It meant little, but calling posters racist is on a whole different level of unpleasantness.
Feeling like im on the slippery slope!!!
The US president said that a āhorrible invasionā was taking place, adding it had to āstopā, shortly after touching down on Air Force One at Glasgow Airport.
āAsked about illegal migration to Britain, Mr Trump said: āOn immigration you better get your act together or youāre not going to have Europe anymore.ā
He continued: āYouāve got to stop this horrible invasion that is happening to Europe, many countries in Europe.ā
āSome leaders have not let it happen, and theyāre not getting the proper credit... I could name them to you right now, but Iām not going to embarrass the other ones. But stop, this immigration is killing Europe.ā
Mr Trump, who has made border control a key priority of his presidency, said: āLast month we had nobody entering our country.ā
Well done Trump. Heās not wrong! š¬š§

The term āracistā has now been rendered meaningless on forums, as it usually means that a poster disagrees with another poster on either legal or in this case illegal migration.
Similarly the terms āvirtue signalā and āmisplaced do-gooderā.
Not to mention Deliveroo!

Rather a misplaced do-gooder than a racist!
What a thoroughly unpleasant post Lizziedrip. This is the first time in ten years on GN that I've actually seen anyone being called a racist - not good š¢
Oh, I've seen it used previously, Spinnaker, when posters can offer no considered response.

If immigrants to any European country really were true asylum seekers then they would be happy to settle in safety and not commit crimes and hurt the very countries that gave them sanctuary.Certainly many countries are finding this out now.
Certainly, decent, hardworking immigrants, too, are totally fed up with the immigrants who form the criminal gangs running illegal vape and tobacco shops, employing illegal immigrants and , threatening anyone who may challenge them
One man from Hong Kong says he is thinking of taking his family back to HK because the situation is so bad here.
Unfortunately, Trading Standards have limited powers, can shut down these shops for a few months, only for them to open up again.
Yes, along with the many nail bars and so called Turkish barber shops run as money laundering outfits. There are raids to oust them but others seem to pop up like mushrooms.

I think the thread has moved on from what Trump says.We prefer what our own leaders say generally speaking.
Our own leaders/ government are having a hard time stopping the constant daily flow of small boats arriving from French shores and appear helpless in the face of it.
All the rhetoric from Labour last year about āsmashing the gangsā was just that, talk only.
Itās a European problem and will only be solved by European co-operation.
The US president said that a āhorrible invasionā was taking place
Exactly what the majority of Scots felt about Trump arriving in Scotland judging by the brilliant posters the had!
I don't want them in my home. The same applies to bagpipe players
I'd happily host the bagpipe player who drowned out Trump in Scotland.
Can't believe anybody takes any notice of what Trump says or thinks anything he says is well informed. He talks in sound bites and its populist claptrap.
The man is vile. A predator. A convicted felon. An inciter of riots and a self serving dishonest 'businessman' who worships wealth above all else.
He is the child of an immigrant. His wife is an immigrant. How easily people forget the storming of the Capitol and the death of a police officer defending it. He encouraged that and then pardoned the offenders. He was friends of Epstein and well immersed in the 'goings on'. He is deporting black and brown people from the US while importing white South Africans - wonder why? He has humiliated world leaders who visited him in the White House for TV entertainment and has appointed 'flat earthers' and anti vaccine people to oversee Healthcare. His attitude to women is abhorrent. Everybody who speaks against him is 'nasty' - from the Minister at his inauguration to Sadiq Khan and so many in between: I believe 12 in total. He's threatened to take over Canada, Greenland, Gaza and clearly thinks he should have everywhere he plants his feet!
Listen to Trump? You'd have to be deranged.

Iām happy as I am, donāt need you to tell me what I ācould simply beā thanks.
Iāll take the āmisplaced do-gooderā label; Iāll leave the racist label to others - of which there are many.
The accusations of racism are uncalled for and becoming tiresome.
It detracts from sensible discussion.

It seems I do need to tell you, or somebody does, as you fail to see a problem for society here or in the many other European countries.
Even the liberal Scandi countries now have awful problems with gang related crime at sky high levels since they accepted large numbers of immigrants.
Maybe do some reading up on this subject.

You could simply be, as the majority of people in this country, including our government, very very concerned at having undocumented men from all over the world turning up here asking to stay and having to spend billions on taking care of them.

Perhaps if not a room, offer to sponsor one. Befriend them. Have them as an extended family member rather like exchange students. Pop round for a meal, get them integrated into the British way of life. Hmmm.
No? I thought not.refugeesathome.org/

How's it working out, StripeyGran?
We have had posters on here who hosted Ukrainian families, some positive posts, some not.

That would at least mean that the host country, in this case France would pay/ house them prior to us granting or not granting asylum here.
Would France be prepared to do that I wonder.
Someone said to me recently, in real life, that illegal[not sure how illegal is classed in the US], immigrants coming in from Mexico have been stopped as Trump increased, or was it lowered, trade tariifs.
Not sure how true that is.
If true, then in theory at least, Sir Kier could do that to France.
