Parking in Disabled Bay without Blue Badge

I see your point Crosstitchfan....but then they would be blocking the spaces for even longer replacing the tyre!!!!!
It would be good if you could report it to the supermarket customer service desk and that they could make an announcement that car number xxxxxx is blocking the Blue Badge parking spaces without a relevant Badge. Please Move Immediately. And then involve security.

You did absolutely the right thing. I go to our local Asda to collect a prescription. All the Blue bays taken up with Audi, BMW drivers, I’ve walked past these cars not one badge! It’s every time. So one day I waited, watched, mainly young people. I can’t say anymore than that.

How hard is it to let tyres down?? 🤣

I always remember going to our local Tesco and the actress Sunera Sarker zooming into the carpark and plonking her car in a disabled space. I glared at her as she walked into the store but she obviously thought I'd just recognised her from the TV, I should have reported her straight away. I've always hated her since and can't watch anything she's in.

What is it about some famous people that makes them so objectionable and entitled?
Many years ago, before flying everywhere was a thing, many famous people travelled through Dover. My father, who was a Customs Officer there at that time, told me that the famous people always gave the officers a hard time if they were stopped. It was almost a ‘don’t you know who I am?’ situation. He always made them open their bags if they were snooty, and REALLY took his time if they complained! Ooh, the power! He would probably have been sacked if the bosses had found out. But then again……..

IMO Asda staff should be taking action on this.

As for ‘young people’, almost every time I take a bus here (often) some young, apparently perfectly able-bodied person will plonk herself (almost always female, I’m afraid to say) in one of the first available priority seats, when there are plenty further back.

I dare say someone will now mention ‘hidden disabilities’ but it happens so often, I simply can’t believe they all have one, especially not when they hop on and off the bus like mountain goats.

I completely agree that it's not on to park in a disabled space unless you have a blue badge, but it is always worth bearing in mind that not all disabilities are visible. My friend constantly gets challenged about parking in disabled spaces - her daughter is visually impaired, although you wouldn't know it to look at her.

I do know that all disabilities are not visible but the point is you have to display a blue badge whatever. That is the point of them!

Maybe some enterprising Blue Badge holder can design a huge sticker for us BB users to have a stock of to place on cars wrongly parked in disabled bays?? ‘Name and shame’ sort of thing?!?
I have a BB, had one for some years and recently had to renew it. It is annoying to see non BB holders using designated spaces…….almost as annoying as people watching when I get out of the car, obviously to check how ‘mobile’ I actually am………and to be clear I am NOT very mobile, hence the well qualified for BB.

My local Hilton hotel has at last started to enforce the Blue Badges.
They have outsourced it so that it's all done remotely which is well advertised.

Delighted you reported her.I am in a wheelchair and it is sometimes very difficult to park because of selfish uncaring people.

I agree with you, Primrose. It's a widely abused privilege, and when I was transporting Mum in her wheelchair I was incenced to see fit folk with no badge hogging the designated places.

Several years ago when I challenged an obviously fit young woman at 7pm in a supermarket car park, she said they won’t be out at this time of night. I honestly felt like hitting her and I’m not in the least bit violent.

Well done. If she had been pleasant and moved her car for you to park, you wouldnt have reported her. Why are people so horrid and thoughtless.

I hate injustice and this was certainly that. Selfish people drive me mad. They should be very glad they don’t need a disabled badge themselves. Then they would know what it’s like!

Welcome to the World of most genuine Blue Badge holders Primrose. Sadly, it happens all the time.
My local out of town complex has a maximum time limit - camera controlled - then a fine, but no boots on the ground to enforce the BB parking, so once in, drivers can park wherever they want.
