Fair enough Casdon I was just sharing what (I thought) Iâd been asked to. What Iâd read?
I thought you were just answering another poster, Stripeygran so when you did as requested, she then asked after your health!
The US president said that a âhorrible invasionâ was taking place, adding it had to âstopâ, shortly after touching down on Air Force One at Glasgow Airport.
âAsked about illegal migration to Britain, Mr Trump said: âOn immigration you better get your act together or youâre not going to have Europe anymore.â
He continued: âYouâve got to stop this horrible invasion that is happening to Europe, many countries in Europe.â
âSome leaders have not let it happen, and theyâre not getting the proper credit... I could name them to you right now, but Iâm not going to embarrass the other ones. But stop, this immigration is killing Europe.â
Mr Trump, who has made border control a key priority of his presidency, said: âLast month we had nobody entering our country.â
Well done Trump. Heâs not wrong! đŹđ§

As it stands, itâs a case of all mouth and no trousers.

Immigration protests are getting very nasty in Poland.

Blow for Ireland as Trump rules out pharma deal
Donald Trump insisted âpharmaceuticals wonât be a part ofâ any trade deal today with the EU.
That is particularly bad news for Ireland, which exported just shy of âŹ100bn of medical and pharmaceutical goods last year, much of it to the critical American market. Sales to the US boomed further in the early months of this year as importers sought to bring in supplies before border taxes came in.
The worldâs biggest pharma companies, including Pfizer, Novartis and AstraZeneca all have major operations in the country. The Trump administration has argued that low taxes and incentives to invest in Ireland have unfairly pulled research and development as well as manufacturing out of the US and into the Celtic nation.
The presence of major multinationals in Ireland has helped transform its economy, and to deliver an extraordinary boost to its public finances - which may be at risk if the US President finds ways to force companies, workers and factories to move across the Atlantic.
Mr Trump said there is a 50-50 chance of a trade deal with the EU, but said âpharmaceuticals wonât be a part of it.â
âWe have to have them made in the US, we want them made in the US. Pharmaceuticals are very special,â he said.
âWe canât be in a position where we are relying on other countries. Europe is going to make pharmaceuticals, drugs and everything else for us too, a lot, but we are going to make our own.â
Source the Telegraph latest just now.
That actually means nothing much in reality though, does it FriedGreenTomatoes2? Ireland manufactures drugs for a much wider client base than the US, and Trump hasnât struck any deals to have anything manufactured in the USA. There was no announcement today. As it stands, itâs a case of all mouth and no trousers.
I donât understand why someone is so âpatrioticâ is so pleased to see an American president shaft the UK and Ireland in every way possible.
??
Sorry I have no idea what you mean StripeyGran.
Have I offended you in some way?
Seriously, what is wrong with you?

Heâs with Ursula vd Leyen at present. A press conference. But he wants pharmaceuticals back in the USA. The Republic of Ireland will take a huge hit.
Nothing about pharmaceuticals has been announced that Iâve seen, it looks a reasonable deal from Europeâs perspective, given energy and defence are both priorities.

I can only assume Trump's ranting is connected to colour.
There seems no other logical explanation.
smallday The Musee Jean Moulin is a case in point.
No, he rants about anyone he thinks is either not giving him something he wants or who is getting something that he doesn't want to lose the chance of keeping to himself.
That includes everything from women who don't fancy him, anyone who doesn't brown-nose him but points out his shortcomings instead, people who are not well enough to work so are supported by government funds that he thinks all belong to him,, veterans who are getting praise for fighting for their country while he had "bone spurs", and his predecessors in office as POTUS who were admired more than he is, to countries which refuse to sell themselves or their assets to him cheaply and expect him to honour his previous agreements. To name but a few.

Haven't read all the posts, but as a climate change denier with the slogan "Burn, baby, burn" where does Trump expect people from africa to go when his policies have led to their own homeland becoming uninhabitable?
Actually take back the reference to H...just very shocked by how, as in the 30's things can change so quickly. It is frightening.
Yes...we need to do something about immigration. No we don't need to follow in the footsteps of this racist self serving self satisfying thug who has done more to destabilise the world economy and to endanger our selves and the futures of our children than anyone since ...Imv...Hitler. Just back from Prague. A visit to the communist museum there revealed in a very frightening manner how fragile our democratic processes are and how easily they can be overturned. And now we have a self serving convicted millionaire supporting the invasion of Ukraine...allowing genocide in Gaza...and basically rewiting the rule book for democracy in the USA. He.may have a point. But its a skewed view from a dictator...and we should all call it and him out.

There were protests in Scotland, some choose not to believe that. As they also believe there is a lot of support for this sad sample of humanity.
His numbers on various subjects are under water, as the Americans say.
All you have to do is look at wider news sources. Look at you tube, for example, to see clips of demonstrators in Scotland.
There are more protests planned now Swinney is giving him ÂŁ180K of tax payers money. I am surprised it's such a paltry amount.

He has been found guilty on all 34 counts in his porn star hush money case.
So, he is a convicted felon.

We didn't have a civil war, with neighbours raping and looting and murdering. There were safe havens and more options as we had allies and our enemies were abroad.
I'm not minimising anything, but the situation was different than those in many areas of the world today.
Yes and many of there near neighbours are not war torn.

No wars in Karachi, Pakistan India, plenty more,
So why pay thousands to smugglers to come to UK.
As someone in Washington said

Not clear why a foreign convicted felon, rapist and alleged paedophile should be given approval by a threadâs headlines?
I can think of all sorts of people who might make the same argument and who have a much higher moral standing.
Although quite difficult to have a lower one frankly.
Try raising your eyes higher. Would you trust him around your teenage daughter? You donât know that for sure that heâs a paedo, or rapist!
The word alleged gives you a clue.
So "alleged" means guilty now.
Glad I don't live in your circle.
In my book proven = guilty.

It would appear that Melania was in the US legally
How strange! That you could can be in a country legally but not able to work.
Strange rule.I hope that was irony.
To clarify :
is perfectly normal across the world, including UK. Countless tourists, students, even asylum seekers, are legally in the country (with their passport) but unable to work because their visa doesn't permit it.
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/right-to-work-in-the-uk/check-if-you-have-the-right-to-work-in-the-uk/
Sigh.
Oh gosh, you could be right - she worked for five weeks, modelling, on a visitor visa before her work Visa was issued!
