My DGS is due Nat 5 results. The family are on their way home from Europe today. I’m not sure whether he’d opted for an email, or postal delivery, but as I haven’t heard, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that’s because he hasn’t seen them yet, and that they’ll have been in the mail! Having said that, his elder brother was waiting for his three years ago, and because they have a very (ridiculously) small letterbox, the postman left a card saying that the envelope was too big, so it would have to be picked up at the mail centre. DD then called the school to get the results. They were much better than he expected, so he then decided that the school had given his mum someone else’s, and was beginning to be very worried. No one rushed to the mail centre! When I texted him next day, he said that neither his mum or dad had collected the envelope yet!!! The school had given the correct results, happily.

A very good friend of mine rang me this morning to say her youngest granddaughter has secured her place at Edinburgh University. Delighted for her after all the hard work and worry.

I often felt it would be easier all round if I did the exams for them!

I had one DC doing GCSEs and the other Alevels, a mother with dementia, a father with Alzheimer's, 70 miles around the M25 in its worst days. Working, sometimes abroad. And no siblings. A really gruelling time.

Now with the two 17 yr old DGCs it's open days at universities and where to apply in September. Thankfully they are both very bright and have good predictions so fingers crossed. Youngest does GCSEs next year too. So in full empathy with my DCs, but hoping for the best. Education and it's results has become so stressful.

My granddaughter received her SQA Nat5 results today and after lots of hard work achieved seven A’s! So proud of her.

We have imminent GCSEs and A Levels - not so stressful though as DGS3 has opted for a degree apprenticeship and that is unconditional.

We’re waiting for one grandchild’s A level results and one’s GCSEs.
As my own children were born at 2 year intervals I had this double stress over and over. My mother had twins doing A levels plus me doing O levels in the same year. She bought a big tin of Horlick’s for bedtimes during exams.

My twin DGSs both did well in their Highers (and a couple of Nat5s) - great relief all round as they are not the most enthusiastic students when out of school - why would you be when there is sailing and cycling and computer games? 😂. They are doing another year at school so I hope they are encouraged to put in the effort to add to this years achievements.

Hope many others are also happy with their results and, as Grandmabatty says, there’s always Clearing, and, I would add, alternatives in the way of apprenticeships and college courses.

Apparently there's a delay in postal results because of yesterday's storm. I heartily agree with you though. I hope all who are waiting for results get what they deserve. Remember there's always Clearing if it didn't go quite as you hoped.

Hope all Scottish DGC who were expecting exam results today got what they were hoping for. smile
