A little light reading on the Mumsnet forum today:

I saw it and just thought he looked Meh! Bland. He's so doing the potential victim/host a favour by gracing them with his divine presence. Wanker

I managed to read what he wrote and listen to him on Youtube.
You are not missing much. The man is a complete (please supply any term of abuse you choose however crude).

The trouble is, he's taken down his original posting so we seem to just be left with people talking about him.

Aw shucks...

This should work.
He wouldn’t get over the threshold, both my daughter and I are assertive types.

Yep...that worked (subject to the having to "refresh" the webpage 3 times I have to do because I have an adblocker on).

Reading further on down the thread and he's even put up a YouTube video where he's talking! He ain't nearly so good-looking in the video LOL. It's very clear he's a right waffler and tries to "tie people up in words".

If he's got any skills at gardening and DIY, I reckon his idea could work. A lot of older people living alone , or perhaps newly recovering from surgery, might welcome some very low cost home- -help for a week or fortnight.

There's already a scheme for older people to have a live-in lodger who pays a reduced rent in exchange for some help and assistance.

The link I posted earlier worked but has been deleted since then.

Maybe he's getting lots of odd offers???

Desdemona Sat 09-Aug-25 20:38:41

Aww none of the links worked. Never mind. I will just have to deal with the fact I may have missed out.

Oh well, he’s go hungry, then, Cariad and find his bags dumped outside the front door!

No cheekier than crowdfunding for frills and furbelows, really. I’ve got six trees being delivered soon. If he promised to plant those and agreed to do all the household cooking and washing up, he could stay! grin

He'd probably be "too busy" to do so or suffer a (very timely) injury to his back and go "The mind is willing...but the body is weak" to get out of it.....

Am thinking now of the one I used to know here - until it became all too clear what he was like:

- I think he thinks an appropriate contribution towards everything is to quote New Age spiritual platitudes at everyone (which everyone came to realise comes from one particular well-known "New Age preacher"). Guess that's one form of "fascinating" conversation.....

- I found his definition of "There's my kitchen - make yourself what you want for dinner" got translated by him into taking all sorts of stuff from my larder etc that he fancied, realising it was rather a lot and his solution to that was to ask for a bigger dinnerplate and pile it really high. As I have a rather Middle Eastern approach to hosting of "I think shame on myself if a guest goes hungry" (from Middle Eastern boyfriends and friend way way back that I had) = he'd found a way to eat 2 dinners worth of food.....

I think the comeuppance starts for this sort of behaviour when they reach obvious middle age and they're not as good-looking as they think they are any more......

The vague hints at what he might or might not contribute translate as virtually nothing except potentially boring pseudo-intellectual conversation.

... love it! grin

Free loading CF who loves himself! What a load of twaddle

Aldom Sat 09-Aug-25 12:41:01

Sounds like a freeloader to me.
I would guess that he would always be 'busy' if asked to undertake gardening or household tasks.

Galaxy Sat 09-Aug-25 12:13:56

Honestly I would pay not to have to interact with someone who talks in that way.

There’s one born every minute so I bet he’ll find a free berth.

Wonder if this will work for me when our house on two levels becomes a burden.
I would want a room, en-suite, on ground floor level, preferably close to amenities ..
I can provide sparkling conversation at mealtimes (which I presume you will cook). Also I like to potter in the garden
Do you think I would get much response 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love it 🤭

BlueBelle Sat 09-Aug-25 11:38:49

Thanks NotSpaghetti that opens
Well he’s certainly easy on the eye, cheeky, but hey ho worth a try, at least he’s honest not staying somewhere then leaving without paying he’s up front. He obviously thinks he has something to offer in the way of personality and conversation
whether the home owner thinks the same is up for debate
It’s a different concept I guess taking money out of the equation I guess it depends really what he’s prepared to give back Is the gardening /house duties enough for the conversation and companionship I can see it working for a weekend or maybe a week but 2/3 months ummmmm seems a bit of a cop out on his part, is he destitute ?
Interesting idea though if the give back is equal but not very fair if he just offering his personality

Allira Sat 09-Aug-25 11:28:09

The thread has probably been deleted, CariadAgain!
