Good morning all from a rainy and windy east Fife, there’s a UK weather warning today : Storm Floris to bring strong winds and rain and it’s already started here. I’ll be watching Netflix films today. My neighbour came to visit me yesterday very upset as the council had reclaimed a glass verge on what she thought was her own property they pulled up her patio and ripped her fence out the ground leaving a terrible mess - be aware my friends take care and make sure you’ve got you’re own land when you buy a house.🤬🤬🤬and take care in this weather we’re getting today.

Good morning everyone from a grey and wet Inverness
So sorry to hear you’re in hospital Susan but positive that you’ve felt able to post today, hoping you’re back home soon
I enjoyed getting my hair done yesterday, it feels much better now. Today I’ve a video call with DS first thing, it’ll be good to catch up with all his news. After that I want to defrost the freezer and clean out the fridge before stocking it all up for next weeks visitors. A bit of garden tidying to do too, I’ll also move a few pots into a sheltered corner as the storm forecast for tomorrow looks like it’ll be very windy
Safe travels Ash and everyone on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where storm Floris is expected later on and into tomorrow.

Yesterday went well. I wasn't needed at the open house as there were more than enough helpers. I took my Helpers and a friend to visit more open gardens 800ft up in the Pentland Hills. Tea and cakes in the village hall. I think my new helpers must assume we live on tea and cake.

They cooked the supper of vegetables and polenta.
Today is Quaker meeting and pottery this afternoon while my helpers will begin to tackle my long wish list of jobs I have for them.

Sorry to hear you are in hospital Susan and hope you are better soon.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Thank you for the kind wishes for my birthday yesterday. My two elderly gents and I had a very enjoyable day exploring Chartwell along with a great many other people
A family WhatsApp ran all day and kept us in touch with those on holiday.
Today is lunch out and a visit to a local windmill. They are exhibiting art work by a group I attend
Susan I am so sorry you are in hospital and hope you feel better soon
Best wishes particularly to those struggling along.

Good morning all. Rain has just stopped and the forecast is sunshine for the rest of the day in Glasgow.

Extra aches and pains this morning as I overdid things working in the garden yesterday. It’s difficult to stop once the momentum gets going but annoyingly now there is a price to pay. A case of, the mind is willing but the body tells me to forget it! An at home day with many options to pick and choose from to keep me busy or have a lazy Sunday.

Sorry to hear you are in hospital Susan and I hope you are indeed getting better and will soon be home.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and wet. Susan get well soon. Ashcombe safe journey back later tonight.
Yesterday, despite my sore feet, I had a lovely catch up with my friend. An hour in, DD, Dsil and the boys arrived! Dgs1 immediately spotted me and came for a hug. Dgs2 was checking out the toilet with his mum. It's a thing he does wherever he goes. In the afternoon I got housework done, Tesco delivered and I ironed and put stuff away. Then literally put my feet up. My ankles were badly swollen too.
Today I will have a quiet day, no visitors expected. I'm going to make mince in the slow cooker and freeze some. If the rain stops, I'll do some weeding. Have a good day all.

Good morning from cloudy s somerset, rain later, maybe

I think I have finished the present de-cluttering/future-proofing of my garden, last stage will be in september. The garden plants have all matured and there are different heights of plants as I don`t like just flat. I transferred 2 heavy iron obelisks to the allotment and there they will support beans and cucumbers, Lots of soil moved, big plants lifted or trimmed and two tip tuns done

No time nor inclination for anything else apart from picking raspberries and strawberries from my troughs and of course watering my squash and tomatoes in my garden, they need me as they are in, or on, planters

Today, most definitely a rest and recovery day but I will first keep moving via a cycle ride, probably on my e bike and down the quiet lanes. I am hoping to get a bit of plying done too and appreciate that I will likely nod off after lunch, same as yesterday and the day before. I needed that rest time. I have been watching land girls and the duchess of duke street on youtube. Nice and easy to watch

Susan, I am so glad you can see recovery progress. Wishing you all the best

Have a good day

Good morning from a sunny S E Essex 🌞

We shall wander out for a late breakfast at one of our local eateries this morning, not sure what I fancy yet.

Then I have to iron bedding, not one of my friends jobs.

I also have to pack for my little holiday (?) with DD and her boys. Silly me I asked the boys where they wanted to go, their immediate answer was Butlin’s (I have gone from Barbados to Bognor in a few weeks ).

It is not my cup of tea but I derive pleasure from watching the little ones have fun and being happy.

DH is no doubt looking forward to being home alone

Oh dear Susan56 so sorry to hear your news, I do hope you are on the mend and back home soon 🌸

Thinking of our poorly friends 💐

Wishing you all a restful Sunday 🙋‍♀️

Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire. We expect rain any time - probably just in time to stand and watch Wolfie play football.

It is his mum's (Dd3) birthday today so they are coming for lunch after the match.

Have a good day all.

ginny Sun 03-Aug-25 07:02:50

Good morning from N. Bucks where the forecast is for cloud and maybe some sunny spells and rain. In other words , not a clue!
No particular plans until early evening when all family are meeting for dinner locally. A belated celebration for DD3s Birtday.
Susan56 wishing you a speedy recovery and also any others who are under par.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Sorry to hear that you’re in hospital Susan.

Another quiet day ahead here I think. Yesterday I sorted several bags of stuff given to me by DDoutLaw. I’ve got a couple of bags of decent donations, a bagful for the bin and a ragbag so it was a worthwhile effort.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Bellasnana Sun 03-Aug-25 06:54:44

Good morning from Chester where it looks cloudy.

Had a lovely meet up with two old school friends yesterday. The four of us chatted for hours over coffee and it was great catching up.

In the afternoon there was some activity on the river with 360 swimmers braving the chilly water. My friend and her husband were driving their boat with a cameraman filming the event so I watched from their house.

No idea what today will bring but I must do a bit of packing and try to make sure I don’t exceed the paltry 22kg luggage allowance!

Sorry to hear you are in hospital Susan. Get well soon.💐

Have a good day all.☀️

Ashcombe Sun 03-Aug-25 06:50:37

So sorry to hear you are in hospital, Susan56 and hope you are comfortable and will soon be well enough to return home. Sending hugs. 💐

Ashcombe Sun 03-Aug-25 06:47:56

Good morning from a bright and sunny Sarthe.

Our last morning here as we are due to leave tonight on the overnight ferry from Ouistreham to Portsmouth. We shall be travelling on one of the new ships launched by Brittany Ferries: Guillaume de Normandie which is a hybrid so environmentally friendly and (it is said to be) quieter. Normally, we cross late afternoon then sleep at a nearby Travelodge but their prices were prohibitive so we thought we’d revert to our routine from the past on this occasion.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

JamesandJon33 Sun 03-Aug-25 06:43:16

Bore Da everyone from a very wet SWWales. A quiet day today as the rain seems set for a few hours. Hope we don’t get too much wind as forecast. We have many large trees in our area and they are all in full leaf.
I hope everyone in the north doesn’t have too bad a time from storm Floris. Stay safe .

Susan56 Sun 03-Aug-25 06:38:29

Good morning from Shropshire where it is raining.

Since about two hours after I last posted on Thursday I have been in The Royal Shrewsbury hospital.I think I must be getting better as up until now I haven’t noticed the weather or read a word so posting today feels like a huge step forward.

Take care everyone and have the best day you can.xx

Redcar Sun 03-Aug-25 06:38:16

Good morning everyone from a sunny mid Essex. Yesterday was fairly grey and cool until late afternoon when the sun came out. DD2 took the dog for a long walk in the morning, after which the dog slept for most of the day, DD2 came round early evening and we all played with the dog in the garden.
I’m planning on going back to my house this morning to check the garden after Friday’s rain. I’ll move a few things around in case it gets windy tomorrow.
DD2 will walk the dog again and the dog and I will go to DD2’s for dinner this evening,

DD1 and family are having a good holiday, it was DGD3’s birthday yesterday, she spent the day on the beach and shopping!

cornergran have a lovely day with family.

Have the best day possible everyone. Hoping that those who are suffering in any way find some relief today.

latedecember1963 Sun 03-Aug-25 06:36:28

Good morning from a drizzly Anglesey. We're probably going to head home earlyish today as DH has some work he wants to do for tomorrow and he has a bigger monitor screen in the study at home.

It's just started raining heavier. I love the sound of rain on the caravan roof, I find it really soothing.

Had a lovely visit from my friend yesterday. We talked through the family issue we're going through and it was good to get the perspective of someone who knows all parties well.

I smiled at the reference to poor customer service, Greyduster. DH and I are frequently astonished and the total disdain/ disinterest when we are making purchases.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

grandMattie Sun 03-Aug-25 06:25:21

greyduster, my less than pleasant shop assistants normally graduate from “the KGB charm school”! 😂

peli Sun 03-Aug-25 06:24:18

Good morning fr MS, where it's actually only just turned into morning, due to the UK/US time difference. Btw, if anyone ever has insomnia, pls feel free to msg me b/c it wld only be early evg here, & I'd defin enjoy a chat.
Greyduster: yr plans for today sound so nice - jam & painting - enjoy yrself!
& Grandmattie: what a shame u didn't have a chance to be off-duty just for once! You're always doing so much for others...
I hope everyone here has a pleasant day!

RosesandLilac Sun 03-Aug-25 06:17:09

Good morning everyone from a cool, dull spot in south Glos.
I finished my pencil drawing yesterday and I will start another today.
We had a very pleasant dog walk early yesterday, I’m surprised at how heavily laden with berries the hawthorn bushes are this year, an apple tree in one hedge has more fruit than I’ve ever seen before and blackberries are prolific too. A good year for feeding the birds and wildlife I hope.
DS and DGS1 are heading for Munich on the night train and the start of another adventure cycling to northern Italy to meet up with DDIL and DGS2. They’ll spend the rest of the summer there with the Nonni before heading home at the beginning of September. DGS1 is 12 today, where does the time go…..

Sending best wishes to you all 🌹

cornergran Sun 03-Aug-25 06:11:19

Morning Mick, morning All from a gloomy looking corner of Somerset. Heavy cloud with rain forecast.

Faffing this morning before family come later. We’ll eat together, we’re both looking forward to it as it’s not happened here for many a month. If the rain has cleared we’ll meet at the beach first if Mr C’s foot allows.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Greyduster Sun 03-Aug-25 05:58:43

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A spectacular sunrise this morning in South Yorkshire. I took a photo on my phone standing on the doorstep in my pyjamas - fortunately no-one was around😁 - but it hasn’t synced to my iPad yet.
Yesterday was very hot. I went out and bought a new freezer from a grumpy woman in a large electrical store who I think learned her customer service skills from Atilla the Hun! Anyway, it’s done now and I shalln’t use that branch again. I made some chicken soup from the chicken left over from Friday’s dinner, and had some for my supper last night. It was delicious; rich and flavourful. I will eat the rest today as I can’t store it for too long. The freezer isn’t coming until Thursday.
Today I will make some jam as I am now ankle deep in plums🙄, and maybe make some sketches for a painting I want to do of somewhere we went on holiday. DD liked the view and it would make a nice watercolour for her.
Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Sun 03-Aug-25 05:44:13

Good morning from a grey Bristol.
Yesterday was quiet, although there were 17 people in attendance at the church coffee. We are supposed to be two serving, but the other person didn’t turn up, so I didn’t really have a chance to chat as I was up and down like a yo-yo.
The afternoon was quiet, I was tired as I hadn’t had an especially good night.
My patchwork is progressing well. I’m trying to make 4 blocks at different stages at the same time - each block has 72 triangles… Blimey! That makes a lot of triangles, if I’m making 42 blocks.
Not much today, other than church.
Someone commented that it was very sad that some residents don’t speak to anyone for days and days. Well, that’s me as well, I can go 48 hours without saying more than “good morning” when I buy my paper, which I why I have joined so many groups. In August, it’s worse as most things shut down and the family goes away.
I’ve just finished reading “Casino Royale” for my book group - my first, and probably last 007 book. Although pacy, it was totally idiotic and a load of cardboard cutout characters.
May you have a blessed Sunday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
