Good morning all from an overcast but sticky North Leicestershire.

We went to a 'new to us' cinema yesterday and watched 'The Ballad of Wallis Island'. We thoroughly enjoyed the film and the cinema was lovely. And, there was a car park right outside.

Not a lot happening today - just a walk into the village to the shops.

Have the best day possible all.

Good morning all from a bright day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve had a really good sleep and only just wakened up with someone walking by and my ring doorbell going off.

The weathers all over the place these days, it’s either warm, cold or pouring with rain. it was pouring for my annual BBQ but we always say here in Fife rain, hail or snow the show must go on. Its going to be 2 rashers of bacon and scrambled egg for breakfast I’ve got a lovely carer coming in to make it for me. I’m more fortunate than many others.

Have a good day my friends take care of each other 💐💐

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 14° so far.
A very nice outing yesterday to a textile exhibition in Peebles. Such imaginative and skilled stitchers.

My friend joined us for my regular dinner party. We sat at the window and watched a young deer demolishing the flowerbed where I had been going to plant the hydrangea. My friend was thrilled by the deer 🦌
Today more removing clutter from the hall. I will probably have to start showing prospective tenants round soon as my advert goes live.

Have a lovely holiday Sallyforth

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
I slept a full eight hours which was good after the previous night when I did not sleep at all.
I don't think DS and family will be visiting as DIL is looking for a new car and is dependent on DS to transport her around as GD has borrowed her mum's car.
Nothing planned for today so will do some reading.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where today looks to be cloudy low 20’s. Nothing much happening or planned here as DH now has my cold. I think we will batton down the hatches and stay home.

Hope everyone has a good day.

brook2704 Sat 26-Jul-25 07:37:15

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a cloudy start to the day
Hope you feel better as the day goes on Uttb
Today we’ve got some grocery shopping and the usual housework to do, a bit of gardening too. DH wants to get the garage doors painted so hope it’ll stay dry to get that job done.
Lovely pictures NannyJan thanks for sharing
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a so far still grey morning in North Yorkshire. Not sure how the weather will go as we have been promised both sunshine and hefty showers. Actually will be quite happy if it stays a bit greyer and cooler right now as am preparing for quite a journey right now to meet the family.

So excited about seeing them, as for various reasons we did not get together for quite a while before I went on holiday , so much to catch up on. I have taken a lot of photos on my trip, but as I had to get a new phone only a couple of weeks before I went - the old one got broken - I have had to guess and do my best with the new one. I dislike changing to something new, when I have been quite competent and organised with the old one and know what I am doing, so until this one becomes familiar I keep getting annoyed with it, especially as it seems to have a mind of its own and cuts off much quicker than the old one.

Anyway the photos are a mix. Some are simply catching the moment for myself, others are to be able to show people when I am giving a talk about things, such as the picture of the Mennonite people, where a simple photo will make things very obvious, much quicker than trying to describe them. Then I have taken quite a lot of both photos and videos of the many things like the freight trains, the enormous lorries with gleaming chimneys etc etc and the great big bus thing with enormous wheels - taller than I am, which took us down a 30% incline onto the glacier. Of course there are a couple of the Rocky Mountain express. These are all taken for my grandson Joshua. Because this phone is new, I am taking it with me, so that my son can safely transfer the pictures for Joshua etc., and I wont risk losing precious pictures that I cant get back.

So am preparing my "cordon bleu" breakfast of weetabix and coffee - whilst starting to get the car sorted into my summer mode. I still do the same as when I used to take people on the hospital car service. I have two boxes in the boot. One of all the sensible bits and pieces, first aid stuff etc., and a light blanket, spare towel etc, bottles of water and swimming things. Then the other box will have my picnic things. Plates, dishes etc ., I use one of those childrens lunch box things to have my selection of cutlery, bottle openers , cork screws, sharp knives etc etc. Then the important things, cafetiere, china mugs, thermos coffee etc etc, so that on my trip across I shall stop where it pleases me and be able to make myself a much needed coffee and enjoy the peace and quiet with my binoculars. So back into the pattern of "be prepared" or as we say round here "short of nowt I've got!! "(I was a guide and then a brownie guider in Portugal!

As they live over in Lancashire ,today we are going to meet at Killington Lake mway service station on the M6. It works out very well for us. I have my blue badge and can park near the coffee shop. They can arrive whenever and they have 2 hours free parking. So we then meet and have a seat looking over the lake, and usually a quiet area, with few other people about. We just get a drink and then have a good time to sit and catch up with all the news etc, a very useful place to meet the week before christmas - when every where is heaving in towns but safe place for us to meet. So it will depend on whatever they have to do today. We may just sit and chat and then go off our separate ways. I go across to Sedberg and then down the mway to the service place. Then continue down to the next exit which is to Kendal or to Kirby Lonsdale and carry on wherever from there. If they are free to stay a bit longer we go down to that exit and then can go on into the Lake district or whatever.

So I am looking forward to seeing them, but hope that my leg is not going to be a problem. Yesterday after what seemed for ever, I did get to see a doctor. Because I had had a long flight she thought it was cellulitis but did have to check for DVT so had to have a blood test and wait for quite a while for that to be checked out. No problem, as I thought, but definitely have flipping cellulitis again. So now have antibiotics etc, and need to keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, or doesnt actually begin to get better in 48 hours have to go back. Drat and double drat!! Cough is not so bad today so fingers crossed that I can go for my cataract operation on tuesday. If it aint one thing its another!! Still waking up a lot and at 4am my stomach seems to want breakfast!! Trying to get back into at least a pattern of 6am to get up.

Yesterday Jessie came and made a good inroad into the mess in the flat. So there is still plenty to sort out, but the kitchen and bathroom are clean enough to allow a visitor to use, the lovely clean sheets are on the bed and the mattress turned over and have quite a bit of ironing done , so actually have a choice of T shirt now. It is good to see some things getting sorted, but whilst I do want to get back to normal, trips out to local agricultural shows or to Saltburn come well above jobs. I try to pretend that it is everlasting summer, but cannot ignore the fact that it is already getting darker earlier in the evening. So another reason to enjoy the countryside and coast while I can.

So that is my plan for today and hopefully tomorrow I will have the chance to go and visit a garden from the yellow book , buy some plants , as now am home to plant them and look after them. I shall get out the Yellow Peril and enjoy the wind in my face as I go around.

Hope that you all have successful days today and enjoy yourselves whether that is finally getting some job sorted or putting on the sun hat and sitting out in the garden all day. With a bit of luck, the promised showers will water the garden here, whilst I have sunny vistas on my journey.
Enjoy whatever you do folks

Good morning from an overcast Lancashire.
DD arrived late last night as she worked late and got the 8pm train back which was delayed and standing room only.
DH took pity on her and went into Manchester to collect her as we didn't fancy her having to make her way home from there after she'd had a long day.
Today she's taking part in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament so we won't have chance to have a proper catch up until this evening.

I haven't decided on my day yet, but DH has the annual draft with his fantasy football pals.

Thankyou for sharing your wedding photo, Rosieandhermaw. Beautiful memories.

Wishing everyone a good day. 🌻

Good morning from a dull but still warm Black Country.

Very sunny walk with u3a walking group yesterday. Along the Staffs Railway walk then onto the canal and Bratch Locks. Coffee in the old railway cafe afterwards.

MrJ was cutting back shrubs etc in the afternoon, so helped picking up and putting in the garden waste bin.

Mackerel BBQ's last night, sitting out in the garden until almost 10pm.

DB, SIL & Niece are popping over for lunch today as they have an appointment here. Then over to Mums as my Niece wants to see Nan, as living in London she doesn't see her so often.

Wishing you the best day possible.

Morning all from a seemingly warm West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was fun, but exhausting. Collected newly framed small oil painting, listened to an Art Society talk on Henry VIII’s Cloth of Gold thing, had a pedicure and facial wax, bought a new iPad cover and called in on friends.

I have no plans today. We have a busy week next week so it will be nice to ‘chill’ as they say.

Have a good day everyone. FGT2 must be looking forward to having her OH home.

Good morning from a dry and sunny mid Essex. Last night I noticed that one of the dahlias in the front garden was wilting so I’ll need to water today. I had a longer walk in the morning, did a load of washing & got it dry outside. Ironing today!
DD2 and family are on holiday on the north Norfolk coast, warm enough for a dip in the sea apparently!
DD1 may call in tomorrow but Saturdays are usually busy for them.
Enjoy your trip to the supermarkets ash I used to love the French supermarkets, so much more interesting than ours and with big fresh fruit and vegetable sections! All those lovely big tomatoes! It doesn’t take much to please me!

I hope you managed to keep your white trousers clean corner, disconcerting for you to be dripping blood! It happened to me the last time I had a blood test - I was actually out of the surgery building before I noticed, a bit scary for those in the waiting room!

Jaxjacky Sat 26-Jul-25 07:12:25

Morning, cloud and sun in S Hants, yesterday ended up very warm.
I’ve washing to do after I’ve been for the paper, I’ll pick up a bunch of sunflowers too, I do enjoy their cheery faces, I don’t like picking the ones in the garden.
Some light housework this afternoon and I’ll nip down to the sausage and cider festival in our local around tea time.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent, not sure it is going to last.
Yesterday we decided on a trip down memory lane and went to Hythe and Dymchurch. The sun was out and it was great to see the sea and even paddle a bit. I had a MD moment and bought an inexpensive but interesting dress and even did some Ch…..s shopping.
Today will be catching up and getting rid of more bags to the local charity shop
Very best wishes to all

Good Morning from the MS gulf coast. Yesterday I spent a happy hour out shopping, adding on to my stock of paints, & today I hope to start playing w/ them...but 1st I need to do a load of laundry, & bake a batch of crab rangoons.
Hope everyone has a bit of fun today!

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed volunteering in the surgery yesterday althihgh I did cause a bit of a stir after a routine blood test. Wandered back down and wondered why my fellow volunteer was pointing at me. Looked down to see blood running down my arm. By the time I made it across reception it was dripping off my fingers. What a mess. A nurse sorted me and cleared up the aftermath. My major concern was not to get blood on my only pair of white trousers. Priorities you understand. Other than a spectacular bruise no ill effects. Goodness knows what waiting patients thought though. The afternoon was spent peacefully enough trotting round Waitrose.

Not sure what today will bring. Had hoped for an early sea front hour, we’ll see what the sky does.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dampish Stockport.
A very disturbed night so I feel like a wrung out rag.
I just couldn’t get comfortable.
As my days are usually quiet today will be no exception.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Sat 26-Jul-25 06:23:02

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. Yesterday, at the gym, I ran into a chap I used to work with. I had seen him there before and failed to recognise him, and he’s not usually there on the days that I go. We had a good long chat on the exercise bikes😂 about family and former colleagues. It was nice to catch up.
In the afternoon, in the expectation that our road was going to be closed off, I went to the library on the bus. I’m so used to going over there in the car that when I was ready to come home I walked to the car park instead of the bus stop! When I got back here, all the resurfacing machinery was certainly in situ, but they had done nothing and then left again. We understand now that it will be Monday!
Not sure what is on the cards today except for a visit to Aldi for essentials. Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Sat 26-Jul-25 06:13:28

Good morning from cloudy s somerset

I was busy until 2 yesterday, just on the go until I had enough and then watched the duchess of duke street on youtube. Allotment first and I did water so carried lots of watering cans, transferred soil etc. Needless to say I now have the aches.

I made a supply of muesli, prefer to make my own as I know what is in it and followed that by making granola, in between washing was put out and seen to. Watering of tomatoes and squashes at home and lots of raspberries picked, bread made. It all takes time. I never bother with counting steps, no need, I know I do what I can and what my body tells me, hence the several hours of sitting reading and drinking tea

Upstairs at 8 to do a bit of happy sewing, only the two arm facings yesterday but good pressing and trimming as I go. I will do more of that today, I intend an easy day and no cycling until tomorrow, got to straighten my skeleton first and work on these aches

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Sat 26-Jul-25 06:13:15

Good morning, another fine day ahead for us here in south Glos.
I had a lovely morning at art group, lots of chatting too.
Nothing much planned for today or tomorrow, just the usual chores and walks with the dogs. It’s going to be warm so I will avoid being outside as much as possible as the rash keeps threatening to return despite factor 50 and long sleeves and covering my legs 😵‍💫🤬
Best wishes to everyone 🌹

Kalu Sat 26-Jul-25 06:10:18

Good morning all. Overcast to day in Glasgow.

A perfectly calm weekend ahead as work in the garden is finished and I can look forward to peaceful, uninterrupted mornings again. No plan for today yet, a pick and choose whatever I feel like doing with many options.

Best wishes to all, for a pleasant weekend.

JamesandJon33 Sat 26-Jul-25 05:39:45

Bore da from a gloomy SW Wales. I think it rained overnight. Birds are up and squawking
DH still asleep as we had a day of gardening yesterday.
Hope everyone’s everybody are fine, and I hope you and they have a lovely day.

Good morning from an overcast Bristol.
It won’t rain, so I watered my tiny flower bed and pots, again! They give me and my fellow residents a lot of pleasure.
I had quite a productive morning. I finished my pinafore dress (which I shall wear today), watered the flowerbed, washed and dried my towels.
I made a sort of parmigiana. Aubergine is one of my favourite vegetables, but it is enormous. I shall freeze at least 4 more portion, leaving one for tonight.
Hair salon went well. I was dreading one of my neighbour’s visit as she won’t let go the non/resident manager business. To my astonishment, she didn’t mention it - so I relaxed.
Just coffee and chat in church this morning. I’ll probably get on with my patchworking as well.
Hope all is well with FGT and Co. Hugs to those needing one.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Sallyforth Sat 26-Jul-25 05:39:22

Good morning Mick. from a grey, damp morning in Cheshire. Such a change after yesterday. I shall ignore the gloom and just get on with the day as it unfolds.

I have a busy day ahead. so just taking things easy for a while with tea and toast in bed. I must prepare for the builders coming next week to make changes to the front of the house. Lots of heavy lifting required, so a friend is coming to move furniture etc out of harms way. After all the planning and decisions it's suddenly going ahead sooner than I thought.

Then to the hairdresser so I look less like a scarecrow going on holiday for a few days tomorrow. I hope to be watching the Tour later too Mick.

Hope your day is a pleasant one. Kind thoughts to those of us with anxiety and sadness. flowers

Good morning from a warm and sunny start in La Sarthe.

A beautiful wedding photo, RosieandherMaw yesterday. Thank you for sharing. 💐

A trip to Lidl and Super U is planned, probably late morning as we find the shops are quieter around lunchtime here.

Happy weekend, whatever you’re up to! 🦩💐🇫🇷🥰🦩
