Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but no Sunrise yet here in Brackley this morning.
Today will be much of the usual routine housework followed by getting the bus into Bicester and chatting to people I know.
Health OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Thanks Marydoll. I’ll try that!

Does anyone else have a problem with posts disappearing in the middle of being written? I wrote a long post about my amusing trip to hospital but it just disappeared! It was a long one too and I am not happy!
Crossstichfan, having lost so many posts, I choose select all, then copy, every so often, then if the poste disappears, I can paste it back into the text box.

Good morning from a damp northwest coast. Another quiet day ahead of decluttering. I need to catch up with a few people by phone too.
My cat is ‘talking’ to me more than ever, I wish I knew what she was on about.l.
Thoughts to all 🌺
Acrylic I’m working on.
That is beautiful! What a great talent to have.
gingster, when I ha£ my cataract don3 a few months ago, I took a bus into hospital, then took a taxi home. No probs.
I had prepared a microwaveable meal and sandwiches. All very simple.
Good luck.
Good morning from Stockport.
Weather just the same as yesterday but it turned warm and quite sunny in the afternoon.
My friend was not too bad yesterday as I kept the talk away from her exceptionally talented family.
Another improvement was that she went to Specsavers on Saturday about her hearing and was fitted with new hearing aids.
First time in many months she could hear everything and actually told me to stop shouting!!
Later I visited another friend who is 2 weeks post THR.
She is doing amazingly well and has surprised us all.
Today I am out for lunch with my friend across the road, she has just come back from Lourdes, she goes every year that she can, so I shall get a full report.
Kindest thoughts to poorlies and their carers.
Have a decent day everyone.
Good Morning from a blustery, bright Durham. There may be rain later.
Despite still coughing like a dog, I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10an. Lots to talk about following my holiday, especially as DD2 dropped a bombshell.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning everyone from a cloudy south coast. I slept late but feel better for it.
A bit more pruning is required on my half of next door’s camellia and bay shrubs although I made a good start yesterday. Because it was hot and sunny all the dog walkers commented on the lovely smell of the bay leaves.
DGD1 is coming round tomorrow to assemble the desk she has passed on to me for my spare room. She and her boyfriend move to Bristol at the weekend. 🥲
I hope everyone has a good day.
Condolences to baubles and her family.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the sun has just appeared after rain.
"Paperwork" today to do with new lodgers due to move into my grannyflat on Sunday.
Yesterday was sociable. I took my 2 Helpers to yarn group and to community lunch. Later we drove to Peebles to join a silent vigil for peace.
Then walked along the beautiful river Tweed watching herons, dippers and ducks.
Sorry to hear about your eyes Stilllearning and hope there is help available.
Baubles Sending you love ❤️ and prayers 🙏 at this awful time.
Happy birthday Mr Lester
Enjoy your travels and reunion Sar
I hope everyone has some joy today.
Good morning everyone.
Wishing Mrkitty a very Happy 80th Birthday 🎂🎉🍷
Good wishes to all 🌺
Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.
Yesterday was a good day. I was feeling good, we were able to get out for a walk and I finished the bracelet I was working on after lunch. MrB made a delicious cottage pie for tea, my favourite meal and one that doesn’t upset my delicate digestive system. Today we will go for our daily walk and I’ll start planning my next bracelet creation. It sounds quite boring when I read what some of you are up to, but I love spending time near home. I wasn’t sure if I would ever see it again when I was so very ill in hospital. My day is filled with small pleasures and as long as I am with my beloved I am content. Right, off for my shower now.
Hope the treatment goes well Stilllearning.
Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹
Good morning all.
My post yesterday didn’t appear for some reason.
Firstly condolences to Baubles . How very sad 🙏.
A busy day yesterday - car was picked up for its service and MOT , Dh picked up for breakfast with his old school pals.
Church for me and a meetup with my friend for coffee and a wander around the market and a visit yo M and S.
Last evening I met my surrogate daughter for a late (for me) meal. I hate eating after about 6 but with her working and having two small children, it had to be.
During the afternoon I had a call from the eye clinic saying my cataract op is next week.😳. Very surprised as I haven’t waited very long. Now I have to work out who is able to take me (8 am) , stay with me and bring me home. Dh says he will but he’s really not up to it.
Today I have bowls and then home to do some clipping back in the garden.
Safe journey Sar. Have a lovely time on the boat .🛥️
Take care all 🌼
Good morning from N.Bucks. It looks like the sun is having a longer lie in than I did.
Our day out with the boys was yesterday lovely. Perfect weather and they were happy and interested in everything we did. Of course very tiring as on the go the whole time.
Today I have a manicure in about an hour then several small jobs to do in the house. A bit of crafting later I hope.
Get well wishes to all our poorlies and a good day wished for everyone.
Happy birthday to MrLester
Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton, another dry and hopefully sunny 🌞 day ahead.
A day of gentle pottering yesterday, the towels washed and dried, admin dealt with, cat's litter tray cleaned and refilled.
Confirmed details of and paid for an excursion to the Houses of Parliament I am going on in a couple of weeks time. Our MP is giving us a guided tour.
I spent the later half of the afternoon sitting in the garden and reading Stephen Fry's book 'Odyssey', which is very good. I do love the ancient Greek myths and stories.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Hairdresser this morning, then a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon.
Shall make macaroni cheese for dinner, and hopefully enough left over to freeze.
Good morning from Shropshire where a cool breeze is blowing through my hospital window.
I can see signs of improvement daily, have had a shower and washed my hair, DH bought me several pairs of pj’s from Sainsbury’s so am feeling much better in myself.Dr should be round soon so praying all my latest results show improvement too🙏🏻
Safe travels Sar.
Thinking of you all and hoping everyone has a good day🌻🦩
Still learning I'm sorry to hear about your eye troubles. My friend has macular degeneration and isn't coping well with it.
Sar safe journey to Amsterdam and beyond.
I'm missing Taichinan. I know she pops in and out but I enjoy reading her posts. I'm hoping Susan is improving enough to get home
Good morning from a sunny NE after heavy overnight rain.
It is still breezy and more rain is forecast.
Yesterday was a day of odd jobs, in the morning I swept the patio and gathered up the palm fronds from my neighbour's tree as they always fall into my garden. The wind had blown over a large pot and lots of the geraniums were beheaded.
In the afternoon I cleaned the condenser from the dryer, fiddly but necessary.
I am going out for lunch with my two sisters and my BIL, farewell meal as my elder sister returns to Germany on Saturday.
Such sad news Baubles, my condolences to you and your family.
Good morning Mick and everybody from dreary, rainy Carlisle. I should have mowed the lawn yesterday, it certainly won't be today!
Yesterday morning I got to the garden centre and had a mooch around, it's all in transition at the moment, displays in and out being changed around, ready for the unmentionable season I suppose. Outside they were still trying to sell bedding plants, so many left including benches and benches full of beautiful dahlias. I'm giving up on dahlias, even when bought as a full-grown plant, they can be rapidly destroyed by vicious snails who don't know they should be deterred by copper tape and coffee grounds. It's sad because I love them and have successfully grown them for decades elsewhere.
I got my coffee and found I could not resist a scone in spite of its ridiculously expensive price and being aware of my expanding gut!
Today, just pottering around tidying up and having a sort through more drawers, then a reading afternoon.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
It is the annual U3A summer lunch today. It should be fun. My contribution is a chocolate Guinness cake with chocolate fudge icing.
My left thumb is still agonising. I’ve strapped it up.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from South Lanarkshire, rainy and dull at the moment and is forecast to remain so. The nice weather lady on whichever news I was watching later on last night actually apologised to Scotland but promised things would improve!
Enjoy your reunion and holiday Sar, your description of your journey made me a little envious, I love the travelling bit!
I’ve got my first treatment for my worsening macular degeneration this afternoon. I’m a little wary but very grateful that there is an intervention that will help prevent further sight loss. It has been quite marked recently and has made me rather/very anxious.
I can imagine the chaos the two ‘happy’ young men caused Ash but cheering kndness 😊
Best wishes to everyone for the best day possible.
Good morning from 15 degree cloudy Cambridgeshire but expected to be cloudy and windy for most of the day.
Yesterday DD2 and I walked around 1.5 mikes to a pretty little pub for lunch to be told on arrival at 1.30 pm they had closed the kitchen due to being busy. We looked around and certainly didn’t look over busy. So we walked back negotiating the very lively cows in the field again and eventually had a lovely but later than planned lunch at another village pub sitting in the sun.
Today (my diet isn’t going well this week) DH and I are lunching with my old school friend I started school with at 5 years old and her husband whom I also went to school with to celebrate us all turning 70 this year. We don’t meet up very often so it will be good to catch up.
Hope everyone has a good day
Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday’s jam making worked well and I left 6 pots with DGD1 and brought 3 home for us. Interesting chatting to her as we stood and stirred and potted up.
Today is a day at home and then a meal out this evening with DD2, she is just back from holiday.
Best wishes
Good morning Mick and all GN's up and about on this sunny breezy morning in North Yorkshire . The weather is looking good but promised showers later but I am in a cratchety mood and struggling.
Have got the bedding in the washer at least. Last night I went to whist, and had to give in and ask to stay at one table , as I was in such a lot of pain that moving round would have been too hard and in any case I would have been so slow I would have held up proceedings for everyone. Didnt win and no great hands more being pleased at making the best from lousy hands such as one with no trumps at all and another where the highest card in any suit was 8!! But it was good to see the crowd and it helped take my mind off aches and pains, except for the fact that the light over the table I was sat at wasnt working properly and had to ask other people to fill in the score as couldnt see well enough to do it correctly.
So came home, and sat down to check some papers, then put the tv on for the news, but it was on another programme that was interesting so sat to watch that. Somewhat fatal given my sleeping pattern at the moment. The next thing I knew it was about 4.30am, I was stiff as a board, the programme had long since finished of course, but it was very bad for me as I had been sat up all the time with my feet on the ground. Absolutely NOT the recommended way to sleep for me. Every bit of me ached as I shuffled off to bed and my knees and legs ached so badly I didnt really get back off to sleep, and my eye hurt and just generally fed up. So gave up about 5.30am and have the bedding in the washer and every move is taking me longer and is more painful, so I am not best pleased with myself.
I have two meetings to go to this morning, and both have important things happening. I had planned to be very efficient and go to one which I hoped the subject I am interested in was first on the agenda and then disappear off to the other meeting. Well now with both body and mind working at the speed of a tortoise, I will be lucky to get to one meeting at this rate. Why is it sods law that for days nothing special is happening and then two things at once?
So hopefully once I have had some breakfast and loosened up a bit I wont be such a grumpy so and so, and can make the most of the day. Yesterday I was pleased to find a new to me Alexander McCall Smith book in a charity shop , so that will be something to enjoy. I got some washing dry yesterday too, but at the moment it is one step forward two steps back. Glad to get things clean, but just not up to doing any ironing or struggling putting things away in drawers and cupboards, and certainly dare not be stupid and get up on any steps. Frustration is the word for the day!!
I have never done air b/b before. Did join a little while ago, as I thought it might be a way of being able to go over and see the family for a reasonable cost. All I want is a clean bed and a shower to get into , and find the hotels and so forth are so expensive and those that are very good, I dont stay around enough to use the facilities and some others I have tried I have begrudged the cost with a rubbish hard bed etc. So I dont like blackpool and never have, so wouldnt want to stay there but I do like Morecambe and the villages round Lancaster. Having a look the other day, found what looked to be a good match, so slowly and carefully followed instructions as to how to book it and blow me it wouldnt take my money. When I looked at it I have changed my bank since I put the details in, so that had to faff about putting the new information in. By the time that was sorted the one I wanted to stay at was fully booked!!! Not being my day is it??
Anyway will leave it a day or two and give it another go. If it works ok I would really like to go and see the new RHS Bridgewater garden near Manchester. Too far to drive in one day and so this might give me the chance to stay overnight and see the garden at my own pace. Well will report back if it works well. Have any of you used airb/b and do you have any tips for a new venturer into the scheme?
Fortunately Jessie will be coming this afternoon. I was in that cant win situation, where I can struggle to pay the bills, but with something ridiculous like £10 over the limit am not entitled to any benefits. Heads you lose tails you lose! But a very switched on lady at the group said that she was sure I would be entitled to attendance allowance. I rather bristled and said I want to run things myself and be independant, but she explained that with the difficulty I have now moving about and trying to reach things from the floor and cant stand for ages etc that she thought that I qualified, and after a bit of a faff about it was sorted, and I do qualify. So it now means that I have some one come once a week, and especially when I am in the state I am in now, it means that she will turn the mattress over, (which I cant do now) and remake the bed in double quick time. She picks stuff off the floor for me and puts things where they should be , and it is not a long time, but it is physically cheering to see things tidied away and mentally just to be able to think , When Jessie comes I will ask her to do this or that. I was an idiot, could have had this bit of help ages ago, anyway grateful for it now. Most of all because it lets me keep the illusion that I am living independantly still.!!So these days rather than thinking I had better climb up the steps to that cupboard I can just make a note to ask her to check it out for me.
I have to accept that I will not be dashing about anywhere soon, but hope that I can manage to go and look at a garden at the weekend. well shall see how the days goes. I got a small piece of pork to roast from (of course) the reduced bit in Tesco, so that will be the grand effort this afternoon. I can sit on my stool to do the veg and then make a nice roast dinner . There will be plenty for that and to have cold meat and salad tomorrow, and a jacket potato will be easy to do, so that has saved me thinking what to make and what I can make that doesnt require me to stand up for ages . Even have a bramley apple to make sauce with. That is one thing we have that you never get abroad. I love that tartness and yet smooth sauce you can make with bramleys. When I lived in Portugal I had to get an eating apple and put some lemon juice with it to get something I would enjoy.
Hurray for the mute button on the tv. I want to hear the news but any thing that begins with Dictator Donald Duck Trump, is an immediate switch off or rather mute button. What a shame there is not an actual mute button in real life to press!!
Oh I am in a Victor Meldrew frame of mind. Hard luck if anyone comes to my door trying to flog me wretched Zoom or whatever they will get short shrift today!
Greyduster, how satisfying for you to get a lot of jobs done, and every time you look out you will be pleased to see the efforts in the garden. Sar53 hope you have a good journey, and enjoy the meeting up with your husband.
I hope everyone has a good day and has something nice to enjoy. speaking of which I am off to make another cup of coffee to cheer my morning before I creak off to the meetings. Hopefully I shall return in a better frame of mind! Lucky I live on my own at the moment , no one else has to put up with me!
