show at Buckingham palace next summer. Beatrice wore it at her wedding. She looked fabulous in it. Lovely tribute to her grandmother and our late Queen.

Doubt the style would be worn today. So many brides go for sleeveless, very low front often a gap down to the waist with boobs just about covered. Some even have corset style midrifts of lace with the "boning" showing through, a slit up to top of thigh and if course tight fitting evetywhere I live near a very high class hotel and if out walking I almost close my eyes if I see a bride posing for photos. Give me Queen Elizabeth style anyday.
I am old enough to have seen the wedding dress when it went on tour after the wedding. It came to Nottingham and I know we had to queue to see it. I was 10. I can remember seeing it but no details of it remain with me.
Any idea where this will be held? I went to a lovely exhibition at the V&A some years ago featuring wedding dresses from history, royalty and celebrities.
There is going to be an exhibition of Queen. E lizabeth's clothes next year. Was looking at her wedding dress and not only is it fantastic it could be worn today - and I am not one for fancy clothes.
