Good morning from a dull N.Bucks. I had to put on a cardigan and socks last evening. I hope we have some more warm weather after all it is still only August !
A bit of ironing this morning and no particular plans for the rest of the day, probably art or craft.
Thoughts with those who are struggling with illness or worries. A good day wished for all.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, a cloudy start again this morning with a sunny afternoon forecast
A big well done to your DGDs Sar, Kitty and Gingster and all other DGC celebrating their results
Quite a busy day ahead with a volunteering session this morning, a dance class at the gym and then out with a few friends this evening. DH has kindly agreed to be the taxi service on pick up duty tonight so it’ll be a late night for us both
Safe travels to all on the move today
Jax ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a cloudy 11deg. in Glasgow. Dry and warm is much preferred weather for me now.

I had a full busy day yesterday. At one point I collected a script from my local pharmacy and bumped into a former nursing colleague who lives nearby. We first met in 1968 and bump into one another occasionally but both with time on our hands we decided to lunch at the Italian restaurant where we were standing outside. Always a treat to meet her and we had another trip down memory lane of our single days living in the nurse’s home. In 2nd year we moved into a flat with two other colleagues.
A quieter at home day to do as I please.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and hopefully a better day for those with worries and anxious times.

Good morning everyone, didn't get round to reading yesterday's messages until the evening.

So sorry to hear about your niece, Susan, just so sad.

Congratulations to all who did well in exams last week and this. Most young people work very hard, with lots of social pressures too, inspite of what we hear. The academic high achievers always feature on tv and local newspapers but those with more average results may have done well to get those results in the face of other obstacles.

Today is day 5 of the decorating. They have been no trouble at all. They prefer not to be interrupted with drinks and bring their own water bottles. I've said they're welcome to sit at the table in the garden and get some fresh air with their lunch but they sit in their car.
Very low maintenance!

Wishing all who have health woes a better day. Take care everyone. 🌻

Gingster Fri 22-Aug-25 07:27:14

Good morning all . It’s chilly but sunny here in Essex. I have my cosy dressing gown on for the first time in ages. A lovely autumnal morning! 🍂🍁.

Yesterday we set to and tidied the house. Dh hoovered while I did the ‘hard’ work. Probably did too much with my new eye but couldn’t just look at the things that needed doing.
I then sanded and painted the front door. Looking better but needs another coat..

Today we’ll meet our Friday pals for lunchtime drinks and discuss arrangements for our week away next week.

Sar fantastic news for S . She’s done so well in difficult circumstances . Well done her.
Our dgd3 passed all her GCSE’s but was disappointed with a couple of grades. I think the boyfriend interfered with her studies. Never mind she’ll go into 6th form and choose A levels . Fewer subjects but a lot more work.

Ash so frustrating trying to get doctors appointments. We’re going through a similar process , timing blood tests and then seeing the GP for results. Phlebotomists away and gp going on holiday as well as us on holiday for a week. Almost impossible!

Thoughts with FGT and MD.

Take care 🌼

Morning, 10 and bright in S Hants.
Great achievement Sar, safe journey back and happy travels to you Ashcombe
Another well done to your GD too kitty and all of those with results yesterday, options are available if there were disappointments.
I had various pieces of disconcerting news yesterday, but today is new, I shall make the most of it, starting with stretch class this morning.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Definitely cooler last night, I closed most of the windows, it was too draughty with them all open. I had a longer walk yesterday morning, but suffered with a very achy back all day.
Well done to your DGD sar, she had such a difficult time during the exams, so a real achievement for her. Have a trouble free journey home!
ash I hope your tinnitus improves today, frustrating that you have been unable to speak to your doctor about it. Have an enjoyable break visiting family.
md I hope you’re recovering from your collapse and have been able to make your doctor understand how difficult life is for you at the moment.
I’m going to DD1s later to look after her daughters for the evening. I’ll stay overnight as DD1 and her DH are going to a concert and will be late back.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Oops I’ve done it again I’ve lost my post but here goes. Good morning from a dull and cooler day here on the east coast of Fife. I’m off to my local club today followed by a trip to the farm shop 3 miles away to get fresh raspberries , if there’s none left I’ll just have to buy frozen ones . I’ll be making raspberry jam on Sunday it’s so easy peasy I make it all the time, my family love it.

My friends make hay while the sun shines and look out for those big hairy spiders I’ve already seen a couple in my house yuck

GrannyIvy Fri 22-Aug-25 06:59:05

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is forecast a cloud/sun 22 degrees. Definitely a feel of autumn in the mornings and evenings

Yesterday DH and I had an afternoon tea which was a joint birthday present to us from a friend. It was really lovely everything beautifully homemade but so much food. However we brought the leftovers home and will finish today.

Today I am meeting a good friend for a catch up and coffee at the local garden centre. Haven’t seen her for a few weeks so lots to chat about.

I was so sad to hear your tragic news Susan I also do hope your health improves soon.
MD do hope you are doing ok this morning. Sending a hug to all those struggling. Particularly thinking of FGTs

Lovely to hear your good news Sar so pleased to hear your DGD did well after such a difficult time for her. Safe journey home today.

Take care everyone, have the best day possible. 💐

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Aug-25 06:57:56

Good morning from a bright sunny S E Essex.

I am slightly anxious as the 10yr old is off abroad with his Dad and partner today, DD had so much paperwork to do in case they get stopped either getting out of the UK or getting back in (he has her surname not his Dad’s). He is excited, but slightly nervous of the airline after looking at reviews, he has such an old head 😹

Off to the gym first thing, then a coffee and catch up with pals. Not sure where DH and I are going for dinner tonight, will see what we fancy. Shouldn’t be a problem getting in anywhere.

Congratulations to S Sar53 after such a horrendous and worrying year hopefully this is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thinking of Marydoll hopefully no more incidents

My love and thoughts are with FGT and himself 😘

Bellasnana Fri 22-Aug-25 06:57:54

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 38°C.

DD1 arrived last night with little dog Bertie, what joy to have them both in my arms again after a year apart. They will be here for a couple of weeks and have a packed schedule.

Congratulations to your DGD Sar. 🙌🏼

Safe travels Ashcombe.

Have a good day friends.☀️

kittylester Fri 22-Aug-25 06:55:04

Good morning all from an overcast North Leicestershire.

Today I have a Waitrose shop, a visit to the butchers and a trip to the village pet shop before a sit down and a catchup with my hairdresser.

I am also a very proud Ma. Our eldest granddaughter achieved extremely good passes in her GCSEs. She, and her brother, have had a difficult 3 years with their mum (DD1) having very arduous treatment for breast cancer which inevitably impacted both children.

Grandmabatty Fri 22-Aug-25 06:45:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and cloudy. Sar that's excellent news! Well done to your dgd. Ashcombe how frustrating for you. I hope your visit to family will help.
Yesterday I had my own frustrations to deal with. I tried to change my direct debits to my new card and the bank wouldn't let me. I'm assuming I have to verify the card once the pin number eventually arrives. I did manage to do an hour's Spanish and a bit of weeding in the front garden. The painter has finished and will return next week to look at some painting on the outside of the house for me.The colour of the bathroom paint wasn't exactly what I thought it would be either! However, like it too. Just as well. Dd said she's coming with me next time to choose paint. Having just had five rooms sone, that won't be til next year when I'll get the dining room and the boys room done. Dinner was a Hodge podge from the fridge.
Today I'm heading to town to pick up my new reading glasses then I'm going to the school to work in the library with dgs1's class in the morning and the little ones in the afternoon. Then home to wash floors and begin to put everything back. I'll take my time at that. Ds is coming over on Sunday morning and he can put up lampshades etc for me. Dinner will be out of the freezer, possibly bolognaise or chilli. Have a good day all.

Greyduster Fri 22-Aug-25 06:38:06

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool, grey South Yorkshire. Yesterday, most of the walking group were wearing jackets. What a change from last week. As we were walking through the woods, a couple of runners came past us - one of them was DD, the other her running buddy. She broke her stride o give me a quick peck on the cheek and dashed off. They were on the home straight of a thirteen mile run out in the Peak District. I joined her at home later for a quick lunch and a chat and then came home to keep my hairdressing appointment.
Today I need to do a food shop, and sort out some kitchen cupboards, one of which is chocablock with packets of herbal tea; mostly unopened but out of date. When I had a “thing”for herbal tea, DD would often go into “I thought you might like to try this one” mode, and they steadily accumulated. There is only so much you can drink!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from cloudy s somerset

A very busy day yesterday, at last I decided to tackle the mountain of wood carving books. I took my shopping trolley to the cs and they were delighted, They will fetch a decent amount of money

It took me the whole morning and then I made a swatch for the gansey, 2.5 pins are too big. I will try 2.25 when they arrive.

The photo is from my scrapbook. Dd top left is on the £260 pony that won a championship and best in show at the Royal Welsh. I am bottom right, on my 5 year old mare

Today, no plans but I will continue to sort something or other, perhaps knitting patterns, sturdy pastel coloured files will be arriving for them soon

I am trying not to think about dd2 running over 100 miles in an event tomorrow, up mountains. She runs but I get stressed

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Fri 22-Aug-25 06:24:30

Good morning, pale blue sky here so perhaps we’ll have some sunshine this morning. Yesterday it was chilly until early afternoon but we didn’t have any sun until about 4.
I met with the lovely school garden volunteer yesterday morning and I’m going to do two sessions a week with her, one doing gardening, the other with the children. So looking forward to that!
I’ve never been in the school grounds before, they’re beautiful, and there’s a lovely area where the children can join in with chickens, raised beds, fruit trees, a big garden shed etc. Something new for me😊
I then did an online art class, very enjoyable, that continued yesterday evening.
Today, besides dog walking, I don’t have anything planned except housework.
Many congratulations to Sar53’s DGD! Brilliant achievement 👏 and all the other DGCs who’ve had their results.

grandMattie Fri 22-Aug-25 06:14:52

How wonderful, Sar53, no wonder you are all ecstatic!

Ashcombe Fri 22-Aug-25 06:06:33

Congratulations to your DGD2, Sar53! An extra special achievement! 😃

Ashcombe Fri 22-Aug-25 06:04:21

Good morning from a still dark (Friday, Mick) morning. Yes, these cooler nights are very welcome, grandMattie!

On Wednesday, I waited from noon onwards for a call from my practice that didn’t come. The saga continues. There was a little number one on my NHS App yesterday which usually means there’s a message. On trying to access it, the app wouldn’t recognise the password so it was back to the whole business of …..We’ll send you a link……You can reset the password…..No we don’t want a pass key type password, by which stage I was at screaming point. I finally managed to open the app to discover that I’d missed a call on my mobile from a GP earlier that morning . (The signal here is poor and I’ve asked them before to ring my landline) Would I contact the surgery online to rearrange?

To be perfectly honest, the tinnitus didn’t seem to be so bad and I really didn’t want to be tied to waiting for another call. I did try ringing the surgery to be told I was 21st in the queue. I had a lot to do as I’m going away today so I shall leave it now until I come back. The Sudafed nasal spray seems to have helped.

I’m going by train to spend a long weekend with my family: two nights with my DS in Eccleshall, near Stafford to see the new home in which he lives with his newish partner (teenage sweetheart from schooldays) then on to Crewe for two nights to stay with my DD2 and family.

Have a good weekend, those who can and thoughts with those with mountains to climb. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Sar53 Fri 22-Aug-25 05:53:18

Good morning from my last day in Holland. I will be leaving here about 13.00 to get the train to Schiphol and should be home by 20.00 tonight.
It's Friday Mick not Monday, it could cause a little confusion.
I make no apologies here for being a boasting gran. My DGD2, S, who spent a lot of this last year in and out of hospital, passed all of her GCSE's.
To say we, as a family, are ecstatic is an understatement. We are so very proud of her.
She will start college in a couple of weeks.
I'm awake early as there is a lot to do before I leave.
Have a great day and best wishes to all xx

NannyJan53 Fri 22-Aug-25 05:52:36

Good morning from a dark and slightly chilly Black Country. I think the hot days are thankfully over. Just need rain now.

Up much earlier than usual, for some reason I woke at 4.30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Usually sleep until 7ish.

Great walk yesterday with the well being walking group, and coffee and chat in the country park cafe afterwards.

Today I am meeting DS in his lunch break, we will meet in one of the Lounge Cafe Bars, then over to Mums, as she is having an audiology appointment at home. Hearing test, and tubes to be changed.

Wishing you all the best day possible. With special thoughts of FGT & himself, and MD and anyone else struggling at the moment.

grandMattie Fri 22-Aug-25 05:32:02

Good morning from Bristol.
From burning hot to distinctly cooler, the overcast skies stay like that until late afternoon when it finally gets warmer. ATM it’s only about 9C, so the night, at least, are tolerable.
I had another solitary day yesterday. I decided to sit out when the sun came out and was joined by several residents. Mint was nic3vto talk to someone. I hadn’t spoken to a soul since Tuesday.
Much the same today. Some sewing, a nap, cook something to eat…. Pretty boring.
Thinking of those with mountains to climb, especially MD and FGT. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩💐

Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Today ,usual routine with the bus trip to Bicester , buy some essential items and see those I know.
Health wise OK , I no longer take those lapperamide capsules , my system is working as normal , plus maybe a slow weight gain.
Take Care,
Mick
