No matter what number house you live at, and even if the number is prominently displayed the delivery driver will still leave it at a house in another street.🤬

The houses along our side of the road are the usual run of even numbers starting with 2 and we are in the 60s. The houses the other side start just across from us (private school sports fields before them) and the first one is 101.

It is worse in Tokyo. The houses are numbered in the order they were built. A new house just gets the next number. If you take a taxi to an address, the driver stops in the correct road or area then asks people where they know, or think, number 42 or whatever is! It does work but it seems strange the first time you encounter it.

Our last house was a semi. We lived in number 37 and net door was number 1. We were on the corner of a road and a cul de sac . Our address was the road and hers was the cul de sac .

The curve of our roads and the houses being built at different times, now causes much confusion to those looking for specific properties.

We lived in a cottage that had once been part of the Ragley Hall estate. All of the estate cottages had been numbered, so, for example, ours was called 123 Blogsvillage and 124 Blogsvillage was on a different road. 125 was in different village!

I live in a cul de sac of terraced houses in blocks, the first house in the first block is 10. However back on the main road around the corner is a block of much higher 3 digit numbers, except for one, the last house is 2 with an address in the cul de sac. Extremely confusing for all! What were they thinking?

Very strange! We don't have a number thirteen in our Avenue?
I've checked, causing the neighbours to think I'm a weirdo
(sorry Weirdo!) 🤔

I recently move to a 5yr old semi now my house lets say its No. 42 and my adjoining semi (nice lady) pointed out that her house is No. 59 of a different rd entirely. Its weird but true. Not my real number by the way but thats how it is just different numbers. Can't think what was going on when the area was being planned.
Is it only me that thinks its odd? Bet the posties took a while to figure it out.
