If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Here in good old Brum. We have everything we need/want with lovely parks, a beautiful arboretum and lakes within a short drive. However if we are talking dream destinations, I am in love with Venice. We went for the fifth time this year. I would go back in a heartbeat but DH says NO

I know it's not ON our planet, but I'd want to go to outer space.

Floating around space with various pets and loads of books!

If I was younger & fitter, I’d go somewhere remote, with my family & live off grid,

Some were remote in Scotland, if they had nice weather. It’s always damp, & rainy when I visit.

I’d love to move back to the Isle of Wight but it’s too late now and I’d need enough money to be able to throw at the ferry companies if ever I needed health care on the mainland.

If you're not happy in yourself, moving to another country or district won't make life any better for you.

I am happy wherever I am.

Taking the question at face value though: I wouldn't mind living in rural France as I speak pretty good French and I love the country, but the red tape there is supposed to be offputting. Still, it can't be much worse than here I Germany and that doesn't really impinge on daily life much.

Either where I am in Hampshire or in Dorset where we’ve had many happy visits, family and good friends are all local.
We too lived in Françe for a while, but not as integrated into the system as escaped although we both worked p/t, it was wonderful, but of it’s time.

London. I was born and brought up there but I have never been able to afford to live there as an adult.

Def here in England, but would find a quiet small town in maybe Dorset to move to when we retire.Having said that, Mum and my girls and DGC are all local to where I live now so would be hard to leave at all.In the end people matter more than places.

I never thought I'd end my days in a small Scottish town south of Edinburgh but here I am 50 years after being brought here by my Scottish DH. He and most of his close family are gone and I'm still here.

My DS is in NZ so I can visit. That's where I grew up.
When I had my DNA tested, I discovered that nearly half my ancestors were from the Scottish
Borders. A curious coincidence or a return to my roots?

Here - in Australia. Just been to NZ and whilst it is lovely it is very,very expensive. I was horrified at the cost of things and we travelled all over the place so not just Auckland and the bigger cities. I couldn’t live in the UK because I can’t bear the weather and that was a big reason for leaving 50 odd years ago.

I would say here. I do have a son in Australia and I miss him but my other DC are all in the same county along with our DGC.

The UK has its problems but we are still a good country to live in. Europe is fine for a holiday but I wouldn't want to live there. New Zealand and Canada are two counties I could have considered living in if work had taken DH there.

I’m very happy where I am . We have travelled but have no inclination to live in foreign parts.
If I could take all the family with us I would choose S.Cornwall, Lizard or Roseland Peninsula.

I made my dream come true and lived in France for several years. It was proper living and working in the system, but very enjoyable, and I'm so pleased to have been able to follow my dream.

Now, I wouldn't swap beautiful Devon for anywhere, probably because all the family landed up here too during covid times.

Here in Wales , it’s my home

For me NZ is a long way from anywhere, a nice place to holiday but very restrictive in activity, better is small town Australia we have visited many and the community spirit is better than most in the UK, so that would be my choice if I was looking to move.

However my family is in the UK so we will continue to rough it in our leafy corner of the south midlands.

New Zealand would be my choice having had a wonderful holiday touring there just after I retired.

I have lived all over the UK and have been happy.
For me dream destinations are for holidays.

"There's no place like home".and "home is where the heart is." I have no dream destination as you put it. I like my house, my family are close by.

I don't dream of being anywhere.
I've always been happy wherever I am.
I'm unexpectedly moving area soon.
I'll miss friends where I am now, but I'll settle into my new home and get on with my life.

Here - i love my home, my family are all accessible and I have a full and busy life.
