The author has written other books .
He's spent four years researching the life of Prince Andrew .
Prince Andrew is still alive and so is his family .
They have already gone through hell over his association with Epstein .

I have read the John Buchan and the Mountbatten books. Both good.
Not sure what your point is?
If you read the Mumsnet thread, you will find that the opinion is that the book is nothing like the Daily Mail extracts, which may have put some people off.

Oh dear -
Looks like I've opened a can of worms here .
Yes , Prince Andrew was definitely involved with Epstein and his interview was ill -advised .
Frankly,I think that he was panicking and flustered .

It really is a book that you can't judge unless you read or listen to it. The level of detail in the evidence is quite overwhelming.

Thanks for replying, it’s so difficult, I don’t like rumours in social media but I can understand why the book was written,
The Epstein friendship shows a man without morals ,

Actually before I posted my opinion I looked him up and have read his reviews etc .
I'm very surprised that such an erudite scholar should write such a book .

Why ? did you believe Andrew wasn’t involved with Epstein and he spoke tbe truth in the BBC interview?

I think the future of the monarchy with William and Catherine is looking solid.

I think he will be a modern King along the lines of the European monarchies.

I thought the Queen Mother left millions to her GC.
I seem to remember Harry was due to receive millions on his 40th birthday from her.

To say nothing of the excesses of the Queen Mother and the enormous debts she left behind. Or Lord Mountbatten and the Kincarra (spelling?) Children's Home scandal. Or indeed our King who furnished the Bishop of Gloucester with a house and threatened to "chase off" the victim of his pedophilia. Time to get rid of this over privileged, above the law and archaic institution.

I am listening to it on Audible. He is a serious writer, with lots of listed research and sources. I approached it with an open mind, but the chapters about Sarah Ferguson, her lifestyle of excessive consumption and the finances around her charities are truly shocking. It is nothing like Spare.

Fergie has always been in the public eye with her many, many interviews, more so since the death of Elizabeth 11

It looks as if this Dutch company swerved a bullet.
Just when he thought his ( and hers) money troubles were over.

Andrew Lownie's book came out today. I have yet to read it but apparently Andrew and Fergie are both shown in a very unfavourable light.

I can't help feeling sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie.

Andrew and Fergie have never been seen in a good light

Another muck raking publication .

I feel sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie and I also feel sorry for their parents as it's hard to refute all the allegations .

Have you read any of the reviews or seen interviews with the author.
He is a serious historian. Cambridge graduate.
And thoroughly researches everything he does.
As this was the first book on living people that he has written he had to be even more careful to support everything with evidence.
He is also a monarchist and feels the behaviour esp of Andrew Windsor endangers the credibility and future of the monarchy.
Andrew Window was a trade envoy for the UK and undermined the interests of the UK during that role as well as squeezing every financial and hedonistic advantage from it.

I’m not interested, I read Spare and it was rubbish. At the time I knew nothing about MM and very little about PH. I still don’t!

Granmarderby10 Thu 14-Aug-25 20:29:31

It is hardly a surprise to anyone who read the papers or listened to the news of “The Yorks” relationships and unbecoming behaviour at the time. Is it?

Smileless2012 Thu 14-Aug-25 20:19:31

I agree Esmay. As far as I know neither A or F are keeping themselves in the public eye so should be left alone.
