I am a great advocate of skill swapping, and once your garden is set up as you like it perhaps you could investigate amongst friends something like this.
We used to have a system , where each person was given 3 tickets free to begin with. Then we had 2 lists. One was jobs that needed doing, and the other was a list of peoples skills available.
That way you did not have to match someone with set skills, so I could offer to drive you wherever you wanted to go. You would pay the fuel and I would take you wherever you wanted. I could also do babysitting, some gardening taking children to parks, or swimming or whatever. I hate sewing but am rather a perfectionist about things being well finished. So I could look down the list and pay with a ticket for someone to do that for me. If you get the picture.
The other thing once the garden is as you want it , is that you find another keen gardener and arrange to water each others garden when you are away. That is much better than asking family or whatever, because you can rest easy that a gardener will be looking after your garden as you would like.
Hope you get sorted out to your satisfaction with your garden, and if you want some good ideas then I would look at the local Gardening Club, and ask them for recommendations . They might have good ideas about suitable plants for your area , and may also know trustworthy people to do the garden
