Much cooler, which is nice, but some sunshine is forecast so local fetes should be successful - knowing how much work goes into to putting on these events I am always glad when the weather co-operates. No plans at all for today so will potter gently in the garden, which looks very stressed after no rain for so long. I only water things in pots, so the borders have had to take their chance and do not look happy. We appear to have a visiting rabbit, ominous since they never come in ones. Not sure where it is getting in though we have a hedgehog hole in the fences so that might be it.

Hope Marydoll manages a restful day, that those remembering lost loves have good memories and that everyone else has a good day.

Morning all, I’ve only skim read recently so not really up to date with all the busyness. However I didn’t want to read today and not send my thoughts for a gentle but speedy recovery to MaryDoll after her experiences the other day.
Also thinking of those who have worries of any kind, those who might be feeling a bit ‘under the weather’ or like me just not looking forward to the incoming shorter days and longer nights.
No news from me, which is why I rarely post you’d be bored rigid with my lack of excitement each day😉 but I quite like it!

A quick morning all from a bright West Oxfordshire.

Younger son is here and we’re watching ‘Outrageous’.

Best wishes to everyone. Have a good day.

Good morning from my bit of South Lanarkshire. I’ve scanned a few posts but once again am going to leave the rest for later since family are here.

Congratulations on your DGD,selection for the Scotland squad baubles, good luck to them, what a good experience for her.

Many congratulations too Sar53 on your brave DGD’s exam results, you must be so proud.

Marydoll, I just went back and read about what happened to you, what a horrific experience, no wonder your family are so worried. I hope you recover soon from that particular incident anyway.

Kalu, I’m glad you will be spending today with your family who are sharing the loss. 🙏🏻💐

DGD3 is continuing her D of E ‘support to an elderly person’ work this weekend and since the rain is holding off, will be helping me clearing out the shed today for which I will be really grateful.

Best wishes to everyone x

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. We desperately need rain for the garden. It sprinkled a bit in the air yesterday, but we need a good overnight downpour.

Hoping poorly folks are feeling more comfortable today. Take it steady if you can.

Kalu, I like your sentiment too. Grief is the price we pay for love. 🌸

EkwaNimitee, my DH can't tolerate onions either. He also has to avoid garlic and lentils. He follows a FODMAP diet and it has transformed his life.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

My eyes are now settled down again. We enjoyed a windswept seaside walk at Lytham yesterday and came home feeling refreshed. I slept well last night!

Marydoll I hope you get some rest today and don’t go taking on too much.

kalu flowers a poignant day for you and your family.

Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers, northwest coast. About time we had some rain to go with the dullness!
I’m tired rather than rejuvenated after my little holiday in the Isle of Man. ‘Doing’ the island and then the trapped cat fiasco, up and down the ladder in the garage trying to get her out, have left me aching. The break was definitely worth it though.

DS came over yesterday and put a cover over the loft so that the cat can’t climb into it again and I went back to resting my back. Today I plan a FaceTime with my sister in the south and this evening to a local production. Very pleased to get the last seat in the house on row C, I always choose the front.

Thoughts to Kalu today and a couple of pics from my last day on the island.

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Suffolk. Off to the West Country shortly for the early family celebration of DGD2’s 18th birthday. There are 16 of us in the immediate family circle,an equal number of adults and youngsters and it will be a lovely opportunity for the cousins to spend time together.

DD1 who is hosting the gathering says the forecast for Monday there is 25 degrees! We’ll see.

Hope all have the best weekend possible especially those with worries of any kind.

Morning, high cloud in S Hants.
Welcome home Pants and Sar - a smooth crossing for for your husbands trip 🤞
kalu memories of love 🌹
Stretch class yesterday was punishing, but good, I called into the village card shop on the way home, granddaughter is 18 in about ten days.
Tesco delivered then off to the local where MrJ was welcomed back after after his time ‘off sick’.
Paper today, football and I’ll have the hoe out weeding around my winter veg.

Good morning everyone from south Hants where the sun is breaking through. I’ll have a late breakfast/brunch this morning as I’m meeting friends at 12 at our local allotment veg and flower show. We don’t enter anything as, although we are tempted every year, the standard is very high and we just can’t manage that kind of commitment. It’s lovely to admire all the exhibits though and have a cuppa and chat.
Hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

Grammaretto Sat 23-Aug-25 08:33:35

A poignant day indeed Kalu. flowers❤️

Hugs to Marydoll and Kalu. Thinking of fgt and himself

EkwaNimitee Sat 23-Aug-25 08:25:02

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle.
Yesterday's dark clouds eventually cleared away to give us a warm, sunny day. After a bit of laundry and tidying away holiday items, I was out in the garden after lunch. I gave my cordon crab apples a good pruning, fully exposing a good crop of large, colourful crabs. Jelly will be made in a few days. I can't buy it so have to have the trees. I also picked the sole blackberry off my new bush. I must give it a good watering today and my potatoes too, no rain for a while and none in the forecast.

I was going to go to the garden centre this morning but my guts are irritated, probably by the vegan pizza I ate on arrival back home...I tried to avoid the oniony bits in it but must have failed! My gut population goes to war with members of the onion family.
I've plenty to do here, lots of admin and editing and sorting out my photos, plus there will be a call to my sister as is usual on a Saturday.

That year seems to have gone so fast Kalu. I hope you and your family are consoled by sharing your happy memories.

And especial good wishes to soop, Marydoll, and FGT and, indeed, to any of you suffering hard times.

Good morning all and it’s another bright , cool morning here in Essex. Lovely . 🍂

Yesterday we met up with our usual Friday pals for lunchtime drinks and as we were leaving, I spotted my db and SIL having lunch with another couple. It’s a large pub/restaurant and I was lucky to see them in their little alcove.

They live close by and have a huge orchard full of fruit, so we followed them home , and spent the next pleasant hour picking apples, pears and plums.

It’s a shame that a lot will go to waste and it depresses them as they are getting too old to deal with it. They do their best and take lots to the church and local farm shop, invite all friends and family round to help themselves but it’s a drop in the ocean really.

I’ll go again and pick for my clubs etc, they’re always pleased to take a bag full.

Dh couldn’t do much as the ground is treacherous with divots and holes, made a few years ago by an abandoned horse who had wandered in and galloped round for 10 days before they could find someone to ‘deal’with him. . He was beautiful, but had been treated badly so eventually had to be put down. 😢.

Not much on for the weekend. Certainly won’t drive anywhere with the BH traffic and road closures everywhere.

Dd and DGD will probably come tomorrow for lunch and ds1 will pop in. They are having a celebratory weekend for the girls. One passing her GCSE’s and the others 19th birthday. 🎈

Waffled on for far too long. Sorry!

Take care ♥️ and love to all who needs it.

Good morning everyone from a dull and dreary Northampton; no sign of the promised sun.

What a lot of posts already - there are some very early risers on here! I used to be like that, but since DH died I find I can sleep longer. I cannot believe it will be 8 years in February.

flowersflowers for Kalu today.

Yesterday.turned out nice and sunny, but still comfortable enough for my three dance classes. Went for coffee afterwards with my dancing friend.
Sat in the garden with the newspaper when I got home.
Then in the.evening enjoyed the first match of the Women's World Cup Rugby - England v USA, where we had a comfortable win 69-7.

Off shopping this morning with a friend, and we shall pick up a mutual friend (aged 91) to do her shop as well. She enjoys time out in company, and a coffee and tea-cake will also be enjoyed.

This afternoon I shall watch more women's rugby on tv.
Steak for dinner tonight.

Take care and rest up, Marydoll.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° with some cloud and sunshine. Kalu💐 and 💐for Marydoll too.
Yesterday I picked up my new reading glasses from the opticians and bumped into(not literally) a friend. We had a quick chat but I was heading to the school library to work with a couple of classes. Dgs1 was very pleased to see me and gave me a huge hug. The classes and their teachers were lovely. From there, I nipped up to see dd and stayed for a cuppa and a chat. When I got back home, wonders of wonders, my new pin number had arrived so it was back out to Aldi to verify it. I had already washed the kitchen floor and my bedroom floor, so I started putting everything back. The kitchen was easy. I even managed to put up the curtain pole and curtains in my bedroom without wobbling. I was pleased by how much I got done.
Today is a day in the house because I'm waiting for my new table lamps and lampshade to be delivered. I've done a Tesco delivery too. I might as well as I'm stuck in waiting. So I'll wash the hall floor later and put more things away. My chest of drawers is heavy but I might manage to slide it into my bedroom. I have a washing in the machine and another one waiting so they'll go out on the line. Have a good day all.

ginny Sat 23-Aug-25 07:44:06

Good morning from a dry but dull an. Bucks. I hope it will turn out warmer than yesterday when I had to resort to jumper and socks.
Local shop this morning and maybe coffee. Later I shall prepare a sample of a C*******s project for craft club and work on a watercolour.
Hope those who are ill will see some relief today and a smile wished for all.

Grammaretto Sat 23-Aug-25 07:39:33

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I slept soundly for a change.

Another busy day ahead. I have a shift at the open house café this morning, I have offered to help to mount an exhibition about the future of my house and have
invited a few friends for supper.

Yesterday I was by myself at the shop till all morning with queues of customers, most of whom I'd have loved to chat to. I napped after lunch and then finished my pots.

I managed about half an hour in the garden enjoying the remains of the day.

Hopefully this nice weather will last a bit longer. Make the most of it everyone.

Georgesgran Sat 23-Aug-25 07:35:53

Good Morning from Durham. After a late night shower, it’s a dry, still and grey start to the day. My decorator is arriving at 8am to do some outdoor work. I’m
getting 4 new tyres on my car later, so that’ll keep me out of his way.

I hope your day gets better MD after your traumatic week - but perhaps every cloud- at least you were in the right place, at the right time!

Best wishes to all. X

harrigran Sat 23-Aug-25 07:34:25

Good morning from a grey NE, must be cool as the heating is on.
Went out for lunch with my friend yesterday, very pleasant couple of hours chatting. We tend to have champagne nowadays as the ordinary wine at that restaurant is a bit down market.
No visitors this weekend, GDs are at Leeds festival and DIL is working. Tomorrow is DS and DIL's wedding anniversary so maybe they have something planned for that.
Thinking of Marydoll and hoping she has a better day.
Have a good weekend.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 23-Aug-25 07:33:51

Good morning from S E Essex it is trying to brighten up and we are forecast sun.

Off to local shops first thing, then I need to confirm paint colours, pick up wallpaper books (the papers I chose are not made anymore).

I have two bedrooms to clear, and a bathroom ready for builders on Tuesday, mustn’t complain at least the work is starting.

Kalu 🌸

Take care dear morning friends, especially if you are poorly or have worries 🌸

Thinking of FGT2 and himself 😘
