Perfect weather of the last but one stage of the T de F- dropped the GCs to watch the arrival- a perfect racing day, coolish, no wind, in the Jura. Watching on TV, hope to see them wave the Union Jack.
That’s hot Georgesgran enjoy your day out today, lots of air conditioning.
Pain isn’t it Ziploc I watered about 7:30, the greenhouse twice a day at the moment.
A late good morning from The Big Apple ✈️🇺🇸🗽. Arrived late last night, into a temp of 36 - absolutely exhausting. DD2’s choice of hotel this time is a little obscure, but we’ll manage. A day outdoors today, as it’s another scorcher.
Best wishes to all. X
Someone said on this thread yesterday: 'Don’t mention autumn Mizuna.' I assume that was meant tongue in cheek! I'm not likely to stop as there's a definite change in the atmosphere here at dusk
Too true! And welcome too.
I’ve noticed that the evenings are actually starting to draw in, I walk Rosie round the block around 10 before bed and it’s dark now whereas even a couple of weeks ago it was dusk and I didn’t need my torch.
Having said that we’ll probably get another (too hot and unwelcome) heatwave now!
Good morning all,
Overcast here today, but not raining. I think I might have to water my pots this evening if it doesn’t rain. It’s quite a faff to do whilst the hosepipe ban is in place.
Sending good wishes to all who are struggling with various issues. I hope today will bring you some comfort.
Lovely drawing hollysteers.
Beautiful drawing hollysteers
Good morning from a dull northwest coast. Last night to birthday party of ex singing student in a big hall and big turnout. We all took food which is a good idea. I sat with the wife of another mature student. He sadly passed away two years ago and is greatly missed, a lovely man who also did odd jobs for me. She gave me a lift home.
My DD has fixed me up with a new larger phone and I’m looking forward to getting used to it.
Today we are off to the next village to a summer fair where I like to buy homemade jams and cakes.
Hope you all have the best day you can.
Card I drew.
Overslept - very rare for me - but am still recovering from my few days away with DD. Three loads of washing and some gentle tidying in the garden yesterday but am absolutely wiped out today. Fortunately there isn’t much I have to do today so it doesn’t matter but am cross that so little activity leaves me so exhausted. My sympathy with my late MiL grows almost daily and I wish I had been kinder!
Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton, a dry day ahead.
Yesterday was beautiful, hot and sunny.
It was my friend's funeral after lunch and DD came to pick me up with another of our wine friends. The service was beautiful, simple, with 'school assembly' hymns, as Brenda had been a head-teacher, and I am glad to say lusty singing! Lots of people that I knew, other wine club friends, ex-teachers and pupils. Her son and family had come over from the States where they have lived for the last 20 years; her son was an ex-pupil of mine. Friend's husband is going back with them for a while and there is talk of him moving to live with them.
A bus trip to the shops this morning, then a quiet day ahead.with steak for dinner.tonight. Thinking of booking a spring holiday for next year.....
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.
Not much planned for today. MrB and I will be enjoying our usual walk down to the Dock gates. Then we will watch the steam trains for a little while. This afternoon I need to count out my meds for next week and I want to try a new beading technique I found on YouTube. I’m still feeling grotty thanks to this UTI, probably won’t get any antibiotics until next week.
I’m glad the property situation has been resolved amicably with your brother GrandmaBatty and removed a weight from your shoulders.
A warm welcome to any new posters I may have missed.
Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.
Have the best day you can everyone 🌹
Good morning from a cloudy south coast. Pots watered and washing in machine so time for a second cuppa.
The family are en route to Croatia as I type. One last family holiday for them before they all go their separate ways. Actually, I think they say that every year. 😂
I’m hoping to do some cooking for the freezer this weekend. I’m low carbing so there’s no bread taking up valuable space.
Hope everyone has the best possible day.
Good morning all, from east Sussex. Not a cloud,19c overnight. Was 24c yesterday, thankfully a breeze. Over 22c I feel ill, the hypertension meds don't help, they cause hot flushes. Dogs fed,did some gardening at 7 before it got too hot. Sil birthday BBQ. Lots of stuff to make. Did the cake yesterday. Feeling a bit rough, hiatus hernia! Have a good safe day all
Good morning from a grey and dull midlands.
A walk out this morning then making a cake.
Hugs to all suffering. Black dog days never far from the gate. 🤗🤗🤗
Good morning from a lovely fresh, cool Cornwall. Lots of rain overnight, which was needed.
A smashing day of family celebrations yesterday, including meeting my grandson's new bearded dragon. Then a mountain of Lego to dissemble at the library. After that a trip to my favourite charity shop where I bought six items for £3.50. I'll dissemble them to make other garments.
Today I'm checking on my allotment.
Someone said on this thread yesterday: 'Don’t mention autumn Mizuna.' I assume that was meant tongue in cheek! I'm not likely to stop as there's a definite change in the atmosphere here at dusk.
Marydoll sorry to read that your ear suction wasn't successful. I hoped it would be a magic cure!
Multi my dinner parties are very low key.
I buy fresh seasonal fish from the van which comes from Eyemouth , new potatoes and garden veg. My friend brings wine and occasionally a pudding (from Waitrose)
You are welcome to join us!
Good morning Mawhas already told of the weather so I won’t repeat.
A quick local food shop this morning. This afternoon we shall pop collect
MIL and , weather permitting, take her to a local Country park for a change of scenery. She can’t walk far , won’t use her mobility scooter and neither I nor DH are able to push a wheelchair on uneven ground.
We have booked a table down town for dinner.
DD3 and family are off on their Norfolk camping trip so hope the weather is kind to them.
Lovely surprise yesterday . DDs 1&2 asked if I would like to join them for a week away at the end of next month. We shall do some things together and they will do some walking whilst I enjoy some watercolour painting and sketching.
Thinking of all under par in any way and wishing all a good day.
Good morning all from a drizzly Glasgow, where it is 13°C
Madeleine, I read out your comment about a certain orange coloured president to DH, who is obsessed with USA politics in fact any political news, he found it very witty.
My plan for today is to build the new carpet shampooer. We need to replace the lounge carpet, but also decorate. I cannot face the upheaval at the moment, therefore this will be an interim measure.
The P.P forgot that the person, who writes the bulletin is on holiday, so heaven knows when the he will do it. That is, if he even remembers that I have prompted him.
His memory problems are getting progressively worse.
This will at least give me a free morning, for there is no bulletin to send out.
Unfortunately, the microsuction yesterday was mostly unsuccessful. Nothing was removed from one ear, and the other ear was only partially cleared. This was after a very long, painful and expensive session. I am in despair. I still have tinnitus and my splendid isolation continues. 😪
Another session is planned in a fortnight. However, the pharmacist, who carried out the procedure, fears I may need a referral to an ENT clinic.
He thinks my lifelong, sinus problems may be a contributory factor.
I explained why I had waited so long to seek intervention, i.e, my GP is not very supportive with my serious, ongoing issues and hardly has time to discuss them, let alone a new problem.
After the procedure, the pharmacist attempted to advise me, that yet another of my medications was unobtainable.
There was much laughter, when I couldn't hear what he was saying, despite having had microsuction. The assistants joked, that I should have asked for a refund!
I am hoping that you have arrived safely at your destination, Georgesgran, enjoy your break.
Corner, the same thing happened to me at the hospital last week, when I omitted to mention I was on blood thinners.
Also, I have given up on white trousers, too many disasters!!
Have the best day possible, folks.
Good morning from N Bucks where it is overcast but not unpleasant.
I have been up watering my borders (some new perennials) and pots and also pots from my friends and neighbours who are at their house in the Limousin in France for three weeks. They wheeled them round in three wheelbarrow trips and TBH they make a pleasant and colourful addition to my patio!
I at last have a date for my result and follow up to my mole excision, officially called a “lesion”, sounds so much worse (!) on the 4 August so I have another 10 days to build up a head of stress. I have a good friend who was where I am in the process 2 or so years ago and she is proving a goldmine of information and support. Once in the system it seems things do swing into action, but at NHS speed which can be variable.
My holiday in the S of France is technically still on - we shall see.
Thank you for kind wishes yesterday , my memories are all happy ones (even of St Andrews weather at its worst as the sun did come out eventually ) perhaps it was a foretaste of the “sunshine and showers” of married life!
Wishing you all a pleasant day and weekend.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and cloudy. Grammaretto I love deer but I wouldn't be thrilled at them munching my plants! Kalu enjoy your peaceful garden.
Yesterday was interesting. I was busy hoovering when my brother turned up. We are co executors to mum's estate. I have done all the paperwork so far. Anyway he has offered to buy me out of mum's property and I've accepted. It solves the problem of selling a. He lives in it currently and has lived with mum and dad for years. In the past he always said he was going to live on a canal boat but as he has got older, I think he's realised how impractical it would be. I'm relieved that he has somewhere to live that doesn't involve me! We don't get on, but I wouldn't have liked to see him homeless. So a win for both of us. After that, I did some weeding, got a washing out and organised a painter to come on Sunday to quote and a blind man to come on Wednesday to quote. Then I booked my eye test appointment for next Saturday morning. I was on a roll yesterday!
Today I'm going to town to Next to look at their sofas in situ. I've been researching online and theirs are as good as anywhere else. I'll strip the bed and get the whites done, clean the bathroom and do a bit of housework. This afternoon I have a Tesco delivery coming. Dinner will be quiche and salad. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a sunny Suffolk although cloud and possibly rain later. There was severe flooding on the A12 on Thursday apparently and it took some festival goers over 5 hours to travel the last 10 miles to the Latitude festival site….poor things. 40,000 expected each day so our intention to hunker down continues.
DS and family including DGD3’s best friend popped in yesterday on their way to a camp site o the north Norfolk coast where they are trying out their newly acquired motor home for the weekend. Great excitement all round and we were able to give DGD her birthday presents as she was 15 on Wednesday and a cake and strawberries we had bought for her.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from a warm and bright S E Essex.
I need to go to the local shops first thing, then I shall crack on with the ironing. DS4 and family are coming round this afternoon, so I shall need snacks for the little ones.
Enjoy your day 🙋♀️
Madeleine. May I suggest that you contact the hospital regarding your cataract surgery. I think if you have cellulitis surgery is not possible until you have been clear for a certain amount of time. Best wishes.
Grammaretto I too used to have dinner parties but due to having had a stroke I’m unable to have them anymore. I have lots of memories though good food, port. Red/white wine and real linen napkins those were the days my friend x
Good morning from still and greyish South Lanarkshire.
Yesterday was spent catching up with housework and doing a bit of weeding. I then had to collect a large gammon joint which I’d ordered from a local butcher.
I’ll cook it this evening for taking to DD’s tomorrow. She is hosting a family get together as a cousin of DH is bring his wife, children, their spouses and the grandchildren from the USA for a tour of Scotland. There will be around fifty people in total I think. I’m going over today to help prepare the house.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
