All the best to the FGTs and sorry to read you have had further problems diagnosed Marydoll
Changes in taxation that Andy Burnham seems to be interested in
Good Morning Everyone,
The Sun as yet to rise over Brackley this morning, its a grey looking sky .
Today usual routine with the bus trip to Bicester , see people I know ,shop and return .
My health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick
All the best to the FGTs and sorry to read you have had further problems diagnosed Marydoll
Good morning from Shropshire.29 forecast today but light rain at the moment.
The community nurse rang yesterday to say I am on the urgent list and will get a phone call on the 19th🤪I did have phone calls from the consultant and practice nurse which were so helpful explaining the recovery process and the way forward so I am feeling way more confident now.I have had such good care during my hospitalisation and after.Shame about the misdiagnosis which caused the issues but onwards and upwards💪🏼
Marydoll, I hope you get the intervention you need. You are inspirational the way you deal with your health issues and keep going💪🏼💐
I hope Blossoming is better today.
Thoughts with the FGT’s today.
Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻
Madeleine I’m in awe of your determination and fortitude dear lady. Your mobility is so very much compromised but look at what you manage to achieve! You are truly inspirational.
Thank you everyone for sending us good wishes for today. It’s an important scan as it will measure response 🤞 to the new chemotherapy Himself is on. I’m very anxious but that goes with the territory these days. Thank goodness we have my lovely brother in law to take us and bring us home. He’s such a kind man with an encouraging yet calming manner. I call him my wingman. We’ve told him we don’t know how we’d have managed these past two and a half years without his stalwart support.
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but supposed to clear up later and be very warm. I may not join the walking group this afternoon as I do not fancy walking in 30° plus temperatures!
A good yoga class yesterday followed by coffee.
Cleaned the bathrooms when I got home, but left the floors till this morning. The afternoon was spent lazily reading.
Mainly pottering today and not doing much because of the heat. Will make a chicken soup later with my left over roast from Sunday. There's enough left to also have a chicken sandwich for lunch.
Only woke up at 7.30am, so have not read the thread yet; will go back and do that now.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
A very late good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 38°C today.
I have woken up extremely late due to having risen at 2am to watch the tennis from Cincinnati. It was Sinner playing and I prefer to watch it as it’s happening rather than after the fact, hence I have slept late.
I always chuckle at the antics of your boys Grandmabatty, aren’t they lovely though!😄
I had DGS1 from 8.20 until 5.30 yesterday and he was an angel. He hadn’t wanted to go with mum and brother and I think he enjoyed himself being on his own with Nana for a change!
Marydoll I also love Ta’ Pinu and have had prayers answered too. Not always in the way I had expected, but answered nonetheless.
I’ve got a few things to do today, namely contacting the electricity people yet again to tell them my smart meter is defunct. I’m sick of receiving estimated bills when I have already informed them it needs changing.
It has taken me a while to read all your posts so I had better get going. I don’t know why I feel guilty if I’m not up and about early as I’ve nobody to answer to, I guess it’s just a case of ‘old habits die hard’.
Wishing a good day to all and thinking of the FGTs and dear soop,☀️
*Ash*, I empathise re groups and gone with forgotten. It does happen a lot when group `friendships` are made in older age. Passing acquaintances is what seems to happen re these groups, out of sight becomes out of mind
A later good morning from Suffolk where the sun is just breaking through the clouds so it will probably be as hot as forecast.
We’ll have a quiet day today mostly spent indoors as our cottage is cool until the sun moves round to the west facing sitting room in the mid afternoon.
About to take the dog out for her morning walk which will probably only be for less than 30 mins( her choice). I have a very busy next 2 days so will catch up with you all later in the week and hope all is well for all.
Good morning all. We had a period of light rain for a few hours last night, on and off from 7pm till into the small hours. Today is set to be very hot.
At the weekend DS, DinL GS1, GD2 and their lovely dog stopped by for dinner on their way back from their holiday in Cornwall. We hadn’t seen them since Mothers Day in March and it was lovely to catch up. At 14 DS is a lot taller than I am now. They are such an active, busy family and very cohesive. A no phones order must have been issued as I didn’t see one the whole time. 😂
I hope Susan56 and Blossoming are both feeling better. Madeleine time to have your eye looked at. It shouldn’t be painful now. Good luck to FGT2 and Hinself today.
Take care in the sun everyone.
Thank you Grandmabatty and brook. I’m sure it will all be worth it when finished.
Bore Da everyone. The sun is shining here in Carmarthen and it looks to be a hot day. Just finished the ironing and DH is outside rounding all the bushes.
Other than that it’s going to be a quiet day.
Take care everyone , especially those in the SE where 34% is predicted
Good. Morning all.
Yesterday was fun with our chimes group, finishing with delicious home made scones , clotted cream and home made strawberry jam. I’ll give the recipe a try as they were exceptional. Mine are always hit or miss!
Then on to Sainsburys for a big shop. It was lovely and cool in there so I didn’t rush home. I saw my friends daughter who works there. She had a high powered job in London but cut and run a few years ago as the pressure got too much for her. Happy as Larry now with enough to pay her mortgage and run her little car. She only has herself to think about, so all is good.
When I got home, Dh wasn’t feeling too good and could hardly walk, leg swollen etc. and asked me to book a gp appointment 😳. He has refused to go since his stroke 4 months ago.
Like you Corner I had to get ‘the big guns out’ (sons and Dd).
I miraculously got an appointment’come as soon as you can’.
Blood tests booked, and another appointment next week.
Firstly - take bp twice a day as well as excercises twice a day. For ever!!!
He’s been very bad with this!
Today I’m meeting my old pal for coffee . Two stops on the train. I love living so close to the station as the roads are so busy now.
Later Bridge Club, Dh is happy to be left (no nagging wife around). 🙄.
Madeleine another lovely day for you. Rest up today and be ready for your next adventure. 💪🏾.
Take care in this heat. Roll on autumn 🍁🍂
‘
Morning, sun and 21 already in the south, we had a couple of showers last evening and one enormous clap of thunder about 11pm, most odd.
An unsatisfactory day on the voluntary phone, I couldn’t sort everyone lifts, I usually manage, we have drivers away.
Quiz was down a few, away on holiday.
Today will be jiggling blinds to keep the house cool, chicken salad for dinner.
I hope Blossoming is now on an even keel and I’ll be thinking of FGT and himself today.
🦩🦩
Good morning from a cloudy Glasgow, but the sun is trying to burst through.
Good to see you posting, Aggie;, I wondered where you had been.
Yesterday, I received an unsettling letter from my very supportive RA consultant, explaining the results of my recent bloods, which the surgery refused to reveal. Two new health conditions, one being yet another serious autoimmune one.
They just keep on coming, but surprisingly, I am unphased by it all.! I have now achieved the hat trick with auto immune conditions! 😌
The consultant explained that he had advised my unsupportive GP that I would require interventional therapy, to address the problems.
Whatever that means, I have no idea.
I hope the intervention starts soon, I am feeling more and more unwell with each passing day.
Today, I have been asked by the P.P. to attend and support him at a meeting with someone sent by the Diocese. I checked with the P,P that the meeting was still on. He had totally forgotten and was double booked! .
I spent yesterday looking for all the relevant paperwork on my PC,, but couldn't find some of it, for I know the P,P won't know where it is.
I was starting to feel anxious, a common feeling these days, then had a brainwave.
The audits had been submitted to the Diocese, so I trawled my Diocesan account, sent items and voilà, there they were!
What a relief.
I did go looking for brambles yesterday, but found very few, they weren't ripe and the ones, I did find, were in poor condition,
However, I manged to make some apple and blackberry crumbles for the freezer.
To my relief, I found what was causing the terrible smell in the garage, a packet of prawns, which had fallen out of the freezer,
DH had said, that I had been imagining it. 🤣
How he didn't smell it, baffles me.
DD started her new job with the Civil Service yesterday, after eight months of being unemployed.
Obviously, I was a little anxious about her. To my delight, she unexpectedly appeared last night to update us,
In her last job, she was in the office by 7am and home late. So much better for her health and mental wellbeing..
I wish you all a pleasant day and Blossoming, I hope you are improving.♥️.
Thinking of the FGT's today, 💐
mernice
Hello, I’m very new so hope this is in right place. Do any other grandsneters only get 4/5 hours sleep? It’s worrying me.
I do.
I have decided that worrying does no good, so have a half hour postprandial nap to keep me going.
Redcar I fully anticipate soft play will be heaving as it's the last day of freedom. Hopefully it won't be too busy if we go early
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
It will get to 30 degrees today yet we had torrential rain last night!
We are meeting old friends today for lunch. It is in the Chipping Norton area so hope we don’t get caught up in any US Vice President shenanigans! There are rumours that his entourage have been driving on the wrong side of the road.
Annoyingly my thumb isn’t really any better - I didn’t go to my friend’s craft group yesterday - so tomorrow I will contact the surgery. It would have been a week of pain by then.
I will be thinking of the FGT2S today.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s mild and dry, a forecast of just 24°here, nowhere near as hot as in the south
Hoping the dentist appointment goes ok today * Kalu*
Oh what a shame about the Move it or Lose it class Ash I hope it restarts again soon after the holidays and you get chance to go along
I’ve a busy day ahead with a couple of classes as the gym, a coffee with a friend, then a short volunteering session this afternoon. All enjoyable things and it keeps me busy, I miss the family staying and the busy household after they’ve gone home and it takes me a few days to adjust back
Sounds like a lovely boating holiday Sar53 - enjoy!
Hoping all goes well for thd FGTs today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from a bright and warm North Leicestershire.
Today I have to put the playroom back together after the carpet was fitted yesterday. DH and the girls are going for a tour of the Forest ground and having lunch out.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Hello, I’m very new so hope this is in right place. Do any other grandsneters only get 4/5 hours sleep? It’s worrying me.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The cloud is clearing to leave blue skies and sunshine again. The garden thermometer says it’s 19 degrees out there, signs of a shower overnight but not enough!
Pottered about all day yesterday, deadheaded the roses, cut down some of the hollyhocks, watered the tomatoes but I think the dwarf beans have finished now. They haven’t been very productive this year.
More of the same today I think, trying to keep cool.
blossoming I hope your blood pressure has returned to normal and you’re feeling better now.
ash how disappointing that your ‘move it’ class didn’t take place yesterday.
grandmabatty I hope the soft play isn’t too busy and noisy today! Good that your mum’s estate has been finalised.
Thinking of the fgts today and hoping that the scan goes well.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning Mick and all GN's up and doing this misty, damp and humid morning in North Yorkshire. I am trying not to admit it , but it does feel like one of those autumn days already, where you get plenty of sunshiine eventually, but it begins with mists and mellow fruitfulness! All the cars look wet and drab, and the ground looks very wet. The cover on the yellow peril looks bend and very wet so will have to be careful taking it off. It has a mischevious attitude, where it takes every opportunity to soak your feet with hidden pockets of water as you remove the cover!!
I have the washing machine going full pelt and just made my much needed coffee to revive me. My throat is sore, I am full of aches and pains and my wretched eye is still painful and driving me mad! (I am sure my other eye was much quicker at healing up) I have still woken up early , needing the loo etc, despite only getting to bed last night , or rather I should say this morning, about 1 am, and struggling to sleep at all although I am very tired. Well "take what you want - and pay for it!" That is cetainly true for me today.
Physically absolutely shattered, and creaking around today, hoping I dont drop anythiig important. Whatever I drop this morning will have to sit there until I can get myself moving. Creak of the week, thats me today. However mentally on something of a high, remembering the lovely day I had yesterday.
I was determined to go back to Whitby for the last day of the regattta and of course my favouritefirework display. I was so slow moving about and getting very annoyed with myself at the speed of a tortoise seemed to be my best offering yesterday. So by the time I had packed everything into the car and checked stuff it was nearly 11am. So much for getting off early. Then I absolutely go for some fuel as it was on the red, and as I try not to go that low not sure how many miles I have left before it conks out on me. So down to thirsk and needed £75 worth of fuel!!! Still this gadding around whilst I can and the weather is good is sort of my holiday , so try not to worry about the cost.
Had a lovely ride over the moors and up via Guisborough , pulling in a decent layby to enjoy a sandwich etc. Then on to whitby. It was heaving as usual, and full of idiots, who seemed to think if the path is busy you just step out without warning or looking into the road, and cyclists who are definintely breaking the speed limit as they whizz by, Eventually got somewhere to park and had a wander, went to see if I could go on the next pirate boat, but totally full until 4pm , so then on for my bargain coffee from weatherspoons and was able to sit out looking at the harbour, people watching and catching up with my Yorkshire Post. Lovely sat outside watching the world go by. Then wandered along to the marina and looked at many splendid boats and watched them getting ready for the paddle boating race etc.
Had a happy time just doing bits and pieces and wandering about. Then back to the car to get my picnic, and more meandering and watching the water etc. Later the lovely pirate boat was in and managed to get the last seat available for that trip. I thought it was a little strange as although there were quite a few people on board it wasnt full, but all became clear to me, when we went outside the harbour and to the first cardinal buoy, and then the boat stopped and he removed the gateway board. Then a lady stepped forward to release the ashes she had brought to scatter. It was a quiet and solemn moment and I felt honoured to be there for that special moment, remembering doing similar myself.
We then carried on and were singing various shanties with memories attachined like Shallow Brown. The weather stayed calm and warm and then back we went to the harbour.
I then went to get my bargain coffee at the Angel and sat about for a bit, watching for a better space to move the car to, ready for the fireworks in the evening. Took ages but just as I was reluctantly thiking of giving up a space became available, and I dived in quickly and then sat and read with radio 3 on quietly and waited for the fireworks at 9.45pm. Caught up with a little paperwork and then it was still so warm and lovely, I was able to leave the car, in just T shirt and trousers, no jumper needed and make my way to the bridge and found a space to stand in and the foreworks were wonderful. You looked out to sea and they were all wonderful ariel sights above the sea, so that y ou also got great reflections.. Lots of people were taking pictures with their phone, but I feel that you sort of remove yourself from the scene, if you are concentrating on taking pictures. I would rather feel I am part of the scene and just enjoy it. A fantastic show and big crowds of all ages watching. The police and ambulance were around but a lovely crowd politely sharing things and making room for people. No terrible fights or knife crime, just the pleasure of a lovely summer evening.
Well then had to negotiate my way out of Whitby and then set off home arriving here about midnight!! Just brought in basics and ignored the mess and went to bed, but feeling wide awake and not really sleepy, so very little sleep altogether!
So need to give myself a talking too. No matter what I see that I would like to go to, this morning at least must be spent recuperating, and sorting out the messy car etc. Hopefully it will get hotter with the sun out soon but no sign yet. Will try and get all the washing dry and catch up on emails etc.
I had a sudden thought that I dont think I have paid the tv license, must chechk on that this moring without fail! Not that I am looking at much tv at the moment and it seems to have developed an annoying fault and starts to go black from the base of the screen. Have looked and tried to sort it out, but reluctantly coming to the conclusion that I need to get another screen. No value in anything!! I cant actually remember when I bought this but can be sure it was a very long time ago!!
Tonight is the games night at the Oddfellows arms, and hope they have the same game as last time. I was just getting the hang of it and it would be g ood to revise how to play it for future occasions. Tomorrow it will be the whist drive, with friends from all around and I expect most of the farmers will be able to come as they have been frantically getting the harvest in whilst it is dry, so may have a full house tomorrow.
Today I must also go to the bank, as I emailed my daughter in law and she thinks Daniel would enjoy having a dinner paid for rather than clothes or anything, so it will make their trip to IOM more special. She has given me her details, so I must go and check how to send a bank transfer, as it is a very long time since I have done that. So much mundane sorting out and a quiet day at home -- well that is if nothing too exciting to miss comes up !! So now I must get my list made and get off to Tesco on the yellow peril whilst it is still cool and get plenty of water . Then shall resort to old methods from living abroad. Windows opened , curtains closed, doors open to encourage what breeze there is to move through the flat. Flannel wrung out in very cold water and put in a plastic bag to take with me shopping so I wipe my face and neck and cool off a bit. Put the little blue ice block things you put in childrens lunch box , in to freeze and then that is great wrapped in a plastic bag and then a towel and you can sit with your feet on the bottle keeping cool!
So that is my plan for today - unless something better comes up and I abandon all promises of tidying up etc!!
Hope you have a good trip and maybe can get an earlier bus to Bicester to do all your jobs and get back before it is too hot Mick.grandMattie, sounds as though you too are doing a sort out moring, hope it goes well Karma lady hope that you get all your jobs done before it g ets too hot. You always sound so industrious and have so much going on at once. Good for you, long may it last!
Hope everything goes well for all GN's today and that you all remember tokeep cool and leave less urgent jobs for a cooler day.
Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it will be 30+ today but we are escaping to the Norfolk coast to visit DD2 and the little ones in their caravan where it should be cooler.
Wishing everyone a good day
Good morning from sunny W Kent
DGS3 is back this morning as he is running a local tennis training session. He has now decided to stay overnight but luckily I have a well stocked freezer so no problem. I shall be reading in the garden again I think.
Best wishes all round
Good morning from a warm N. .Bucks , another pleasant day in prospect.
Collected my new glasses yesterday and although I have to swap around with distance ones and reading ones, I am much happier than with the varifocals.
I have some ironing to do before it gets too warm and then a few small jobs in the garden.
I have to check if the WI sewing group is meeting this afternoon , there seems to be some confusion.
I am taking part in an on line course for drawing people, something I have rarely tried, so that will be the rest of the day sorted.
Thoughts as always with those who have worries or illness to contend with. A good day wished for all.
Good morning from the boat in Holland. It was very hot yesterday and today is forecast even hotter.
We took the bus to Veere yesterday. A very pretty town on the edge of the Veeresmer, an enormous lake, full of boats.
We wandered around and had lunch before catching the bus back.
I think we are staying put today, jobs to do aboard.
I hope you all have a good day, best wishes to all xx
