We were discussing her with friends only last week. We went to the Stables a lot before we moved to Scotland and were never disappointed, though it is much better now than in the 80/90s.

I was so lucky to hear Cleo and John at Ronnie Scott several
times. She was world famous, appeared in Carnegie Hall.

My husband and I attended a Cleo Lane jazz concert probably in the early 70's. Probably in Manchester. Loved her voice. Always a fan of Cleo. Later in life I became friends with a woman who was a friend of Cleo Lane and Johnny Dankworth.
May she rest in peace. flowers

I’m so grateful for Cleo Laine and all she and Johnny did for the music industry. I visit the Stables regularly, it’s a comfortable music venue to visit with excellent acts. RIP

A wonderful voice - and a four octave range. She was once described as the best singer in the world. A joy to listen to, RIP Cleo.

I am thrilled so many enjoyed listening to her and to John,
Wonder what other British singers appeared in Carnegie Hall

Yes may she rest in peace. Part of my musical life and she and John Dankworth were wonderful together and apart. Their daughter sings now or did a while ago. Cleo was a lovely person and I remember her fondly. My days songs are going to be a weird mix, as I shall be singing some of her songs, but mixed up with the great Tom Lehrer songs from the 50's and 60's, so the Masochism Tango will be in with a chance. Hurray for music how it accompanies our lives in many ways and with such great singers
