My husband says this (probably for the same reason) and goes rather quiet when I reply that grass doesn’t grow in a desert either…

My Gran used to say “If you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves “. Certainly makes for a comfortable life. I am glad I listened to that one.

I like that Daffydilly - quite relevant for me now as I anxiously await a call from my d.I.l. regarding the results of a scan - she found a lump on her collarbone a week or so ago.
I hope, whatever the scan shows, it’s all going to be ok. She is a mother with young children.
